What did everyone think of The Passion of The Christ?

I am absolutely buying it. I saw it twice in the theater...many weeks apart. I think it was the most amazing movie ever made. While I do not only worship Jesus for the Resurrection, and the fact that that saved my soul, but I cannot neglect the ultimate sacrifice He made for me. I know other Christian churches look at us Catholics, with the crucifix in our churches, and don't undersatan why...I have even been told we crucify him over and over again. I believe we need to remember what He did for us and the bottom line is, he DID suffer...terribly. The movie, for me, brought me to a different level of understanding (and yes, I too read the book). I do not know when or how often I will watch it. Possibly just once every Lent. But yes, I will definitely own it.

What does this mean? Are you saying that this movie shouldn't have been made?

Just going by all the discussions (even here on the DIS) that ensued in the timeframe surrounding the release of this movie, shows how important it was. Gibson was "focusing" on this one aspect (the crucifixion) just as a snapshot of some of the things Jesus endured for us--not because he felt it was the most important aspect of His life. Gibson used his own money because he felt it was important enough to do so; I don't believe he hyped that fact. Our church mentioned the movie very briefly during holy week. While blessing my son's crucifix, however, our priest did ask him if he had seen it. My son had and was extremely moved by it.

Don't know if I'll be buying the movie--most likely I will. Not sure when I will watch it though.
