We leave Sat morning for a 9 day stay at BWI. There is some rain in the forecast for Sun and Monday. What can we really do with our 2DD's ages 4 and 2 if it is really raining hard. Any rain advice???? Thanks

Hey disney102105 - maybe we'll see you there (BWV Sun-Fri)

The non-Disneyholics in our group asked the same question. For the most part, it can be business as usual in the parks. As long as it's warm enough, you can wear the ponchos and enjoy the parks. Wet shoes can then become one of the biggest problems.

Just noticed the ages... I've seen people put ponchos over strollers. It may work for you.

In 2003, we were rained on a lot while at MGM. I'm hoping that if it's going to rain, it will be Monday (our "MGM" day"). Many of the attractions are inside and you'll only get wet while walking between them.

Here's hoping Fantasmic doesn't get cancelled and Wilma fizzles :wizard:

It rained for 4 days straight when we were there earlier this month. When it wasn't raining, it was drizzling. The pictures look miserable but we had a blast! We did indoor things-- there are plenty of shows and rides that have covered stand-by lines. Get a poncho and wear it with pride. Get an extra one for your stroller and use it even when it is sunny. We came back to get our stroller one day and it must have rained while we were inside for other rides because it was swamped. For the next week, we covered it every time we left it.

Have a blast!! By the way, My DH and in-laws missed lots of fun by trying to wait out the rain. The kids and I did some great things while they watched the rain from a cafe.

If there is no lightning, just throw on your poncho's and head to the parks. They can even swim at the pools in the rain. If you are one not to want to walk around in the rain (some do not like to), there is EPCOT...many things there are indoors for the kids. I think between EPCOT and the MK, you should find plenty to do.. just stay away from AK & maybe MGM.

Really almost everything for that age group. They are probably not riding rollercoasters yet which is the main thing impacted by rain. We were there in July '05 and in October '04 with DD (3 at the time) and it rained a lot both times. We had a ball!

Make sure to make princess meal reservations if you haven't already. Try Epcot lunch and dinner and 1900 Park Faire for less busy restaurants that may have still have plenty of availability. But its nice to have a sit down lunch on a rainy day. But you can do all the shows and the indoor rides. Fantasyland is terrific in the rain, IME.

Make sure to wear clothing that dries quickly and will not be too hot under a poncho. Use a large trash bag to cover your stroller if it does not have a rain cover. (Otherwise it will get SOAKED!)

And waterproof shoes are a MUST. My DD wears Teva Hurricane sandals at Disney and they are great because even if they get wet its no big deal. I pack her a pair of socks (or somtimes just buy a pair at a store) because her feet often get cold when they are wet. DH and I also wear waterproof shoes, because there is nothing worse than wet feet. If my feet are dry, I'm good to go!

Never been to WDW in the rain but when we had our AP's to DL we used to go purposely in the rain! It was never that cold, always felt like we had the park to ourselves, and most things were still working as always. We all would wear ponchos which made for some fun but goofy looking pics. Only one time did it pour so hard that we had to leave because even the ponchos couldn't help us. :goodvibes But no matter what happens, going in the rain has provided us with some crazy memories so have fun!! :earsboy:

The crowds do tend to thin out when it rains, lots of opportunity to pick up cancelled or missed ADR's (maybe even CRT). Don those ponchos, buy everybody a mickey in his poncho pin to remember the event and have fun!!!
We will be there 10/23 - 11/2!!

Our 2 sons 3 and 5 absolutely loved the day it poured on us at MGM. They were already soaked so we just let them jump in the puddles and get even more soaked (if that was possible). It was still really warm so about an hour after the downpour they were mostly dry. I have some great pictures of 2 soaking wet little boys splashing around in the puddles! Plus we also got soaked so my DH and I jumped in those puddles too! I'm sure we looked like maniacs to the nice dry people in the restaurants and stores but it was a ton of fun.

Rain what is rain when you are enjoying the magic. Two years ago when we went it rained every day and night for 4 days. They said it hadn't rained like that in a long time. Put ponchos on the kids them in stroller. I took the pads out of the stroller, cover w/ and adult poncho when I took them out. While they were sitting their ponchos covered most of it. Took EXTRA sneakers. Dried them a little at night in dryer helped a little. But we made the best of it...noone ended up sick and we still had fun!

When we've had rain on our visits, including one trip where it rained for 5 straight days, we just went about our business. We dressed accordingly, donned our ponchos and off we went. Parks were practically empty. Virtually no lines for anything. And nice warm showers when we got back to our room.

I forgot to add... when my DD was sad that we had rain on our first 4 days, I reminded her to be glad it wasn't hot. I reminded her on the last 7 days, when she was melting and WISHING for rain!! I also reminded her that it was raining at home too andhow glad I was that I was at WDW in the rain instead of GA!

Just resign yourself that you're gonna get wet, and have a blast! Some of our favorite memories were days we slogged around in the rain, making mad dashes from attraction to attraction. The crowds seem to thin down some too if it's really coming down, so take advantage of that and have a great time! :flower:

Just IMHO, ponchos are OK for short-term use, but if you know you're facing hours and hours of torrential rain, some relatively inexpensive lightweight rainsuits will make your time much more enjoyable. Ponchos can get really hot and sticky, and they don't cover your lower body very well. DH and I got some waterproof Columbia rain jackets and pants to wear to an outdoor concert a few weeks ago. They were about $40 per set, and hardly felt like we were wearing anything over our clothes.

We are heading out tomorrow morning as well... I'm not going to let rain ruin our time. The kids are so excited I dont think they will mind as long a they get to see Mickey :wizard:

What will cause them to cancel parades or fireworks? I guess even if it rains just a little?? Im not going to be upset if we miss some outdoor shows. I just want to be there . :)

Whenever we go, it ALWAYS rains on our MGM park day. I guess it is just like a curse or something. But we continued around the park as usual. It is also very nice as the crowds thin out.
