What are your favorite things to see/do in the parks not listed in the guidebooks?

In getting ready for my first trip out west in a couple weeks, I have learned of many things that I am excited to see that I never read about in any of the guidebooks, things like mickey climbing the matterhorn, or the new quarter hour IASW holiday display, so I was wondering if everyone would help start a thread of other things they love to see or do at the parks that the guidebooks might not have mentioned.

Not sure if this is mentioned in guide books or not, but my daughter loved the Princess Storytelling at Once Upon a Toy in Fantasyland. Snow White told a story for about 20 minutes and then she signed autographs and took pictures. The kids loved it.

Not sure if they're in the guidebooks or not, but my two favorite shows are Billy Hill and the Hillbillies who perfrom inside the Golden Horseshoe and Laughing Stock Co who perform in front of the Golden Horseshoe.

I love watching for the trashcan trio and the little garbage can that talks. Also we like to watch the bands at Club Buzz. Sometime the characters make an appearance and dance out on the dancefloor with everyone.

I like trying on the antique diamond rings in the jewelry shop in New Orleans Square. My favorite was a $21,000.00 ring with white and pink diamonds set in platinum made in the 20's...that would make a great souvenir!

I like all the little sideshows a lot including the Trash Can Men and the Dapper Dans and one of these days I am going to get silhouettes done at the store on Main Street.

I have never read a guide book though.

I have perused 2 guidebooks and not seen anything about the Trash Can Men/trio. Where do we find these?

One guidebook mentioned the comedy of the Hillbilly show so we are looking forward to that -- the guidebook also mentioned it is a good place to eat lunch AND enjoy a show (not many people know you can get lunch there so it is often not crowded -- per the book!)

One thing the sweetpea and I like to do when staying till park close (and I dont think its mentioned in a guidebook) is to ride the "sleeper train". Its the last train to leave Main Street station after park close. It leaves usually about 10-15 mins after the official close of the park and makes one final tour around DL. No one is gets off the train, only pick ups at each station. We really enjoy this last trip because the park it pretty quiet, we get to talk about all the fun things we did all day, and it helps with waiting out the rush of people heading for the exit and the trams.

Another thing the sweetpea and I always do is to make a wish at Snow White's wishing well. A trip to DL wouldn't be the same without it.

They had it going on during the weekdays last week. I am not sure about January?

Also, we did a silhoutte of my daughter (as Alice's Mom mentioned). I was a little worried that it may take a long time, it took the lady there (I think her name was Donna) about 3 minutes! My daughter sat on my lap and it was done. The lady had been doing it for 31 years! We bought the silhoutte ($7) and frame ($9) and it looks just like my daughter. I highly recommend it. It's a great souvenir, the best one we got!

What a nice message. Wished I had read it before our trip seeing how quick and inexpensive it was, we should have gotten one of our son. I still have mine from about 30 years ago packed away somewhere, wonder if the lady who did yours did mine!!

The lady was super nice...she saw that it was my daughter's birthday and she sang Happy Birthday to her.

We did the silhouettes on Main Street at WDW on our first visit there -- My dad was very worried about the time but it was AMAZING the speed at which they are able to do those! We still have them hanging in the dining room -- they are a great souvenir!

We got the silouettes of our kids when we were there last August. I agree that they were GREAT souveniers! Also, the pressed penny machines make very inexpensive souveniers too.
