Hi

What is everyone making for Christmas dessert? :cake:

Or, if you are not making dessert, do you have any festive Christmas dessert ideas?

Thank you!

I'm buying a premade Cheesecake! :cool1: For thanksgiving, I tried to make everyone happy and had cake and about 5 different pies and everything. For x-mas, we're having cheesecake and if the kids want it, ice cream.

Dh is an apple pie lover, so I bought one. I was going to get a carrot cake but came across a Yule Log (Buche de Noel) at Publix so thats for the rest of us. I also made a candy cane pie (oreo crust, white chocolate ganche filling with peppermint extract and crushed candy canes), candy cane brownies, and chocolate chip cookies (those are for Pop-Pop, Santa and us).

Family recipe for a chocolate bundt cake with blackberry sauce and whipped cream
Bread pudding made with homemade bread (traditional Christmas bread)
Boring pumpkin pie :D

I just finished baking fruitcake cookies. The smell of fruitcake and rum is filling the house with Christmas smells a few days early. I love the smell of Christmas. Tomorrow I'm baking thumbprint cookies and the house will smell like....thumbprints. Friends just sent us Godivas, so I may skip everything else and go for the candy. Merry Christmas!

Yummy cheesecake. But it is definitely not low fat ....uses 6 packages of cream cheese in the recipe. I then pipe frosting on the outside of it and top it off with strawberries. Can't wait!!!

I bought a pecan pie & a pumpkin pie (usually make desserts, but DH told me to "simplify" this year) I did make some cookies.

I made the basic but DELICOUS Kraft Philadelphia Cheesecake!!! The kids and I also have been baking cookies the past few weeks, so we will have those out as well. I am also going to pull the rum cake out of the freezer as well, so that should be yummy! Way too many sweets that we may not eat since we always eat so much for dinner! But....there is always room for dessert!!:thumbsup2

Made an apple and cranberry crisp with a vanilla sauce. We have a wheat intollerant visiting and thought this would work out well.

Usually I make a trifle. I really like homemade custard, pound cake, and fruit filling. But alas, I'm pressed for time and the trifle had to go.

Merry Christmas!:santa:

I always make a cheesecake and a pumpkin pie, we also have a large tray of christmas cookies that we made.

My friend is a chef and she made me somethings...thank goodness. Baking at 35 weeks pregnant and the issues I'm having...not a good mix!! Hubby is cooking dinner.

This is what she made for me :thumbsup2
Christmas Eve (at my parents) a yummy carrot cake
Christmas Banana Cream Pie
Christmas am...Sticky buns (I'm eating one right now.)

Every year we buy a birthday cake with "Happy Birthday Jesus" written on it. They usually decorate it with a nativity scene--baby Jesus, Mary & Joseph, but this year they didn't have all that but they put an angel on it. Close enough! We cut the cake Christmas Eve (there's plenty left over for Christmas day, I cut it in squares), then we sing "Happy Birthday to Jesus" before cutting the cake. Its become our tradition, and best of all, no work involved! The kids get the meaning of Christmas that way more than the rather involved story they learn at Sunday School about Mary, Joseph, Bethlehem, etc. Plain and simple, its a birthday party, so we have a cake for the guest of honor.

I made Peanut Butter Chocolate Truffle Torte from an old Southern Living Christmas book. It was a major hit! Warm peanut butter sauce puddled on the plate with a slice of chocolate torte on top, then sprinkled with chopped peanuts. Yum! Yum!

Does anyone have a fluffy, creamy cheese cake recipe? My cheesecake always turns out very dense. Many I taste are dry. I want rich, creamy, fluffy, and sweet.
