What can I expect to pay from STL to MCO

Hi all. We'll be moving to St. Louis (from the DC area) before our next trip to WDW (not until Dec!! UGH!). I'm not sure what to expect as a good airfare from STL to MCO...??? Right now it's up around 300+, and I'm hoping that is NOT NORMAL!

Any advice from those in the area as to what is a "decent" airfare, so I'll know it when I see it???

cuppycake...I posted on your other thread, but thought I'd add a bit here for ya. No, the $300 hasn't been the norm, but I'm not really sure with the way gas prices keep going up if it may not become the norm. Anyway, on past flights out of STL we've paid between $150/person to $278/person. The lowest fare was a flight on USAirways, with a stop, while the highest fare is for an upcoming trip in July. I got a sale fare for Southwest, but only on the STL to MCO portion as the return sale fares were all sold so I got the next lowest fare, had it been possible to get both at the sale fare, it would have been about $200.

When Dsis, who lives closer to STL, and I were talking recently we concurred that STL - MCO airfares have been anywhere from the $200 - $250 range for the past 5 years, but with Southwest you can usually get a decent fare and their terminal is much easier to manage since it's the smaller one at Lambert.

As your trip nears, keep a close watch on Southwest. I'm in northeast Arkansas and Southwest does not fly out of our nearest airport (Memphis). I'm constantly checking, St. Louis, Little Rock, Nashville and Jackson MS. We have gotten $39 and $49 airfares by "crossing the Mississippi River"to Nashville and Jackson. St. Louis and Little Rock are usually $40 to $50 more .They are usually a little less than $100 one way before tax.That is with their internet sale. You have to catch them quickly. Keep a close watch if you interested in some really good fares.

Out of STL, your two choices for non-stop flights are AA and SWA. Allegiant Air also runs weekly charters to Sanford out of Mid-America airport on the Illinois side of the river.

I'm a bottom-feeder when it comes to leisure airfare; I base my travel dates on when the sale prices are available and never plan a particular date before buying my tickets. That said, we fly SWA to MCO, and we have never paid over $70/ow before taxes.
