What are your kids asking you for this Christmas?

Ok, where are you finding them for $8?? I looked on Amazon and they are around 27 bucks each. They have a set of 3 hamsters for $128 :scared1: It would cost less to buy a real one. (of course, therapy for DD after our terriers kill it would be expensive...)

Also, do you think these are enough of a hot item that they'll be hard to get closer to Christmas?

Walmart, TRU and Target stores carry them.
These have been selling out fast in the last month, so if they don't up production before Christmas, yes they will still be hard to get.
Keep checking those stores websites too, I keep seeing on other boards that they get them in stock (briefly).

My kids are DD9 and DS7. I think that more than any toy, gadget, electronic item, etc, they want the Touch and Brush. My darling children who have been taught since birth that things advertised on tv rarely live up to expectations have fallen in love with a junky plastic toothpaste dispenser. A junky toothpaste dispenser that costs $20! I bow down to the awesome advertising powers of Nickelodeon!

DS8 wants this too. He also wants a DSi, DS games, Wii games, anything lego and books.

Yeah I saw them at Amazon for 32.00 but walmart had them for 8.00.

Golf clubs. Naturally I don't know a thing about golf, so shopping should be interesting.
Golf clubs have to be fitted to the golfer. The length of the club is determined by his/her height and arm length. The shaft material is determined by their swing speed. Loft and lie adjustments are affected by how the individual addresses the ball. Head size, weight distribution and style are a matter of individual preference.

I would give him/her a gift cert to the local golf store. He/she can then go get fitted and end up with the best set of clubs.

I'm done, other than stocking stuffers and I've started on those:

DD (18) - Coach bag & wallet. Itunes gift card
DS (16) - Ipod Touch, case and gift card, a couple of pairs of sweatpants.

DD (21) and DS (25) are both getting money. They're both away at school and won't be home for the holidays.

I took in 18 y.o. twin girls and each of them are getting Coach bags.

DN (14) - Coach hipster bag
DN (14) - Coach hipster bag
DN (12) - 2 hoodies, one Hollister, one A & F
DN (11) - flannel pjs (I'm taking her to WDW the first week of December)
DN (9) - flannel pjs, Ben 10 videos, legos
DN (6) - flannel pjs, Little Pet Shop set, Barbie video

DH and I don't buy for each other. I'm getting my parents a weekend at a Bed & Breakfast. I'll send Omaha steaks to the kids' grandmother in LA and DH's mom in TN. We'll also buy DH's mom a ticket to come visit in the spring.

DD12 (turning 13:eek:) birthday:
She had to leave her playmobile doll house behind in the USA when we moved and really wants a replacement. So will be getting her that and family will fill in with sets of furniture for it. I don't really know how much "play" it will get, but she really wants it and who am I to insist she grow out of a toy:rolleyes:

My DD18 got one of these when she was 4. It is still up in the closet and she will not let us get rid of it. It is her "special toy" along with her life-sized barbie. She cherishes it and so we have saved it for a granddaughter one day. It just might be your daughter's "special toy" too!

My DD(6) convinced my mom to get her this thing.

After waiting months for it to arrive...the day finally came. There was much excitement and anticipation. The box was ripped open. Wow! A bonus electrcs toothbrush was included...whoopee!

We put it together and installed it in the PERFECT place. DD was chomping at the bit to brush her teeth (well...at least this is good).

She's "touched" and "touched" again. Nothing came out. Hmmm...maybe you need to prime the bugger (per DH). Ok it's primed and ready to go. Voila! Out came the toothpaste! It was messy though...got all over the little lever.

The next morning she went to brush her teeth again and nothing would come out. Appartently the toothpaste at the opening dries up just enough overnight to clog the thing. She now hates it and we had to buy a new tube of toothpaste because the old one was now "yucky".

Good luck!

Okay--i bit the bullet and bought 3 zhu zhu's for $75 on Amazon. Yes, the upcharge is way over the $8 per hamster at a regular store--but I don't have to hunt. My fellow dance mom spies have claimed they've searched high and low and they are tough to come by.

I am too sick to care! Got 3 b/c my 2yo son wants all the cool gadgets his sisters have. I figure he'd get a kick out of the hamster.

They got to meet Demi Lovato in August, so DH has declared no big presents.

DD6 negotiated out of a b-day party to get a nintendo DS for her 7th birthday (though to do that on her own since all big gifts are nixed at Christmas).

other gifts:

DD9--some DS games and ????

DD7--probably the Fancy Nancy Dolll

DS2--probably a smaller thomas the train set or other train set.

All I know is DD has had a Christmas list since June and I'm :scared1: to look at it! It's up to 6 pages front & back -- she spends way too much time on Amazon :lmao:

I do know the few things that she's mentioned several times though:

Zhu Zhus with all their "cool stuff" -- already bought (3) of the hamsters (she doesn't want the brown one), the car/garage, surfboard/sleeping hut, activity ball, fun house, and a few of the carriers & blankets

American Girl doll, but she hasn't made up her mind as to which one she wants yet

Wii with "alot of games"

Weird........ DD just asked me if i knew waht zhu zhu pets were. I had never heard of them before this thread. I guess that is going on her list too. I just saw a cute white one at amazon for 15.00. I know some of you said walmart has it for 8 but someone said they're all sold out at the one by me...

DD got the Playmobil pyramid and sphynx for her birthday. I'm a longtime Playmobil collector and the pyramid is probably my favorite set ever. My kids (9 and 7) play with it constantly, as do all the other kids that come over. Great set!

Great to hear:thumbsup2 It looks cool from teh box--I keep wanting to sneak into the basement and open it:rotfl2:

Nice to know what everyone is getting their kids - lots of great ideas. Thanks!

By the way, I assume none of the kids of the previous posters are also on the DIS, and know what their parents DIS under? :rolleyes1

Good point;) Mine actually do go on and post under my name on a kids' meet thread for our upcomming cruise. They never come over here though.

I think you may be right:goodvibes Thanks for sharing such a sweet story.

DD 15 wants: Ipod touch, Coach purse, set of luggage, robe from Victoria's Secret, clothes, earrings, Ipod cards

DS 7 wants: Star Wars Lego Sets, and lots of other Lego sets, that is all he has ask for (the kid loves Legos) I don't want anymore Lego sets :scared1: But hey, they are only little once. I think we will get him a new bike,(he has outgrown his old one) Other than that I don't know what I am getting them.

I have bought one thing, so far! I need to get busy, but I need some funds LOL!

I just got a Toys to Grow On magazine in the mail......I just might find inspiration after all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, thanks to ya'll, I'll have my shopping done record early! These are some great ideas.

Frye7127, I wouldn't be surprised if that dollhouse got some play. My DD12 loves her dollhouse and spends time playing with it especially after she's had a tough day at middle school. I think it's one of those toys that can grow with a kid and allow for a lot of "working things out" mentally/imagination wise.

I'm thinking of asking for a cell phone, some books, and the money for a Vera Bradley purse that's coming out in spring next year.

Im 25 and have 3 dollhouses. A big fisher price one that Ive had since I was five, a wood one my mom built and one that was a REALLY cool kit from Micthels craft store (only $8 and $5 for a funiture kit). I still play with them, even cooler when I can con my freinds kids into joining me.

If anyones instrested the dollhouse kits are actully pretty easy to asemble (once you stop trying to fallow the pictures) and the funiture is sturdy. No glue for either. Its really studry when fisnished. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2663/3894851451_ccc7a7d8e2.jpg not my photo but a good example of what they look like finished. http://www.amazon.com/Creatology-Wo...e=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1255135002&sr=1-5 heres the funiture, amazon's price is totally off.

My boys will have just turned 8 & 9 right before Christmas. They want:

DSis (which they are getting for their bday, upgrade from their DS's)
video games (they will get 1 game for their Wii and each will get a DS game or two)
Legos
Bakugan stuff
Pokemon stuff
Telescope (found one at Kohls online and used 30% off code!)
Rock Tumbler
cameras
futon for their room
books

my DD12 really wants a cell phone-her BFF has one, and DH and i are debating getting her one. i looked at the prepaids at wal-mart, so we're going to check out the AT&T store to see what they've got for free if we add her to our plan. we're also considering buying a wii as a family gift. i'll get her a couple of DS games, probably a hoodie and/or a couple more pairs of jeans...i'm really not sure. she's got a nintendo DS and gameboy advance already, an mp3 player, a cd boombox, a tv and dvd/vcr combo in her room, and several american girl dolls. she doesn't really want for anything. i might get a miley cyrus CD for her stocking, perhaps even taylor swift.

If you want to order zhu zhu pets but don't want to spend the amazon price, there is website that sells them for around $13. Also, on ebay last night, a guy had 4 zhu zhu's listed for 84 or best offer. I offered 50, he countered with 63 (including shipping). I took the 63 offer, I figured that is would save me the time of driving around and/or calling. PM if you want the website. I ordered accessories fromt he website.

I had to laugh when I saw how many kids want the Touch and Brush. My DS6 is getting that and he really wants a Snuggie:sad2:. Even more proof of the power of Nickeloden advertising, he's also getting Zhu Zhu pets. I think I'm just gonna watch nick for a few hours to get more ideas.:rolleyes1:lmao:
