What clothing brands do you feel have gone downhill in quality?

Polo is a big one for me (my mom is a manager at a store) so we would get all sorts of things and there is a HUGE difference in the towels from 3 years ago and the ones on the shelf now. The older ones are softer and thicker, whereas the ones on the shelf are super thin and look cheap.
JCrew's stuff doesn't hold their shape the same way they used to. I have tank tops that are 4 years old that look better then ones that were bought last year.
And I won't by Victoria's Secret anymore, I used to only were their bras because they lasted forever and actually fit. They recently changed their Body line and made the sizes smaller. I held my current bra up to the new "improved" one which was the same size and style number and the new one was MUCH smaller then mine in the cup size as far as the under-wire goes. :headache:

So I'm not really a D cup?! :P

I too agree that VS undies are lower quality. This is my first bra from them, so I can't comment on that. I assume that the smaller cups are "vanity sizing." My husband was thrilled to hear that I'm suddenly a D! :)

Specifically, my problems with lands end have been pilling and fading. I think they are still ok for coats, boots, etc.

I'm another no more Victoria Secret girl. All the underwear I have bought there the past couple of years have big holes in them now. Yet, I have a couple pair of the old style Ipex underwear that I've had for YEARS and they are in perfect shape.

I admit I am posting w/out reading the replies, but I immediately thought of The GAP jeans...they used to be awesome, last for at least several years...now they are so thin, and if they have stretch they give out.

I have to disagree. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new gap jeans!!! I bought several pairs of them last year when they first came out and they still look brand new. I continue to buy them and I hope they don't change!!! They are a softer jean material, but that allows them to move along with you instead of against you like many other jeans do. I find them to be super comfy. Haven't had any problems with the stretch giving out at all. They seem to hold their shape for me. I do have to buy a size or two smaller than I would if I were buying another brand, so maybe you just bought a size to large? :confused3

I agree that LE quality has decreased ever since Sears bought them out. Not only their quality but their customer service is lacking. I stopped shopping them after getting almost daily emails then when I accidently deleted a free shipping offer and called to place an order they gave me such grief about free shipping. They were rude and said they'd give it to me as a "one time courtesy" I didn't consider it courteous to bombard my email then be rude about it when I actually wanted to order....enough of that!!!!!!!!!!1

I agree alot of stores have gone down hill with their quality. :scared1:

For those of you who used to shop at VS, where do you get your undies now, not bras ( i actually still go to a mom and pop bra store near me) ?? I agree they have gone down hill but my problem is I don't want to waste money trying to find a new brand:confused3 I was gonna give in and try VS one more time since their having their annual sale but I'd love to hear where you guys shop now instead:surfweb:

Soma is where I shop now .

Victoria's secret
Land's End
Ann Taylor Loft
J Crew
Old Navy .. used to buy their basic colored women's tees . Last few years, thin and barely make it through the season.

I still shop Loft and J crew, just very careful now and pay close attention to detail. I have stopped buying Loft T shirts, too thin and pill : ( .

Not sure where to shop these days. I am happy with White House, Black Market, but they are kinda dressy and everything is mostly black and white . Their shoes are horrible imo, though super cute to look at . I love Ann Taylor , but mostly work related items and I am a SAHM

Try Soma for undies... They seem to be made better than VS and are much more comfortable.

Gold Toe Socks.
They are not all made in the US.
Quailty has gone down. They get fuzz balls on them.
They are not all sized the same.
Our family have used these socks for years.
Not anymore.

Very disappointed in the quality of Gap City Flats (shoes) recently.
Old Navy size discrepancies have been laughable on a few occasions recently.
IMHO

So glad I am not the only one who noticed the size differences with pants, I agree it is laughable sometimes. This is the reason I always try things on:rotfl2:

The problem with this is, it can give you a complex ;). I think jean shopping is just as bad as bathing suit shopping:rotfl:

I agree with Gymboree!! I used to buy a lot more there, now I hardly have any outfits for the kids from them anymore. I got tired of spending the money on what I thought was nice quality (because it used to be), only to wash the outfit and have it either fade terribly, shrink, or just look like it was a lot older than it was. Plus I really haven't cared for their lines lately. I used to want to buy everything in the lines and found it hard to choose. Now I go in the store and 98% of the time leave with nothing because I don't care for the styles.

I buy most of our clothing at Gap, and still find the quality there to be great.

Gymboree quality is awful now IMHO. I buy it at their Red Balloon Sale with a 20% coupon on top of the sale, but that's about it.

I still like Gap for my kids. The quality seems OK to me.

I haven't bought a new Coach purse in several years, but my everyday purse is a Coach City Bag (I think) from more than ten years ago - it still looks great. My other Coach purse looks brand new and it is almost ten years old - I don't use it as much as the first, but it gets used fairly often.

That's great then! The Coach bags / wallets I've purchased were within the past 5 years, so maybe the brand has been declining for awhile. I've found the stitching start to unravel, handle start ripping, etc. :scared1:

As to the PP.. indeed, knockoffs are not sold at coach outlets!

I was in Old Navy yesterday and while I find the baby stuff still fine, the kids and adults clothing quality is terrible. I bought my son 2 polos for school and they are night and day from the ones I bought last year, they are SO thin now! I didn't buy a single tshirt for me, they were all so thin.

Gymboree has gone down...some of the stuff isn't bad but it's not what it used to be.

Soma is great. :)

I buy my underwear at Costco!

i agree with most posts except childrens place. i have purchased all of my ds and dd clothes from there for the past 5 years. i like them so much bc they do not shrink and they actually seem to be bigger than other brands (ie. gap, okie dokie, target, etc) therefore they last longer. i do agree that some of the prints are too loud, however i do not buy unless the items are on clearance and i have a coupon. some items i have gotten for less than .99 :cool1: just my opinion.

I have been so disappointed with LOFT lately. I bought a shirt less than 2 months ago and it already has tiny holes in the front!

BTW, I wash all my clothes in cold water on delicate cycle. Totally sucks!

Are the tiny holes around the lower middle area? I have done a google on this as I have had this problem in AT Loft and other shirts. Turns out in my case it was some threads on the back of my Honda carseat that was the culprit! They attach a plastic piece to the other side. I have duct tape around it now. Others were getting holes from rough edges on granite countertops and some from zippers. I was blaming Loft then realized it was happening on other thin shirts too.

Okay, so is SOMA a website or a store you can visit? Just curious how their sizes are, I am always so bad picking the right size:confused3

I have this same problem also. I was not from faulty clothes, it was from my middle spreading:rotfl2:

I do have to disagree with the Gap. DBF bought a pair of khaki's there early 2010 for $50 and they're great quality. They fit really well, too.
I'm definitely of the mind of buying higher quality clothes, but I've been really disappointed with LOFT lately. I used to like their shirts for work, but now the beads and rhinestones, etc. fall off pretty easily. They may look pretty, but even with hand washing (which is a major pain), I find all of the embellishments poorly sewn on.
I used to have great luck with Old Navy's yoga pants, but now I find the butt and back thighs stretch out for no reason (my weight hasn't fluctuated).
