can't believe it's almost time to make our ADRs for next January! last time i did this i was making PS's :rotfl:

anyhow -- this is an adult trip - just mom and I so i'd like to explore some unique flavors at Epcot. I have tried the sampler platter at Tangeriene Cafe and LOVED it so i was thinking of lunch at Marrakesh? i did a search and read quite a mix of reviews and some were maybe older so I was wondering if anyone has been there recently? the reviews I read that were poor seemed to focus on bad service? did you experience that??

TIA for any input!

We did Marrakesh 12/26/05 for Candlelight Processional Package. We felt the food and the service was great. In fact the person that we had for a server was extremely helpful in recomending the dinner for 1st visitors and how to make the most of the package. He recommended the 2 samplers so we could get to sample everything on the menu.

I was there last year with my daughter and it was okay. I'd probably not dine there again. I'd go to the counter service, Tangeriene Cafe instead. The service was not great, the entertainment was just a few minutes. Literally, I had time to take one phone, not kidding! The food was just okay. I love med. food and eat it as often as I can. I had dined at a med. restaurant a few days before that in the Tampa area and it was very good so I had a good comparison. I'd do the Tang. Cafe and enjoy a better meal elsewhere in the World.

It is an adventurous restaurant. The day I went it was lunch and the belly dancer performed for about 15 minutes and the band for about 30. Not too bad in my opinion. But, that being said, the Marrakesh is easy to get into, and you probably don't need an ADR. So, I would suggest making the ADR's at other restaurants and then if something falls through, like you get hungry earlier than your appointed time or something, cancel the ADR and go to the Marrakesh.

I was there for lunch this past Dec. We all enjoyed the food and they made a special dish for my daughter. There was music the entire meal and the belly dancer was out for about 15 min. It was not very crowded but it is a fairly large place.

We ate there last week. We were supposed to eat at MGM, but I wanted to take the monorail instead of waiting for the bus so we got last minute ADR's at Marrakesh.

The building itself is beautiful. The band and belly dancer were playing/dancing twice while we were dining. My kids loved it. We had the Jasmine salad and chicken bastilla for apps. Both were excellent. I ordered the Chicken kabobs and I forgot what DH ordered. Dinner was just okay. Chicken was a little dry for me. The dessert was excellent - had the bastilla for one. Light and yummy. DH had an apple tort (or something with apples) - he thought I picked the better dessert. Overall, apps and dessert were great - dinner was just okay.

Service was great.

I think there are better food choices at Epcot, but we still had a fine meal at Marrakesh. Hope this helps!

We ate at Marrakesh in late August 2005. The food, as always, was wonderful. The service was poor. We waited for about 10 minutes for our server to greet us and take our drink order. He never came back to check on us after he brought our food, and didn't refill our drinks. It wasn't a big deal to us, we were hot and didn't mind the extra time relaxing in a cool restaurant. We tipped many of our servers extra (free DP), but not this time.

I would not hesitate to go back. It wasn't that the server was rude, he just didn't seem to know what to do. Personally, I can't imagine going to Morroco and waiting tables; having to speak another language and be aware of their culture, etc.

I always get the beef brewat appetizer and beef kebobs. I did try the chicken kebobs once (I don't eat beef often), and didn't like them nearly as much. The lemon chicken is also excellent, but on the bone and a little messy. The vegetable couscous served with the kebobs is delicious.

My advice, try it!

thank you for all the great input! if it's not an overly crowded rest. than i'll take the advice to just have it in the back of my mind and call DD that day

If you're forming expectations as to the food at Marrakesh based upon Tangeriene cafe you will be disappointed.

I agree with Lisa, Stick to the TC and look elsewhere for a table service.
