What Are Your Kids Going To Do This Summer?

My daughter's preschool has a summer camp open M-Th 9-12, so I signed her up for Mondays and Wednesdays-it's 6 weeks, but she's only going for 5 of them.
I stay home with the kids, but she loves school and I think it'll be lots of fun for her. :o)

My son (just turned 19) just got home from freshman year of college. He is doing undercover work for SLED and is going to help out a lab administering drug tests to NASCAR drivers. He will leave for a study abroad in Germany on 7/3. come home for a week and then back to college for residence hall counselor training.

My daughter (16) has a part time job at a museum house and will play YBOA basketball and go to varsity team camp at Chapel Hill. I get to chaperone her YBOA team's trip to nationals this summer - last year they went to Disney World for the tournament, so I got very excited when I was asked.....the tournament will be in Virginia this year. No Disney World trip for me........rats.

Tommorrow is the last day of school for mine.
I am going to try to keep them busy this summer. I have 2 trips to WDW planned. We are going to the zoo next weekend in Jacksonville. We are only a few miles from the beach so they will go there often too.
My 4 year old autistic son will also be going to a day camp for autistic kids Mon- Thurs from 9-12, so I will probably do all my errands during that time.
They will also be playing in our pool and hanging out in the house. I'm sure if I let him my 7 year old would be glued to his game cube.
I'm ready, let the summer begin!

I am at home with my guys but they have a full summer scheduled. One week of art camp for 2 hrs in the morning - they will learn drawing techniques. 1.5 weeks vacation. A week of boy scout camp for each (DS2 - day camp; DS1 - overnight). A week with their aunt which will include 2 hours of riding camp per day. Then it's back to school. They don't get out until mid-june & return mid-august - way too short. We also joined the Orioles Dugout Club so we have ordered tickets to 4 games. I almost forgot we also have a weekend planned in Baltimore for a famly wedding - we will make a long weekend of it & take in some sites.

They are going to avoid my phone calls and act like I don't know they are doing it. Kids!

After doing 5 sports all spring we will do nothing but hang around the pool and go to Six Flags Great America (I work nights so I'll be home with them):sunny:

Well, 3 days after my son gets out of school, we are headed to Disney World/Universal...then in July, we are going to Hershey, Pa for 4 days. In August, my parents are coming up from Florida and we are going to Lake George, NY for a week! :) Besides that, we will be doing the usual playground/swimming summer things! :)

Keep on swimmin', swimmin', swimmin...

My mom is babysitting all summer. (She lives 20 minutes away from us, and babysits every summer and some during the school year, too.)

The big kids (12yo & 10yo) have swim team four mornings and two afternoons a week, plus meets all morning on Saturdays. Grandma takes them to the pool just for fun many, many times too. By the end of the summer they'll be brown as nuts, even with the use of sunscreen.

10yoDD is signed up for 2 weeks of basketball camps (2 hours a day). 12yoDS is doing the first week with her. He's not really interested, but is willing, and I think DD will be more comfortable having him there. It's coed, and she'll be one of the youngest and one of the few girls, so *I* feel more comfortable having him there, too.

4yo DD will do lots of swimming lessons, and playing at the pool with Grandma.

Oh, and the big kids want to do junior lifeguarding. DS did it last year and learned a lot and had a blast, and wants to do it again. DD is finally old enough this year.

Did I tell you they'll be swimming?

And lots of reading for fun, which they love.

And I have to go to work. :(

Wow, what a GREAT MOM!! I hope you thank God for her every day!

We will be moving this whole summer, so that will take up a big chunk of DS's summer. Our move starts in June with the pack out's and since it is coming across the ocean it will take 60 days to arrive, so some time in August we should have it back. Hopefully in between we can do a couple of fun things, but nothing too big is planned at this point.

We are starting the summer off with a trip to wildwood NJ, then she starts dancing lessons once a week, keeps going to Karate 4 times a week and swimming lessons every day. In July I am off a week and will go to the city, bronx zoo, water parks, poconos for the day and just day trips like that.... In August we are going to Disney for a week and other times she will be having playdates and swimming in the pool. I am hoping next year she will want to go to camp in the summer but right now she doesn't want to.

My dd is going to summer care which she loves, they have a field trip each week, church camp and vbs.

Middle ds is going to summer recreation at the parks dept. , joined a bowling team, going on a church mission trip.

I know this doesn't count, but oldest ds is trying to get to qutar for a few days since he won't be coming home during his deployment.

Our family trip isn't until Oct this year, but I do hope to get some long weekend trips taken. It sounds like everyone has a full summer ahead!!

Good Luck on your move....I can't imagine undertaking something on that scale!!! Our last move was 19 years ago and we moved 4 blocks!

After school swim classes until 6/12, then Sat am swim class until August. When school lets out...3 days of lacrosse clinic, 3 weeks of our Rec. Dept. camp (kids choose 3 courses to take from 8:30-12) tennis clinic for 2 hrs a day for one week. Basketball camp for one week. Summer theater workshop 2 nights a week in July. Then off for the first 2 weeks in August and on the 13th off to WDW for 9 days and then back to school. Thank heaven I have only one child at home!!

I'm a stay at home mom so we won't be doing the whole summer camp thing. The 7 and 5 year old will be going to "art camp" one week, all day. We have an inground pool so that's mostly what we do. We'll be at US/IOA and WD for 11 days, and 5 days at the Jersey SHore. We're close to Sesame Place so we usually go there twice and maybe 6 Flags Great Adventure once. Last year the girls went to gymnastics camps for a week but the little one cried every day, so now she doesn't even want to do gymnastics lessons! Oh, and the Y has a "backyard swimming lesson" where they come to your house and teach the kids swimming lessons so we're going to do that too.

We live on 20+ acres in northwestern Montana. My oldest son is in the process of getting his driver's license so he will be driving this summer. :( Both of the boys are in 4H so, as soon as school is out, they will both be working with their animals every day getting ready for the fair in August. Oldest boy has a steer and youngest boy has a lamb. There will be weekly training sessions with the rest of the 4Hers and traveling around the state for a couple of 4H related competions with the animals. Oldest son is going to try to show a cow/calf pair this year, too. We'll see how that goes. 4H is alot of hard work for the kids and, even though they complain at times, they do well and we are proud of our 4H club! :hyper:

I go to school at night(only 6weeks left) yea! DH works out of state alot(construction) so, kids are going to spend 45 days with him up in the DC area. He is staying at a beautiful RV park. They will most likely get to go sight seeing in DC, with DH and his cousins family. Then they are back home the first part of July so we can spend my birthday at WDW.

I have never been away from them so this should prove to be interesting. I will probably cry like a baby. I personally do not think DS 5 will make it without mommy!;)

As for me When i am not in school, I will be in the POOL!

They THINK they are going to lay on the couch with the remote in their hands all summer!!!!

Actually, swim team for 2 of them 5 days a week, plus meets every Saturday (of all the kids' sports I've watched, outdoor swim meets in Texas in the summer are the worst! You sit in the heat, watching others swim for 6 hours, so you can watch your kid swim for less than 3 minutes total!), gymnastics 9 hours a week for one, dance company 5 hours a week for another, swim lessons, gymnastic camp, boy scout camp, "College for Kids" for 4 hours a day for 3 weeks for all of them, vacation bible school, piano lessons...maybe when they're done with all of that I should let them veg out!

DS (20) will be working in an internship program at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh. Twin DD's will be attending soccer and basketball camps, playing AAU basketball, club soccer, participating in captain's HS soccer practices and playing basketball in a summer league w/their future HS teammates.
