Ok so we have done a lot of researching and about how to get to our hotel at Universal after our cruise ends. We were originally against renting a car but from what we have read it appears it may be the cheapest way to go. Which company should we contact. We dont want to keep the car, just drive to our hotel and drop the car off.

Well it appears that Herz, Budget and Avis are located the closest to Universal. Alamo is not too far. You'd have to see if they have a shuttle to your hotel after you return the car.

Sorry, can't help with costs.

My family got discounted rates from Budget (the official Universal partner) when they combined park tickets with the rental (ask for Universal codes).

Other than that, you can pick any in the pic below. Distance from the Port is not an issue at 8am around the Port area, although you may want to pick one with a drop-off office close to your hotel in Orlando?

If we pick budget can we drop off at our hotel? How do we get from the Disney terminal to the budget rent a car office?

You're going about this somewhat backwards. If you haven't looked at specific rental agencies, you have no idea what the prices might be for your time. You need to check prices as *part* of your research. I don't remember how many people are in your party, but you know that so you can compare.

Hertz is onsite at Universal. So I would start by looking at them specifically for the date you need the car.

There's an Alamo/National dropoff at the 4Points Sheraton near Universal; a $10 cab ride can get you from there to your resort (I'd drop off bags and maybe stop at the store on your way from the port to the hotel before returning it).

You'll have to look up the dropoff spots near Universal for Budget etc.

The agencies should all have shuttles that pick up at the port and take you to their offices.

The Alamo point is a 10 minute walk from Universal, and then you can catch the free shuttle back to Cabana Bay. When we went from Cabana Bay to the port Alamo was significantly cheaper than Hertz. So my husband just caught the shuttle to Universal then walked to Alamo. You could do the same in reverse - drop everything off at Cabana Bay then just the driver go and drop the car off and walk back.

Yes, rental car shuttles wait for you at the Disney Terminal.

You may want to check UberX (if 4 or less people without much luggage). Should cost under $100 and it will save you a lot of time in terms of waiting on rental car shuttles, standing in line and having to do fancy tricks after arriving at Cabana. On the other hand you probably cannot check in before 11am anyway????

Hertz is onsite at Cabana so it will be easiest but rates can be high at times. Keep on checking though because rates do change.
