What are you reasons for weight loss?

Hey everyone....

I thought it might be a nice idea to share with others and to also remind ourselves why we want to lose weight because for one its a great thing for motivation and can also prove that we are all in the same boat, and also it is easy to fall off the band wagon with the lack of motivation. I am sure we all have the desire and strength to get this task of weight loss completed, and I see that many of you on this site are well on your way. Good for you... others who want to start are highly encouraged and praised as well.

I want to lose the weight:

- for my health
- to get back into smaller clothing,
- I want to look hot in my bathing suit this year and not be the chubby one in my group of friends on the beach
- So when I play my summer sports such as beer league base ball I dont tire out running around the field
- To have people tell me how good I look
- I want to feel good about myself again and get that confidence back
- When I look at my past vacation pictures I look like the apple that fell off the tree for being way too heavy, and I feel sick with myself. For my up coming trip in June I want to look like a million bucks and be half that size.
- My friend is getting married this fall and I am her maid of honor and I want to look good for her wedding photos

I am getting married in June, and I def want to look hot for my hunnie, and I want to be healthy when we decide to start a family.

I had lots of reasons for why I lost weight (I've lost almost 70lbs and have about 10 more to go or so).

My feet hurt whenever I would get up from sitting down. My feet quit hurting after I lost about 30 lbs.

I had high blood pressure and was being to develop impaired glucose tolerance. Diabetes runs in my family, so, not developing diabetes is a very strong motivation for me (although my younger brother has bad diabetes and is not overweight at all). I was able to stop my blood pressure medication in late August.

I like the way I look much better, and enjoy the compliments I get nearly daily. Obviously, clothes fit better, and I have more choices on what to wear.

I can do so many more things that involve fitting into smaller spaces. I am not claustophobic in the car. I can actually bend over to clean the floor or sit on the floor without wondering how I am going to get up.

I too have many reasons. I want to be healthy for you never know when something might strike you. I want to look good in pictures again. I want to have my family proud of me. Even though I'm married it would be nice to have nice looking guys look at me like they do my married friends.:thumbsup2 That would be great....lol

I'm doing this for my health. I don't expect to ever be thin enough to meet society's standards of attractiveness. If I judged myself that way, I'd probably just give up.

Luckily, the amount of weight loss necessary to improve my health is far less than the weight loss I'd need to "look good." Tests already show that two of my health problems have improved. I just had a batch more tests Friday, so hopefully those tests will be good news, too; I'll try to remember to report back here.

I agree that most people feel better about themselves when they are thinner, and I think that's a shame. People come in lots of different sizes, just as they come in lots of different colors. Unfortunately, prejudice against large people is accepted in our society.

I know exactly what you mean... Im not married but I am 25 years old and at one of my jobs I work as a cashier and every day when I go in I work with about 4 other cashiers who are thinner and get hit on often, are given numbers etc. Same thing when I go out with my friends for the evening on the weekends. I rarely have anyone look at me like that. Im not ugly im just a bit chubby. It would be nice to have someone look at me for once.

My reasons are/were...

1. To be a better role model for my girls. My 2 oldest are bult like me and I want them not to go through all I did and keep them on the healthy road.
2. My Breast cancer scare 18 months ago. I was told losing weight would help lower my risk. My Mom had it at 35 and I am close to her age.:sad2:
3. To be healthier, I have always been overweight my whole life and not happy with myself before I lost the weight.
4. To look like I fit with my DH, he lost 50-60 pounds when I was preggo with my youngest and we didn't match anymore. KWIM I want to keep our marriage strong and the homefires burning.;)

I lost about 60 pounds last year and Now I have a healthy BMI. :cheer2: THe first time in my life. I still would like to tone up and maybe lose a little more in the pear areas but but I feel so much better. It is so easy to fall back into my old habits but I am determined to keep it off and keep taking the time for me. (I had lost 50 pounds before my 3rd DD but slowly 25 was starting to creep back on afterward.:headache: )

My reasons are:

1. My health... My weight is taking its toll on my body and only being 23 I figure if I want to keep my life long I need to be taking better care of myself...

2. I want to look hot... I am happily married and my DH loves me the way I am but I just want to be happier with my body.

3. I want to go to 6 Flags and fit without feeling like the wind got knocked out of me..

4. Segway Tour at California Adventures!!!

Mostly just the 1st 2 tho... :rotfl2:
