Hey wdwpluto
Good question =)
I haven't gotten married yet, but am very much looking forward to working with the photographer with whom we've consulted.
The most important things for me and DF when finding a photographer were:
1.) photojournalistic style...pictures that catch not just the action, or the candidness of the moment, but evoke the mood and feeling of the moment.
2.) Stylish pictures...edginess and fluidity, as opposed to stodginess.
3.) The rights to our pictures. While I intend to get photo books/albums from our photographer after the wedding, we want to be able to print off pictures without paying a lot of money per print. Ownership of the files, to me, is gold.
I know the line "a picture is worth a thousand words" is totally overused, but it's SOOOO unbelievably true. I know myself--I LOVE and treasure pictures, and I love albums and books, and these pictures are going to be what I refer to throughout my life when I think about my wedding, so for me, the photography takes precedence over videography. I'm going to look at my pictures way more than I'm going to watch my wedding footage.
