What completely frivolous thing would you buy...

Probably not anybody’s tropical island fantasy. But if you just need to be able to say you own an island... :rotfl:
Sure, not tropical, but my statement was that you can buy a private island if you wanted to now, no need to win the lottery. Heck, the island and a mobile home, I'll be looking in 2 years to think about owning a house again and that would be far better and far cheaper. No one is going to sell the farmland around my house that I specifically selected because of being amongst the farmland and build a Walmart in my back yard with that.

Beautiful homes next to each other for all the people I love, friends and family almost like our own large resort, full of beautiful nature, flowers, water, animals, and outdoor activities. I would also travel the world and buy other vacation homes in my favorite places I find. A new RV to travel around the country also.

Easy, a little collection of cottages with porches and rocking chairs for us and our kids (so 3 cottages) near water and a little boat or pontoon with a cappuccino maker on board where I would spend my days... it's been the same wistful thought for a very long time. Honestly, if I ever get to live near water I don't think I'd ever stop watching the tide or listening to the surf. OK, I'd probably have a mini goat and a min cow in the yard with a mini barn because they are just too darn cute

I'd have a 25 meter lap pool I could use year round installed in whatever home I built. I'd want to be able to open it up in the summer but still use it in the winter.

Ooh...good one! I'd want one of those too! Love swimming laps.

A high end, professionally converted camper van. And a small (20' or so) open-bow boat.

I would buy my son a Cessna plane, and for me, an oceanfront house along the Oregon coast.

I guess I'm a pretty cheap date. I would buy enough points to be able to stay in the Copper Creek Cabins or the Poly Bungalows each time we go. Not complaining about the 1BRs we stay in but comeon! Those are NICE!

Two things to note:
  1. My dream thing is so much less expensive than the other posters here that maybe I should just start a "go fund me" and make it happen
  2. This thread is now near the end of 4 pages, post #70 before anyone even mentioned buying more DVC points
All the more reason to give and give generously to my "go fund me" 😜
