What chores do your children do?

My kids do most of these same chores except my 10 year old son now has to fold laundry (expect my underwear and bras :lmao:) It is so nice to throw the clothes in dryer and not have to worry about folding or putting away....I love it :yay:

I guess my kids have a few assigned chores, but mostly they just help out as needed. The things that are almost always their jobs are setting the table (they take turns), the yardwork (ds 15 likes to do that), the garbage and the vacuuming (ds 13 does those because he doesn't like yard work.) They also keep their own rooms clean and put away their own laundry, but that's sort of a given.

Things they often help with are dinner preparation and cleaning up, keeping the laundry going, etc. Because I only work part time I still do most of the basics like cleaning the bathroom, mopping, etc. but they know how and can pitch in if I'm not feeling well or get too behind.

It seems unusual to me that a two year old would have "chores," but it's apparently just semantics. My kids have always been taught to clean up after themselves since their earliest memories. If putting away toys is a chore, they had chores from the time they could walk! We also had a mini broom, a mini mop, etc. and they often just worked with us as part of their daily play.

wow- I haven't dried dishes since I was a little kid- they either dry rightin the dishwasher on the "drying" cycle or they air dry in the dish rack- works every time LOL

We don't have a dishwasher and our dish rack is not large enough for our dishes (we only do wash them once a day).

(Plus I don't like the spotting that occurs with air drying. Plus it only takes 5 minutes, so it's not a big whoop for us. )

We don't have a specific written list, but here is what I expect....

Both kids (DD 13 and DS 10) take turns with dinner.... one sets and one clears. They take turns. The setter is also in charge of filling drink cups and putting out all condiments necessary for that meal. The clearer must load serving dishes into the DW (everyone in the family clears their own plates, silverware, and cups and puts them in DW), help pack up leftovers, and help wash pots and pans. They must spray and wipe down the counters and stove and stove. They also sweep the floor.

Both kids help cook occasionally.

They both must unload and reload the DW when asked. DS takes in the empty barrels and recycling bins on trash day.

They are supposed to keep their rooms picked up, but they are terrible slobs, despite years of training, and I usually end up having to help with a big clean up every few weeks or so!

They both bring dirty clothes down from the hampers to the laundry room when asked. They occasionally hang clothes on the clothesline or take them down when asked.

There are other assorted chores that I will assign occasionally, but nothing regular.

Their most important (chore) responsibility is to be kind, respectful, and the best students they can be! I remind them that this is THEIR "job", just like their father and I have jobs. ..........................P

I'm 15, and my only real chore is to clean the our bathroom every Thursday. Which I unfortunately forgot to do yesterday, and need to do it today.
Other than that I vacuum my room, take out the trash in the bathroom and my room, do my own laundry, and just keep my room clean.
