What can you take on the rides? over the body bags(purses)ok?

Have never been to Us/IOA but are thinking of doing a few days next summer along with Disney. At Disney we usually bring a back pack into the parks with snacks, water, etc. and have always taken it on every ride with no problems. After reading about US/IOA a lot of them say you have to put stuff in lockers. Can you take a bag that fits over your body(purse) on the rides with you? I don't know that I feel comfortable about leaving my bag(purse) in a locker with all my money and credit cards, etc. We can go without the back pack with no problems but I always carry my bag(purse) with me. It has a long strap and goes over the body rather than have to carry it on your shoulder.

Almost all of the big rides in each park (Potter, Hulk, Mummy etc...) require you to put all bags and loose articles into a locker. But, if you are able to slip your bag/purse into a pocket before getting on, then you can bring them with you. But I will say that any ride that requires lockers are free for the duration of your wait and they also use biometric scanners for the locker so I can assure you your items are safe

P.S. - if you really want to have your items on you at all times, then bring a fanny pack because those can be brought with you. Just make sure it isn't too big

You can not use bags that are over the shoulder...only fanny packs would work. The bags can not impede the restraints in any way.

Keep in mind this does not include all attractions at IOA and the Studios. Just the attractions that do not allow carryon items. You could bring a backpack with you but you would have to have a plan for it if you wanted to ride one of the attractions that do not allow carryons.

It doesn't matter how small a crossbody bag is, unless it fits in your pocket it will have to go in a locker. The only bags allowed on the rides that require lockers are fanny packs and only if they do not interfere with the restraints. The first time I went to Universal I had a small Vera Bradley mini hipster that is cross body. They made me put it in the lockers, even though it was flat and smaller than most fanny packs. This past Oct and again in Dec I saw them tell a couple of ladies that had small wristlets that they had to either go in the locker or in their pockets. I was wearing a small Vera Bradley lanyard with a ID case on the end of it and was told to either tuck it in the neck of my blouse or in my pocket to keep it from flying up.

You can take your stuff with you on all rides EXCEPT:
Hulk
Dragon Challenge
Forbidden Journey
Rip Ride Rockit
Mummy
MIB

Just make sure that your bags do not interfere with the restraint. Often you can put your bags by your feet, over the lapbar, or by the side of the vehicle (Simpsons, Doom). Some rides even have special storage compartments (Doom, Spider-Man, Popeye) that you can place your stuff in.

For the six Locker Required rides, the lockers are Very Secure. Only your fingerprint can open the locker. Lockers are free while you ride.

I've seen people go up to someone who just emptied their locker, throw their stuff in it, and shut it (the door locks automatically). The computer now thinks that the locker is empty, so it will unlock to another person, so now that person has full access to that locker, and everything already inside it. If you go to the touchscreen, it will ask for your fingerprint, then it will assign you a locker. It unlocks for you, put your stuff in, and shut it and push the button. It's now locked, and only your fingerprint can reopen it. To reopen, simply go to the computer screen again.

Also, please do not attempt to "sneak" bags onto attraction that require lockers. I have seen (not so smart people) put backpacks under their shirt and make it to the loading area, where the Team Member catches them, and makes them walk all the way back to the lockers. They are supposed to do that, and have no problem doing that because every Lead and Supervisor will do the same thing, so there's no point in "asking for a manager" because the manager will say the same thing: in the locker. It's for the safety of yourself, others and the attraction itself, as well as liability in case something gets stolen.

Adding to this...the majority of the time, if someone rents a locker properly (via finger print) and they get a locker with someone else's stuff in it, they promptly close the locker and leave everything alone. They rent again and get an empty locker. When the person/group tries to get their stuff out and they fail/the fingerprint doesn't register, they'll have to find a locker attendant. This can take a lot of time, especially if they're swamped, all because they were in such a rush to get a locker.

For the second half, not only have I seen this, but when it rains, people love to "hide" stuff under their ponchos. When it's "cold" people love to "hide" stuff under their jackets/hoodies.

I brought a small purse that went over my shoulder and hid it under my shirt and coat when I went into lines. We were there for 4 days and rode rides practically all day (with express passes) and I wasn't caught once. The saftey bars held it in place and I never had any issues.

Why can't you have a bag on MIB? The last time we were there (2008) there was no issue with bags on that ride.

i was told by a TM that there were times articles flew out of the ride vehicle onto the tracks.
to solve that problem, the netting was removed and no bags allowed on the ride.
it is time consuming when the ride shuts down.
all have to be escorted out, TM's have to walk the ride path with lights on inside to find what caused the shut down.
they the ride has to go thru some procedures as testing without passengers.

only one time i had the ride stop while on it.

some personal item of a rider fell out of the ride and on the track.
ride automatically shut down.
everyone walked out of the ride
wasn't a bad experience for me as i got to look around and see how everything was inside.

So how do you carry money to pay for them? Or do you pay before you lock it? How much are they? Is it timed like the other lockers? Sorry for so many questions, just like to know as much as possible before I arrive.

I use a lanyard that has the UO billfold pouch
I use that for money
It's safe enough for water rides for me
I put the lanyard inside of my clothes when I ride

You could put money in a Baggie and keep it in a pocket
Or use the plastic case lanyards for money

There are attendents nearby the lockers if you need help

the paid lockers by the water rides will cost $4 for the duration of your ride.
i think the last time i saw it was for a 90 minute time period.
if you need more time for the locker, it would be an additional $3 for 30 minutes.

they use the biometric system.
your fingerprint is what will reopen the locker for you

Some rides even have metal detectors - that is crazy. The lockers are free next to the rides that require you to use them. I will say I've never been on the water rides so I'm not sure about that area.
