I saw a thread asking people about how they spent their Christmas Eve/Christmas Day at Disney, and I was just wondering about Thanksgiving.

This will be our first ever Disney Thanksgiving, so I am trying to think of what we should do.

So tell me...What did you do on Thanksgiving Day at the the World.

I hope you get a reply because my family and I will be @ WDW on Thanksgiving as well. This will be our first trip with our 11yo twin sons. I'm interested to see if there are any special options.:rolleyes1

Here is last years list. This years might be out on the web but I have not searched yet.

We did Spoodles in 2005 because four of the kids with our party were in the 10-15 year range and do not eat a lot. Some of the dinners were from $34-$55 and we wanted a place we could get both traditional Thankgiving and order off the menu. It was good and everyone had a great time.

It was packed everywhere in the afternoon and evening for meals. Make sure to have your reservations, Spoodles was not taking walkups when we went to dinner.

My family had a wonderful dinner at Chef Mickey's. It is in the Contempory resort. The meal is served as a buffet, and the characters walk around. My 7 year old daughter LOVED it (and so did we!) In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we have booked another Thanksgiving trip and are hoping to get reservations at Chef Mickey's AGAIN!

sorry I must of had food on my mind. As for special events I really don't remember any geared toward thanksgiving. They had a Xmas decorations up and a lot of those had already started (osbourn lights)

We had flown in the night before - we took our time getting up and moving, but when we got to MK (sometime around 10am) they were just doing the little mini parade with the turkeys pardoned by President Bush. It was a really neat thing to see. The turkeys were then on display at Mickey's House in Toontown the rest of the day. We hung out at MK until it was time for our reservation at the Grand Floridian Cafe.

Rode with my husband while he played golf, dinner at the Brown Derby with the Fanstasmic package. It was wonderful spending turkey day with the mouse. We didn't even mind the crowds for Thanksgiving weekend.

We were there this year for Thanksgiving. We spent the day at EPCOT which per the touring guides is less crowded than DS or MK. We ate at Nine Dragons. This may seem funny, but I knew all the restaurants change their menu's right around the holiday to have a Thanksgiving flair and we'd be turkey'd out by the actual day. It really was a nice change. We had a great day and the crowds weren't to bad. During our trip we also did MVMCP and then the day after Thanksgiving starts the Candlelight Processional if you are interested in that. The Christmas decorations in all the parks were WONDERFUL.

Hopes this helps.

We watched Off Kilter all day. We didn't have a Thanksgiving dinner but waited until the hubbub died down and had a very nice lunch that Saturday instead.

We made T-day a non-park day. We started the morning at DTD and both kids had BBB appointments followed by a photo shoot. :) We then shopped all around DTD. It wasn't crowded at all. We had a light lunch and then headed back to our resort. We had 3:30 ADR's for 22 (all family) at Yacht Club Galley for T-day dinner. After dinner our group walked back to BWV which is where we were staying but most of the group was staying at other resorts. So we showed everyone around the BW area and up to our villa and had refreshments. Later some of the adults went to JellyRolls. :)

Besides most of the restaurants having some sort of traditional T-day meal there really are no special events for Thanksgiving. However there is a load of stuff going on for Christmas with all the decorations up, the Osborne Lights on and the day after Thanksgiving starts Epcots Holidays around the World with storytellers and special performers in every country. :)

We had breakfast at Boma's at the AKL. Then we went to AK for the day. For dinner we went to the HDDR.

We are going to be at WDW during Thanksgiving 2008 also, we are really looking forward to it.

I booked it so I would not have to cook and I could get away from the extended family for a while! :rotfl:

We are planning a buffet meal for that day. Maybe 1900 park fare at Grand Floridian, Crystal Palace, or Chef Mickey's. We are not really sure.

I would like to go to MK for the day.

We spent Thanksgiving week '07 at WDW and loved it! Crowds were a little crazy, but we had 8 days to spread our touring out over, so it helped with the calamity some. :) We spend Thanksgiving Day at Animal Kingdom - fastpassed Everest several times that day and caught the shows and smaller rides in between. We ate lunch at Yak & Yeti (which had just opened the week before) and had a GREAT time!!!! I strongly recommend that restaurant for anyone's AK day! But, anyhoo, we found AK to be very light considering the busy day that we were there so I highly recommend it for Turkey Day! :goodvibes

Wow this all sounds great! :thumbsup2 I am getting excited about our trip now!

Here is another question for you...what about the day after Thanksgiving...does Disney do anything for "Black Friday" like any special sales or opening early at DTD?

We ate our Thanksgiving dinner at the Spirit of Aloha show. It was fun to have a non traditional Thanksgiving! I don't remember any special "black Friday" sales, but I do remember that if you spent so much money at World of Disney you could get a beautiful charger cheap! That may be an all the time thing though. One more thing to consider is since the parks are super crowded around Thanksgiving...how about a fishing, boating, spa excursion one day. Our group went fishing and to the spa on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and had a great time!

We've spent the last 2 Thanksgivings at the World. In '06we went to MGM and toured, and had diner at 50's Prime time, which was really fun. They had a turkey dinner special, so we got our Turkey fix. The park was crowded, but I don't remember it being too awful.

In '08 we spent Thanksgiving day at DisneyQuest, which was really fun and not very crowded, and we had dinner at the Flying Fish which was phenomenal. THey also had a turkey dinner special for the holiday, but I couldn't resist the potato wrapped snapper, it was heavenly!

We are going 23-28 this year...I would like to hear about crowds and temps...we are making an adr at 1900 Park Fare since we are hanging at the resort that day :goodvibes
