Hi everyone,

I'm a big coffee drinker, can someone tell me what coffee the resorts serve. I need my coffee in the morning and midday. I'm hoping it's better than the stuff I have at work.

Thanks in advance.

Going in August for 10 days.

Pop Century here I come.

Tubbi's Cafeteria at the Dolphin serves Starbucks (at least they did last summer), and it's opened 24 hours. The Dolphin is next to the Boardwalk and Beach Club, and a short boat ride from MGM and Epcot. The Dolphin's sister hotel, The Swan, also may serve Starbucks too.

Sorry to have to tell you but most of the coffee is really bad....supposedly some type of liqud Nescafe stuff that is then diluted?? It used to be very good...Sexton I believe...but according to folks on the boards Disney has a long term contract with Nescafe.

There are a few spots with real coffee. Kona and the coffee bar next to it, Boma, Victoria & Alberts, some (or maybe all) of the restaurants at Swan & Dolphin. Someone posted recently that Starring Rolls at Disney Studios serves good coffee since it reopened recently.

On the restaurant forum, this topic comes up fairly often. Try a search over there and you may learn of other spots.

Nescafe is the "official" coffee for Disney. However, you can get good coffee at Kona Cafe and Boma - they both offer pressed pots. Also as mentioned Starbucks is available at the Dolphin.

I'm a big coffee drinker too, and I don't much like the "standard" Nescafe stuff most WDW places serve. If you are staying at POP, it will be a royal pain (and take lots and lots of time) to drive all over the world to find decent coffee.

If POP offers coffemakers, my advice is to requet one and bring your own coffee and filters from home (or stop at a grocery when you arrive). tTat way you can at least get a few good cups down in the room before you leave. Buy a few paper cups with lids, too and you can carry the last cup with you on the way to where ever each morning.

If POP doesn't have coffeemakers, consider buying a cheap one when you arrive so you can still brew your own i the room - at least in the morning. If you drink a lot in the morning (I do, LOL), it will still probably cost less than buying multiple cups of stuff you don't even like.

Before I started bringing and brewing my own, I seriously considered giving up the habit every time I visited WDW! :teeth:

Best wishes -

Nescafe is served all over WDW. If you really want good coffee try Kona Cafe, Boma, CR lobby or Tubbie's (Dolphin). Boma and Kona Cafe have excellent pressed pot coffee.

In one word it is BAD !!!!!!!

We too are big coffee drinkers in the AM. DW sometimes likes to have coffee after dinner.

I really think it has something to do with the automatic coffee makers at the food courts.

When the red light is on..it is brewing. But people want their coffee and they take it BEFORE its done brewing and it makes it weak or strong.

Every morning I make the coffee, bagel, and newspaper run while DW is in the shower.

Last year we went to the store off grounds and bought a stryofoam cooler , diet pepsi, and hazelnut coffeemate. We kept those in the cooler ...the flavored hazelnut actually made the coffee..."drinkable."

Actually, the best coffee is served at any sit-down restaurant.

57 more days until we are at POR. !!!!!!!!

You have all summed up my feelings about the coffee very well.
BLAH, YUK, BAD!
I would be happy if the resorts offered a better coffee selection for more money. Why don't they do that????

Probably because of Disney's exclusive contract with Coca Cola. NesCafe is one of the brands owned by Coca Cola.

I bought a little coffee maker (Melitta Take 2) for my trip to WDW. First of all, I wanted the coffee first thing in the morning and knew I wouldn't like the Nescafe. I brought little filters and ground coffee packets (decent stuff, but anything would be better than Nescafe). It took up a lot of suitcase room, but was worth it since Pop doesn't supply coffee makers, even on request.

T&B

DH has the same problem - he gets his coffee jones about 2:30 every day and can't find a decent cup. The coffee was much better when Kraft Foods was a major Disney partner, but now that Nestle has replaced Kraft, we are stuck with NesCafe). The previous posters suggestions are right on target. DH also will order an espresso from the carts at WS if we're in Epcot - says that's closer to real coffee than the NesCafe. The little bakery/cafe at the back of Morocco's Tangierine Cafe also serves very good coffee, some with spices and/or rosewater.

its the most horrible coffee there is....I laugh when I go into a souvineer store and they have tins of "mickeys coffee" for sale....YUCK

I took a bag of starbucks with me and little 4 cup filters....the room at POFQ had a little four cup machine so I just brewed my own every day

I am not a coffee drinker, but a friend I have traveled to WDW is a coffee drinker and she swears that the best coffee is the can of Disney Blend sold in the gift shops. She has me bring her a can anytime I go to WDW without her. If you have a coffee maker in your room, you can get a can in the gift shop and make some in your room. It costs about $9(I'm sure that is more than you would pay in a grocery store).

Is good? Maybe I will try it in a few weeks when I am THERE!:p

Hey ladies and gents,

Thanks for all the information on the coffee. Just one quick question. NesCafe is instant coffee. How could they serve that in coffee urns or the automatic coffee pots? Wouldn't that have to be brewed?

Just wondering.

Actually, NesCafe isn't that bad compared to the stuff they give us at work. I have NesCafe at my house for when I need a quick cup but don't want to make a brewed pot. If Pop Century carries that I could live with that.

Thanks

The "instant" version is what most of us associate with "Nescafe" brand. However, based on my conversation with a CM in the Fountainview Cafe in EPCOT, Nescafe supplies more than just the instant stuff we are familar with.

The coffee in the Fountainview isn't too bad - but they actually grind beans (supplied by Nescafe) to brew coffee there. I hate the stuff they serve at the counters and in most of the restaurants. I was told that stuff is made with some type of "coffee syrup". (Take that with a grain of salt - I'm not positive but that CM might have been pulling my leg. It was a little slow that morning and maybe he was bored, LOL). Anyway, the syrup coffee is better than the instant, but not much, IMHO.

Lucky you - sounds like you'll be just fine, then and from now on, we'll just call you "the stemikger who lived" (after the Nescafe coffee). :teeth:

Enjoy the trip!

He was probably telling you the truth about the syrup. Nescafe does sell a type of "coffee syrup" that you can use to make their version of "cappucino". It is pretty nasty, but at least it doesn't taste like the powder stuff.
I really wish they'd partner with ANY decent coffee company. AND learn that iced coffee is not always a cream filled latte thing. Dunkin Donuts anyone?
