What are you giving your mother for Mathers Day?

Both my mother and my MIL are at the age that they don't want any more "stuff" laying around. Usually I send flowers along with a grocery or dinner gift cert. They love that.

When I was young, we were DIRT poor.. heck, we couldn't even afford dirt LOL Anyway, mom actually pawned her classring in order to buy me a birthday present. So, we bought her a replica of her classring.

Geraniums and Lotto tickets.

What do you want from me???? :confused3 It's what she likes.

:goodvibes :thumbsup2 Excellent idea!!

I am getting my mom for staters Nike flip flops for our WDW trip in June other than that I am still in the process of thinking about it and for my Godmother (who is just like my mother) I am getting her a Publix gift card.

This made me choke up. I am sure she will LOVE it!

My mom and I have a Mother's Day tradition. We go to the opera and dinner courtesy of me!! She loves it...and so do I! It's a nice mother and daughter bonding experiene we both look forward to each year.

This year I purchased tickets for us to see Don Giovanni. Last year, it was Porgy and Bess. We've seen La Traviata, The Magic Flute, and the The Marriage of Figaro for the past several Mother's Days.

My mother in law gets money since we're too far away, but we make it up to here when we visit her.

I thought it might be Eminem Day?

Haven't even thought about it yet. I'll get to it sometime in May.

So you thought about Marshall Mathers (Eminem) before you thought of Jerry Mathers (The Beaver).

I guess I am showing my age.

This is what I get my Mother...or a gift gertificate for 2 to dinner.

My MIL gets a check...she is really hard to buy for, and lives in an apartment.

I used to get mom expensive gifts - one year it was diamond earrings, another year it was a trip to Las Vegas, another year it was a luxury spa package. But she'd have none of it because her friends' kids all take their moms out for brunch on mom's day. And her friends rubbed it in when she said all she got was X. She actually cried one year when I said we couldn't make it. (Can you feel the guilt trip?) She now insists that we kids get together and take the ENTIRE family (15 of us) out to mom's day brunch. Do you know how hard it is to get ressies on that one particular day and for that many people? I usually make ressies up to two months in advance. Well, whatever floats her boat...

Wow, some of you go all out for mothers day!
My mil is getting a polo shirt from my husbands squadron with the plane and squadron logo and we had his call sign embrodered(sp?). She will love it. She wears nothing but Navy tshirts so a polo will be a nice change!

My mom is another question. Shes very simple, wears no perfume or jewelry. She doesnt get her hair done or her nails. My dad buys her a lot of flowers so thats not very special. My dad does all the gardening so thats out. I live very far away, I cant take her to brunch. Its impossible to buy her a mothers day present thats very exciting. Last year I bought her the hallmark tree with pictures of all of us. She seemed to like that but this year I am stumped. Maybe I will buy a plane ticket home for DS and I in June and call it mothers day??

I'll probably get my mom a gift certificate to get her hair or nails done.

She is SO hard to buy for.

LOL!! That's what I thought too!! :teeth: The Beav!

We're taking my DM and DF to Port Huron for a 2-night stay. Since DF no longer drives, DM has to drive and she doesn't like to drive very far so they don't go on long outings anymore, so we take them as a combined birthday and Mother's Day gift for her. We'll spend 2 nights at the Thomas Edison Inn, and she'll get to go to Mary Maxim, one of her favorite stores, downtown shopping, see the lighthouses, go for a drive in the country, etc. Last year we took them to Sault Ste. Marie. She loves these outings so it's a perfect gift for her.

Some DVDs of classic musicals/movies we watched together at home when I was a kid.
