What day to use MM?

Would it be of more benefit to use our Magic Morning on a day that is going to be busy or on a slower day? My thoughts are the slower day because then we are not competing with as many others using their magic morning?
Does that stand to reason?:confused3

It depends on how you look at it. Preferably, I would never want to use my MM on a weekday (Tuesday or Thursday) unless it was my only option. They wont be as busy in general so you don't have to worry too much about not getting a lot in. My rule is to use Saturday because it will be a busy day and you can get a head start on getting in everything you want to do. I also like Saturdays because it is the earliest starting time for MM and I have the theory that a 7a MM is going to be harder for everyone else to get to than a 8a or 9a MM which means less people for that hour. It hasn't disappointed me yet. The number of people I saw lined up for MM on Saturday was soooooooo small compared to the line of people I saw lined up for a MM on a Thursday.

Others prefer to use their MM on the earliest day possible so they don't accidentally oversleep/decide not to get up that early on their last chance day to use it since they tend to get tired out by the end of their trip

I agree :thumbsup2

That is my philosophy... :)

Ok so I checked on toruing plans to see what our days looks like for crowds and then looked to see which days have MM.

Tues Feb 22 crowd 8 mm-8-9am
Thurs Feb 24 crowd 8 mm 8-9am
Sat. Feb 26 crowd 10 mm 7-9am
Sun Feb 27 crowd 5 mm 7-8am

If I go with weekend days then would you use it on Saturday or Sunday; my hesitaion is this is almost the end of our trip.
Tueday would be our first full day at the park and we will still be on Alberta time , one hour ahead.
thx

The way you describe it sounds like your best interest would be to use it on Tuesday. I still wouldn't do it during the week, personally, but I'm an early riser so even at the end of a vacation like Disneyland I'm not too concerned with the early hour.

This is great information. I've been trying to juggle character breakfasts, magic mornings, WOC and Fantasmic in a 4-day trip with little ones and had no idea which one to do when. This answers my MM question!

I think it also depends on who is in your party. If you have young kids who will enjoy FL the most, I would use your MM day early in your trip to get those rides done.

I use my MM the first day I can. It is when I am the most fresh and able to get up early.

It also helps me knock out the FL rides that my DD's (ages 7 and 8) want to ride. While we may be able to ride them later in our trip, we all know they've been done at least once, and we can focus on other rides for the remainder of our stay.

It also helps me figure out my strategy for my stay. I always do MM as early as I can. Then on my other days, I start at another side of the park at regular opening, and/or I sleep in and get to DCA at opening. Again, I do this with the confidence that I've already done FL rides. If I wait until the end of my trip for MM, I run the risk of my MM being busy or rides being down or anything else that may keep me from riding those rides with little or no wait.

...I will chew on it my initial gut said to do it on the Sunday but as it is our second last day we may be tired by then as we have 8 day hoppes and that will be day 6 ...FL is important but no more than anything else kids are 7, 9, 11. They have favs all over the park.

Knowing that you have 8-day park hoppers, I wouldn't fret over the MM so much! 8 days is quite enough time to see and do everything. Stick with whatever plan is convenient for you, but if you are too tired and something happens and you don't get to use it, I wouldn't feel too upset.

....last time we only had 5 days and we were mostly satisfied with out we saw. this time we have an extra 2 1/2 days . I am just a little worried about the crowd predictions. Honestly we never used it last time but last time we did not know that there was not MM every day this time I am "planning" a little more. =-)

This is going to sound sad but I have a 15yr old who has been going every year (normally twice a yr) since she was 6 month old and she still complains about missing things. We go down for 3 wks!

Take advantage of as many MM as you can. We used to when she was younger. It really helps with the little ones. Now we do it because we travel with my mother in-law who has MS.

Is there a Touring Plans for DL? I thought it was only for WDW.

It's not as easy as it seems, is it?! :p

TOTALLY! I am concerned that we'd be wasting the precious 'morning' hours doing a character breakfast, so I am thinking that a character dinner would be better (although, more expensive). Is that a mistake, though - are the breakfasts better???

I also want to take DD to the Bippity Boppity Boutique and, of course, that would probably be better to do in the AM. Since I can book that waaaay in advance, though - maybe 11am-12pm is a good time (since that's when the ride lines seem to peak?). Of course, I have to see what Ridemax says about taking a break at that time...!

Wish we had more mornings!!!

Its tough to juggle it all in just a few days. After stressing over it for way too long now, I think I've finally figured it out our plan. We wanted the girls to experience a character breakfast as the very first thing they do. They are so excited to meet them that this way, they get a bunch in the first morning and we won't have to spend too much time standing in lines throughout the rest of the day to meet them throughout the park... hopefully! We're doing this at 8:00am at Minnie's, day 1.

Then the following day, we'll also start early (kids would have crashed early the night before after starting early) and do our MM.

Then the following night, we'll do a later start and WOC followed by Fantasmic our last night. Then the girls will be able to "rest up" from the 2 late nights on our trip home.

That's the plan right now. It may go all out the window when we get there :confused3 :lmao:

It depends on your definition of "wasting precious 'morning' hours", what you book, and when. How many days you have there could play a role as well I suppose. You can always do Goofy's Kitchen or Mickey's Surf Up before the Park opens which wouldn't take away from morning hours. I usually do GK at 7a on a weekday and have plenty of time to make it to the park at opening. You also have the option of doing Minnie & Friends maybe a little later in the morning so you can get some rides and FP collection in or do it on a MM day, during that hour, that you don't have MM access. It wouldn't take any time away. There's even the option to get an hour or so in at Disneyland and then do Ariel's Grotto over at DCA after they open.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the only character meal that is offered as a dinner at the moment is GK and I haven't heard such great things about it. Most of us DIS'ers prefer the breakfast.

You're going end of February, right? I might be missing something but it shouldn't actually be that crowded, should it? There are no holidays at the end of the month, people are in school, and I don't believe Spring Breaks start that early with East so far into April this year. I'm kind of missing why you would need to worry about crowds. Knowing me I'm completely forgetting something obvious. You'll be fine with any of the days really and I think being worried about getting up so early with it being your 6th day makes total sense. I think between a Tuesday and a Thursday MM I would choose Tuesday.

The OP is going during President's Week and lots of CA schools are out for the week. The crowd calendars she posted indicate large crowds for most of her visit.

I don't think the park will be packed like at Christmas but it will be busy.
