Mt sister and I are currently in the process of choosing between Eastern and Western itineraries on the Fantasy for Oct. 2023. The Eastern itinerary has a stop in Tortola, the only port she hasn't been to before. What should I know about Tortola to help with the decision? Is there a lot walking involved to just shop and eat? Are there many excursion options? Beaches close to the ship? So many questions! Thank you for any help you can provide!!

We have been to Tortola two times and really enjoyed the port and excursions. The shopping is right next to the port. We have done the excursion "Tortola by Land and Sea" (TT03), which is a nice blend of site seeing by boat in the Drake Channel to Road Town. Beautiful. Then back to the port by bus via the Ridge Road. Beautiful overlooks.
The second time in Tortola we did the excursion "Jost Van Dyke Beach Transfer" (TT14) which is a beautiful 30 min boat ride to a relaxing half day at a beach on JVD, near Soggy Dollar Bar. Fun and relaxing.
I don't believe there is a beach close to the port. You could taxi to Cane Garden Bay beach (or do the excursion) which is very nice.

Walking through the Baths in Tortola was an awesome experience. (Plus you had some beach time before and after.)

Thank you for the information, it sounds better and better the more we find out. :)

The Jost Van Dyke excursion is my favorite excursion I’ve done on a Caribbean sailing aside from a cabana at castaway. The beach is gorgeous and the soggy dollar bar is excellent! I’ve never done the Baths on Tortola before but I’ve only ever heard great things about it.
