Our first family road trip to France in 33 sleeps and I'm making a list of essential in-car items. What are yours?

Granted we haven't driven but this off the top of my head are some suggestions:

Water. Squash. Flasks of tea/coffee

Snacks

Activity packs for kids. Spoonful has great printable pages and the pound shop will have loads of disney related bits and bobs.

A good map/sat navigation just in case

Freeze bottles of water and take them out when tours leaving. They defrost in the car but stay cool for ages.

We are driving to DLP next Saturday. You can tell by our spare room I am taking advantage of the fact we don't have a weight allowance lol!

I am packing a picnic

Cereal bars
Chocolate biscuits like KitKats and Clubs
Crisps
Single Bottles of drinks
The new Robinson Squash'd bottles they are tiny. :D
The night before I plan to add sandwiches and what ever is in the house that needs to be eaten lol!
Red bull for DH

I have a surprise pack for DD with little treats
Kinder eggs
Colouring in book and Crayons
Sticker book
Her spinning flashing Minnie Mouse
Trading Cards
A camera (she loves taking pictures at the moment)

We also have 2 I pads, 2 I phones and her leap pad filled with new and old favourite apps, music, books and films. I have also bought a car head rest mount for the Ipads.

lots of disney music.

If you search on pinterest and search disney road trip there are some great ideas.

Top 3:

Scissors (to cut out the headlamp reflectors that you need to put on your car headlights).

Snacks and drinks for the journey (I always take a coffee in my Mickey travel mug).

Charger extension lead (so we can keep both iphones and the ipad plugged in and charged).

We take many road trips and since we live in Kentucky, we usually have at least 12 hours to drive where we want to be (Disney World in particular). With three kids and many hours in the car I have learned a few tricks ;)

However, the best thing I ever started was loading each kid up a backpack full of busy, fun activities and snacks! I do old and new stuff, so they really look forward to it. I do it for the long airplane rides, too. So for the kids, their backpacks, and for me, my iPad. And a cooler full of snacks and drinks!

I really wish we could drive to DLRP.

I wish we could drive to WDW 12 hours in the car would be lovely :)
