What did you do/want to do for your 30th?

My DBF will be celebrating his 30th in a year and I want to plan something amazing. He's one of those guys that hates birthdays so I want to do something special and memorable for this one. Hopefully it will change his perception of them.

I would love to hear some ideas or stories of yours. Thanks!

My 30th was this past Dec and we did nothing.
Our hot water heater broke the night before and we spent the day finding the warranty info and trying to get someone out to fix it.

We just had cake and dinner. Nothing too exciting, but that was what I wanted. DH also had a happy birthday sign put in our yard, which was great. If I didn't have kids (I assume you guys don't?) and it was just DH & I celebrating though....maybe take him out to a play or dinner, or a murder mystery dinner (I always wanted to do one of those).

How about a trip to Vegas or another special getaway.

Throw him a surprise B'day party, rent a room at a local restaurant and invite a few friends or have a party at your house.

My husband's 30th was last December. Actually his bday is on Christmas. He hadn't had a bday party in years and years... just usually a cake and happy birthday singing with Christmas dinner.

But for this 30th, his parents were in town from Denver and I threw him a surprise party the day after Christmas. Told him we were going to my grandma's house for leftovers, hee hee. That's where the party was. He was totally surprised.

I have 1 1/2 years until my 30th, I pray pray that my hubby will take me on a disney cruise...

I did not want to do anything! But also hide in my room and cry all day! I do not know what hit me but 30 felt so darn old!

I would have been more than happy to have whisked off to an island somewhere and strawberry daquari my tears away!

My mother watched DS so DH could take me on a shopping trip to NYC.

I threw DH a surprise party for his 30th and gave guests "I survived [DH's] 30th birthday party" t-shirts.

I planned something very special on my own 30th, so I could always remember that day... my DD's Baptism. It was great because everyone was so focused on her that very few remembered it was my 30th, which was exactly what I wanted

For DH's 30th I planned a surprise party for him, nothing huge, just friends and co-workers. It was a lot of fun and the pictures are hilarious!

Just hit 30 in September. Did nothing special, but got lots of birthday kisses from my 2 year old. What else could I need.

I'll be 30 next October and I have told DH I do not want a big party. Instead, he and I and any extended family members who are interested are going to WDW

For DH we were living in South Dakota and the Sturgis rally was getting into swing, so I took him there for the weekend on his 30th.

For me, I went with a girlfriend and had pedicures, hung out in the afternoon with a glass of wine, then went to dinner with just the girls. It was great!! Drinks, dinner, conversation, FABULOUS!! Then a couple of weeks later one of our guy friends turned 40 so we did some belated celebrating with them. It was a good time!!
