Day 8 - 12/11
Wow! What a day! I think I forgot to tell you about how much the boys loved watching Tink fly around Tinkerbells Treasures on our day at the MK. They just knew that she would leave there at night, come to deliver the tickets, and then go back to her store. Sean had been asking to go back, so I told him we would.
Youve been there once, but theres much you havent seen! Go have breakfast with Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother! Tink
Off we went for an 8:05am ADR at Cinderellas Castle. It was beautiful up there. We were the second family seated, so we had a window view and could look out on the park. Since its a plated meal instead of buffet, we finished quickly. The boys took pics with the princesses. Ryan loved seeing Mary again, in her red and white dress, and Sean really cozied up to Belle.
We then headed downstairs. Turned out, we were really early. It was only 8:40am, so we were standing at that rope with one other couple (both adults) and Im wondering if the magic would be with us for the boys to wake up tink. Having read the antics of that event on this board, I wasnt even going to tell the boys about that possibility. I told them that, when the rope dropped, they were to walk, NOT run, to Tinks Treasures, so we could see Tink flying around the room. There were a few additional people when the CM dropped that rope, but no one headed to Tinks treasures. We walked in and I asked if shed been woken yet. The CM said no and gave both the boys a sword. She positioned them around Tinks box and told them to tap it 3 times, while repeating Wake up Tink. They did and she did and I did (cry that is.) The looks on their faces... Remember me telling you that if half of what Id wished for actually happened, and I got pictures, Id be happy. I just couldnt hold the tears in, anymore. I was so happy for them.
I guess I should tell you that, Im the child of an alcoholic. We just didnt do things like this when I was growing up. There were not magical moments, at least none that werent overshadowed by something else. So, yes, I guess you could say Im reliving my childhood through my children. How I would have adored to wake up Tink as a young girl.
We stood and watched her for a bit and we all took turns watching her through the keyhole, also. We then set out for Adventureland since we hadnt been there yet. We did the treehouse, Aladdins carpets and the Pirates of the Caribbean. Peter Pan was going to be out at 10:00pm, just across the way. Ryan was Peter for Halloween this year and our new puppy, who was sent to us from Heaven, by our beloved Leia, whom we lost to cancer in June, is named Petey. So we HAD to meet Peter. We got off the ride and DH and the boys walked to where Peter would be, to wait. I had to speak with the CM at the register and then I met up with them just before Peter and Wendy came out. Ryan and Sean loved it.
After doing the whole autograph/pic thing, I told them I needed to go to the potty, so we re-entered the POTC gift shop. The CM at the register finished ringing someone up, then turned to the boys and asked if they were Ryan and Sean. They said they were and she told them that Tink had just stopped by and dropped off two pirate guns for them. (What do you know? The boys had just been looking at those earlier!) Their mouths were on the floor. We headed to the Jungle Cruise and they played with the guns in line. We finished up Adventureland and headed to Big Thunder Mountain because Ryan wanted to ride again. WHAT? Sean and I waited and I got some great pics of Ryan with a huge smile and his arms in the air.
And then it happened. About the time we got to Liberty Square, it began to rain. Richard had watched the news and there was no mention of rain, so the ponchos were where? At the room. $26.00 later we had Mickey ponchos. Seans nose was really runny and he was developing a cough, so Richard and Sean went back to the room. Ryan and I grabbed lunch at Harbor House? I think that was it. Then we did Haunted Mansion. We made our way to Tomorrowland and rode what? SPACE MOUNTAIN! And Ryans response? THAT WAS AWESOME! Lets do it again! This is the same child we were peeling his fingers off the railings at Star Tours, remember? LOL
We did Buzz and then Richard called to say that Sean wanted to come back and do the Indy cars again and Dumbo. I realized I had left me Dining Experience card at the castle that morning, so we met them at Dumbo, or we were going to. As we walked by the Sword and the Stone, I realized it was starting in a few moments, so Ryan and I waited. Merlin came out and signed a few autographs, since he said he was early. We chatted a bit and I called Richard to let him know where we were. They came over a little later, after they got off Dumbo. So the show is going and the rod is choosing. And, if happened. I didnt think I could hold it in. Ryan got picked to be Temporary Ruler of the Realm. He was shocked and excited and I cried, again, as I took pictures. So glad Richard got there in time to see it. Sean was upset, but Ryan let Sean wear the medal for a bit, so that made him happy. I just couldnt believe this day. Waking Tink, riding Space Mountain, and Temporary Ruler. Wow! See, tinks magic really was working.
We went and rode the cars and then had to head out, as it was a
MVMCP night and the park closed at 6:00pm. We grabbed Chilis to go on the way to the room and slept like babies, dreaming of our magical day. And, also, sad, because it was to soon going to end.
