What did they ever do with the Allodar Audio Animatronic in the river at AK?

Stupid trivia - who remembers taking the extinct river cruise in Animal Kingdom and having that "Ohhhhh! I get it!" moment when the boat rounded the bend and there was the giant AA dinosaur which we later came to know as Allodar from Dinosaur - you know, the one that escaped from the Dino Lab?!?

Is that big honking thing still sitting lifeless in the river or did they pack him up and move him into some warehouse somewhere? We had a thread on the DL board where someone was stating how much better they thought Dinosaur was to Indy and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. And then someone else said that Indy was based on a movie and so the theming for Dinosaur really didn't know what it wanted to be, so I had to step in with all the backstory on Dinosaur/Countdown to Extinction, and you can only imaging the free-associating that happened from there.....:rolleyes1

So that, of course, leads me to my question.... where is that big honking piece of river plant eating Dino? You never would have been able to see him from the walkways, so it's not obvious, right?:lmao: :confused3

Morning boards,

We never actually got to ride the boat ride when it was open. However, I'm fascinated about the history of the Animal Kingdom river. It used to contain a few clues about the future of the park ie. Beastly Kingdoms. They've all been removed now. You can still see this little tease from the bridge heading over to Camp Minnie Mickey.

(Oh, it won't let me upload it - too new! Try typing 'Dragon Rock Animal Kingdom into Google Images, you'll see!)

What a shame they never built this part of the park! I'd like to hear more about where the dinosaur went. And there was a dragon too, right?

The dragon cave is still there, though it doesn't exude smoke anymore (from the fire-breathing dragon). You can actually see a glimpse of it from the right side of the bridge to Harambe.

I loved the river cruise, but then my expectations weren't grandiose - they were exactly for what I got. The barge boats were huge and seated a large amount of passengers. They docked in 2 places with a potential third dock area built for the eventual opening of Asia. Someone from Animal Care would ride with a couple of critters and then tell you about those critters during the course of the excursion. I thought the talks were informative - they were large insects - like the tarantula, and small, holdable mammals, like chinchillas or small monkeys.

I would ride the whole circuit, instead of gettting off at Africa. Apparently, enough people thought it was either too educational and didn't care, or that the boat ride was too short, to justify the operational costs. A shame really.

Do they still occasionally bring out a boat with Characters on it for a lap of the river?

Not sure about the Dinosaur, but I know where the boats from that ride are.

Fort Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge used to share ferries going to and from MK. Now each resort has a dedicated boat. They added the boats from AK when they made this change. You will now find those boats in addition to the ferries, on Bay Lake taking WL and FW guests to and from MK.

They still use one of the boats to take the characters around the river at certain times of the day...I don't remember how often. I haven't noticed them lately, but I think they do a boat ride similar to the characters doing a train ride/arrival at the MK at park opening. So you kind of have to time it right to see them. Not sure about other times.

The landings are now used as character meet and greets. Always a shame to see a ride fall to the way side. We only rode it once before they got rid of it, though. It was raining and no one would get off because there wasn't enough places to get out of the rain.
