Throughout the threads, I am absolutely blown away by all the wonderful pictures that are posted on a daily basis! You guys are awesome. The quality of some rivals the pros.
Is there a brand of camera you guys prefer or use? What is your secret?
Thank you again, everyone for sharing the awesome pictures!:thumbsup2

I love my Nikon D60 digital SLR for my big picture day at the park, but I also take my point and shoot Panasonic Luminex for my everyday, no planning shots at Disneyland. Someone just posted some awesome shots with their point and shoot camera in the "Stopping to Smell the roses...literally!" thread. Everything was black and white except the red, really cool technique (check it out), very sad though that I don't have that option on my camera.

Panasonic GF1 with the 20mm pancake lense. It's the perfect camera for DL! It's the micro 4/3's style camera where it uses a large sensor like the big honkin SLR's that every wanna-be pro photographer is carrying around, but it doesn't have a mirror so the body is much thinner. With the 20mm pancake it is slim enough to fit in a purse or small camera bag and it can take awesome shots that can rival the more expensive SLR's out there. Oh, since there is no mirror to flap it can also to HD video as well. ;)

We use my Kodak ZD710.... It has taken me more than a year to get used to it but I love it
I used it to take my daughter's senior pictures to save some money and they turned out really good heres an example

I use a Nikon D60 DSLR camera. I love using the camera to take pictures of the park, DLRR and Monorail. I don't use it for night shots, but it is a fun camera to use during the day.

I have two Canon cameras and one Nikon... and just bought another Canon

I bought the first, a Canon G2 several years ago.* It is a great camera, a high end point and shoot (P&S).*

We then bought a Digital Rebel DSLR. My favorite.* Takes a picture...NOW. Not in three seconds. It's a little bigger than many but I love the fast, great photos and you can change to a real telephoto lens for soccer games.

We bought a Nikon P&S that is too slow me... but I am very picky after the DSLR.

I just finished purchasing a refurbished Canon SD790 that is supposed to be a FAST, very durable (metal body), subcompact P&S.* I got it for $149 at Adorama.* A professional camera shop.* It is 129 at Canon.com but I needed to pay tax and shipping was more than Adorama. I paid about $160, shipped 3rd day so i will have for our trip.

as for the original question. I like the conveniece of the pocket camera and speed and flexibility of the larger DSLR. We have done one day P&S and the next DSLR. We are only taking the new one this trip. 300+ shots per day for me on one charge. We do this many shots everyday in DL.

For good shots I use a Canon SX20 IS. It is awesome as a point and shoot as well as for some professional shots. The autofocus for point and shoot is AWESOME!! It also has continuous shoot option so for as long as you hold the button down it takes photos one after the other (VERY fast) which is perfect for those snap shots of going down the hill on Splash Mountain...which brings me to the next awesome feature 20 TIMES ZOOM!!! WOOO!! Camera also has a video camera which takes beautiful videos as well as nice sound due to the two microphones on each side instead of the usual one microphone which causes static when sound is loud. Here is an example shot I took with this camera as well as a photo of the camera itself:

For ON water rides the last camera is a no no...due to cost and damage lol, so for water rides I have a small WATER PROOF camera. Which is the cheap Fuji FinePix Z33WP. It also has a video camera which isn't perfectly awesome but is good enough if you really want a video on that water ride without worrying about damaging an expensive camera. This camera is pretty awesome since you can take it 10 FEET below water and still take photos!!! Nice for snorklers and scuba divers.

I'm not sure what to take either.

I have a Canon Rebel xti (which I'm embarrassed to say I still run on auto ) and a Panasonic Luminex (that I feel like always misses the shot I wanted to take!)

I'm a little worried about taking the Canon because I don't know how I would carry it around and I"m worried about losing, dropping, having it stolen etc.
:confused3:confused3

We use a Canon Digital Rebel XT with a Sigma 18mm-200mm lens. I would say that half the time, this is overkill. But, if you want to zoom in (say to get a picture of your kid at the top of Splash Mountain), a digital SLR is the way to go because most point/click cameras don't support that kind of zoom and don't autofocus as fast. But it is big and heavy to carry around. My shoulders just about fell off after a week in WDW.

Background: Neither one of us would consider ourselves "photographers". We are just proud parents of four that have been using digital cameras since 1998 when I realized my wife was burning through $20-$30 of film a week on our first daughter. Since then, we've gone through 5 different digital cameras and since I'm the nerd, I currently have to handle the archive of 120,000 digital images. :scared1:

Sony A850 now after upgrading from the A700. Bringing a DSLR and shooting pictures has brought about a whole new interest in the parks for me - not that I didn't love them before! :goodvibes

I was so close to buying the GF1 with the 20mm for something between a P&S and my DSLR. Glad it turned out as great as the many reviews I watched said it was. Seems like a great camera.

I usually bring the 7d with a 24-105 and a faster lens for the evening, either a 20 or so prime or the 135 when shooting night time shows.

I use a Nikon D40. I guess I'm one of the "wanna-be" pro photographers.

Whatever. I love my camera, it takes gorgeous shots. It's pretty light as far as DSLRs go, too!

I currently have a Canon SX200 IS. It's been pretty reliable and I shoot mostly in manual when I'm there. I am just getting ready to upgrade to one of the Rebel models and that will become the camera of choice. :)

barefootmomma - I used the Canon SX110 IS before I upgraded...those are GREAT little cameras. Even after getting my bigger, shinier camera, I still love that little Canon. :)

I just use my iPhone, and photopass! then I enjoy other's artsy shots without need to lug anything around the parks that won't fit into my pockets (my travel light rule)

I use a Canon SD890is compact point-and-shoot for my photo-taking in the park. One of these days I'd like to get a DSLR, but for a day at Disney the compact works better since it's easily pocketable. Doesn't work quite as well as I'd like in low light, but if I can keep it still for long enough it can get some pretty decent shots.

We are taking our Pansonic Lumix DMC-ZS3. It takes great pictures and has an HD movie option.

I have a Sony A200, but I don't think I want to lug it around DL. My point and shoot is awesome though and does a good job (not as good as my SLR but it is way smaller and easier to carry around) I have a Canon SX100.

We use our Nikon D30 (digital SLR) most of the time but we also have a Sony point and shoot that our dd will use on our next trip.

I love our Nikon, it takes absolutely beautiful pictures. One of the photopass guys even commented on it's quality when he took our picture with it.

They are great little cameras! Mine has definitely intensified my wanting a DSLR, because it can accomplish some really great shots in manual and I find myself wanting to get even more. :)
