Hi Guys

Hoping you can help. I have noticed a lot of people saying they have booked their Flights and Holidays for 2006.

We have booked the Disney Cruise for the 19th August 2006 for 7 nights, and I am now looking to book a flight only for this.

Our plan is to fly out the day before on the 18th,stay at the Raddison at the port for 1 night, cruise for 7 days, then spend the remainder of the 2 weeks at Orlando somewhere, have not yet decided on the final part of the journey, but we will book that direct with the hotel, so I am looking for a Flight only for 2 weeks commencing 18th August 2006.

Ideally we would like to fly from Cardiff, but will go from Birmingham, Manchester or Gatwick depending where we can get a good deal from.

We do not want a car. I have tried Virgin but it appears their Flights for August 2006 are not out yet. Checked My Travel from Cardiff, but they are a whopping £750+ each, which is unbelieveable over a year out.

Looked at Travel City Direct again from Cardiff and they come in slightly cheaper at about £710 totaling £1420 but their price does included a car at £330 for 14 days which we dont need. Does anybody know if they do flights only without the car option.

Any help would be great.

Most flights will be with a car, as the flight only prices are not out until 11 months before. If you book flights with a car you don't have to take the insurance and you don't have to pick up the car. If you want price through virgin then ask for no car insurance, but don't say you are not picking up the car, as they may charge you extra.

I booked my flights through funway holidays and the only stipulation of their flights was I booked 3 nights accommadation. They said it could be "throw away" where they book the cheapest hotel and you never use it.

With VH it appears to be about £800 per adult! for that time of year.

You can book flydrives through Virgin Holidays on-line as soon as the brochures come out. We booked for December 2005 last November.

We don't pick up the car and when you book on-line you just decline the insurance.

Most airlines release their flights twelve months in advance. This isn't usually the cheapest way to book, but when you have fixed dates, I understand that it's something you just have to do to avoid that panicky feeling (at least that's me!)

We live fairly close to Cardiff Airport, and as you probably know, the choice is not great! We tend to fly from Heathrow or Gatwick (we often fly direct to Tampa with BA), but I think you get a really good choice from Birmingham or Manchester which are actually really easy to get through from down here.

I would have a look on sites like Ebookers, Expedia, Travelocity and Opodo. They are often a lot cheaper than booking directly with an airline. But do compare prices between each of them, because we have found one to be cheaper than the others one year, and a different one cheaper the next.

Hi,
Can't help you much with flight only as I always book flydrives and these always seem much better value. One thing I did notice was that you intend to fly out the day before your cruise, imho if you can spare the holiday time I'd say fly out on the Thursday as this gives you a bit of breathing space in case there happens to be a problem with your outbound flight. We went on the Thursday before our xmas cruise and had a 5 hour delay and at one point it was touch and go if we left that day at all. It was bad enough waitng but would have been even worse if it meant missing our cruise. Just a thought.

Mick.

Good idea Mick, it would be cheaper to fly out on the Thursday too :cheer2:

If it is cheaper to have the car hire and flights why don't you book that and just not pick up the car?

Also British Airways Holidays do flight only. Their prices for next year come out at the end of this month.

Thanks All for your replys.

I did'nt realise you could book Flydrive and not have the car, I will look into that this weekend. If we are able to fly from Cardiff, we would have to go on the Thursday as that is the day they fly out of Cardiff. I dont mind doing that but it means staying by the port for 2 nights instead of 1 and having 1 less day at Disney at the end, but for peace of mind, we are quite happy with that.

Thank you all once again for your ideas, I really appricate it.
