What are your thoughts on Lazy Boy furniture?

We bought a La-Z-Boy couch about 20 months ago. It's not a recliner.

We just had to take it in last week to have repaired because some cables broke. I would check where your nearest service center is, otherwise you have to pay for them to come to your house.

Because the warranty only covers parts, we paid $60 for the repair. But, it's still a solid couch.

The big issue we've had is with the fabric. It is wearing really poorly. We bought a 3rd party warranty for the fabric, but it doesn't cover wear. We will probably need it recovered in the next year.

So, if you are picking a good fabric or leather and live near a service center, I would consider them. It has been a better couch than our one from The Room Store.

We have a Lazy Boy recliner/rocker chair. It's about 4ish years old, made out of microfiber, and still looks brand new. It's our favorite to sit on and we are always fighting over it. We have a 5 yr old and a 2.5 yr old and it stands up to their abuse just fine. Super easy to clean too. We love it

I am on my second set of Lazy Boy. The first was leather, lasted for 10 years, then I decided I wanted something different. This time we have fabric. Everything reclines. Everyone that comes over and sits in the recliners ends up almost falling asleep in it.

Needless to say, I love them and plan on buying Lazy Boy again, when this one(which is 8 years old and still looks and is in great shape)either breaks or I just decide that I want something different.

I am reclining on my Lazy Boy love seat right now! Our furniture is about 4 years old and it still feels & looks great. We have 4 cats in the house and 1 of them LOVES to scratch on the furniture but you can't even tell, I would definitely buy Lazy Boy again.

I love my lazyboy recliners and sofa. It is 11 years old and looks brand new!!!! No issues. Based on some other reviews, I wonder if their quality has dropped. I hope not!!!

I will say that I have not been impressed with any micro-fiber fabric (lazyboy or not). I don't feel that it wears very well at all. Anytime I go to someone's house that has it, I'm thankful I didn't get that fabric!

My dad owns a furniture store and sells it. Their company is quality work. Be sure to buy quality FABRIC that makes the difference. They start with the lowest quality at an "A" grade and go up. I wouldn't buy less than "D". Higest is "J" I believe. Buy the fabric protector. Also, some styles you can order upgraded cushions with springs in them. This will increase the life of your furniture especially if you are a heavy family or have "bouncy" kids. Hope this helps!!!!
You can not judge an "A" fabric with standard cushions to a "I" grade with spring cushions! It is a whole different set of qualities. They offer a wide range of products for all prices.

I have a 10 year old lazy boy fabric covered set...it looks great with only a vacuuming each week and flipping the cushions weekly. I also have a leather set about 5 years old that looks great with just the leather cleaner 1-2 times a year. My only issue was that I tried to buy the special leather lotion from a LZB store and was told that I needed to purchase it from the original Lazy boy store even though it was in another state! I wasn't asking for a freebie, just to buy the lotion! They REFUSED to sell it because the store was independent! And yes, I did buy the lotion in the other state when I went "home" for a visit!

We love our lazy boy furniture. It has taken a beating and is still going strong. We have a newer "generic" sofa and the Lazy Boy is far better quality. I'd love to change things up a bit and get a new set but can't justify it as the set is still in great condition. Happy Shopping!!!

We have his and her's oversized Lazy Boy recliner rockers going on 16 years. No problems ever, get used every night...although DH's fabric is showing a little more wear then mine:confused3 guess he's harder on it than I. Will definitely consider Lazy Boy again, if these ever need replacing.

Oh and my mom had a sectional for a year or two, (probably 20 years ago) and I'm not sure what happened but they did stand behind it and we got all new furniture cause my mom wasn't happy with it.

I used to work at a LazBoy gallery and had very few customers complain, the previous poster was right about the grade of fabrics. Some would feel so lightweight but people would insist because it "matched." I think the recliner mechanism is one of the best and the frames are nicely made. I love them so much I invested in their stock. I would get a long wearing fabric on a suitable frame for that fabric or leather.

Not a Lazy Boy fan. We bought a sofa when we were married 10 years ago, and it only lasted a few years before it began to fall apart (no kids or pets in that time). We were disappointed but we still have it. "The Cheap Couch, as it is called these days is downstairs in the basement and is just tolerable enough to sit in if you have lots of pillows to support you. We can't wait to get rid of it next year and replace it with something a bit more reliable.

Good luck in your search. Finding the right sofa can be so frustrating. When I found the replacement for The Cheap Couch, I almost cried because my search was finally over.

ETA: The first problems were the seat cushions--quickly lost the "fluff"/support, even with rotating. Then, a spring broke in the middle, on the back. It was downhill after that.

I have had the same recliners for 20+ years and recently had to inquire about fixing their bases through the lifetime warranty. Was quoted $35 a piece and have to take them over in my dad's truck, but for $70 and 20+ years...I can
handle that

:goodvibes

OP here~ Thanks for all the help!!! We definately have lots to think about. Still not sure about LZBoy. Such a wide variety of opinions. We have narrowed it down to wanting leather. So progress is being made.

We just bought a Lazy Boy couch and love seat at the beginning of the year and so far I love it. It's very comfortable and the fabric seems great. We replaced the cheap couch we got at Ashley furniture that lasted about 3 years. I hated that couch and will probably never buy from them again. It was a sectional and the pieces never stayed together, I finally had to bolt them together so they would stop coming apart. Also, every time we got up from the couch the seat would tip forward and the couch slid all over the place. Our Lazy Boy has stayed exactly where we put it and never tips.

My BIL also has a couple Lazy Boy couches that he has had for about 5 years now. He got them when his wife was sick with cancer and she lived in the recliner and it still looks great. She was also a very big person, so I'd say Lazy Boy would be a pretty good bet.

Wish we had purchased Lazyboy. We bought Berkline sofa recliner & recline-swivel-glider chair. About 3-4 years in leather had worn so bad on the head area of the chair it actually left a tear. 7 years into the chair mechanism broke, and even though it had a "limited lifetime warranty" they could not restore it to it's original chair, because they no longer make "that model". We now have a recliner. Atleast they fixed it to that point. Said basically, too bad about the leather...that happens" And, we've had to have the recliner sofa fixed 3x also, although they were minor repairs.

Now, my friend still has the 2 recliner-glider Lazy Boy chairs his parents bought over 30 years ago. Granted he has had them reupholsteredd(sp?). But the mechanisms have never been replaced. When the guy was reuphostered them he said the mechanism were fine. He lubricated them...that was it!

Good Luck!

Thought I'd chime in...

I bought two recliners a few years ago and had their "specialty" upgraded fabric put on them. I paid about $850 per chair.

The material is horrible, it snags and the wear is terrible. It started showing extreme wear within 6 months of purchase but they wouldn't do anything about it.

The chairs are comfy, but the frames have also started to creak. For as much as I paid for them I expected more.

I won't buy their furniture again, the other pieces I bought at the same time (other brands) look SO much better than the chairs.
