My kids were 9 lbs 15 oz and 9 lbs 14 oz and never wore any of the newborn outfits home from the hospital! My dh had to run out and get outfits big enough to bring them home in!
I have had a complicated pregnancy. We have had 7 ultrasounds so far. Starting tomorrow I have to go in weekly to get an ultrasound and a stress test. So we should know her approximate weight before she is born.
I had a gorgeous day gown made for my little guy to come home in. My dad was in the navy so it had little anchors smocked on it. Turns out my monkey was TINY and it was way to big. He came home in a carter's preemie onesie and we had pics made in the day gown when he was 3 months .
He was born two weeks late but still at 5 lbs ... go figure .
My twins had different colored matching zip/footie outfits in newborn size with matching hats and blankets for their pictures and trip home on the same day. The blankets were also used as backdrops for the first pictures which looked beautiful. I would suggest you have a blanket that will coordinate with her outfit, whatever you choose for her. God bless!
My son came home in a nightgown with pastel baby footprints on it. My daughter, who was born two years later came home in a white bubblesuit with a cute little duck on it. I packed blue socks and pink socks. I saved the outfits in my hope chest after they outgrew them.
DD was a bit premature and tiny... 5#'s and only 17". She came home in a pj set from the Doll store, and yes it was a doll store. My mom didn't have time to find a preemie shop and DH was clueless...
PARTIAL
white onesie outfit with Snoopy dressed in a Steelers uniform, had a little hat to go with it--we're originally from the Cleveland area, needless to say our nurses were not all "ga-ga" over the outfit.
Same with us. DS#1 came home in a snowsuit from Grandma and DS#2 had on a cute little set with bears on it and a matching hat with little bear ears from his Aunt. So cute!
Thanks to all who posted pics - they are adorable!
DS15 was premature; I had lots of problems very suddenly. I never packed a hospital bag; didn't think of it when I was only 26 weeks. A girlfriend who visited me in the hospital gave me a sundress/house dress when I was still in the hospital and I wore that home; I didn't have any other clothes to wear home and didn't think to ask DH to bring something to the hospital to wear! DS15 was in the hospital for 10 weeks. I got a preemie-size blue outfit at Nordstrom with matching socks and he wore that home.
We bought a powder blue jumpsuit for our son to wear when coming home to our family 5 days before christmas.
When we went to pick him up from his foster family at 6 weeks of age we found out his birth mum had left a special outfit for him to wear. We were thrilled to dress him in the clothes his birth mum had left for her beautiful son.
We still have both outfits hanging down one end of my 18 year old's closet.
Another "I have no clue" I do know that I left two things to Dad ~ name the baby and pick out the outfit to come home in. DS was a month late so his outfit had long been picked out (I assume) but DD was a month early and Dad must have had to go out while I was in the hospital to get it. He hadn't picked out a name yet either and while driving the 40 miles to the birthing center he was being a real PIA trying to decide. Helllloooo, you had 7 months to figure this out, pick something damnit
Our family has a tradition of dressing the baby in solid white for their homecoming outfit. Actually dd wore the same white dress home from the hospital that I wore. So I just needed white booties, blanket, and hat for her.
