What are you getting your TWEEN DD for Christmas?

The only reason I can think of that you would post that is to hurt my feelings. I am embarrassed to admit that it did. I posted what I have for my daughter like lots of people have on here. I never wanted to bother people or make people swoon. I buy what I would like to for my children. I buy what we can afford to buy for my children. I have a very sweet hearted giving child. She doesn't ask for much during the year and we go a little crazy at Christmas. It doesn't hurt anyone and for you to be hurtful is just flat out mean.

As to helping others, we sponsor a little girl for Christmas and have inspired two other people to sponsor kids as well. We donate to Toys for Tots, a local children's cancer ward, the local fire department, and our local food pantry. We also collect things for Give Children the World.

I am sorry if my list bothered anyone and was truly posted with good intentions as I love these boards at Christmas time. I never meant to hurt anyone and apologize if it came off that way. I was just excited about my little girls gifts.

If you can get your children 1 gift or 100 gifts, as long as that works for your family and your blessed enough to be able to do anything special like that for your kids, I think we are all pretty lucky.

Again, I never meant disrespect. I guess it's just safer to stay off these boards. The last few years it's gotten so you can't have your own opinions without being harassed.

Merry Christmas guys!
Please don't be sad-- I think it's obvious you got gifts your kids will love. I grew up really poor, so having tons of fun stuff under the tree for the kids makes me super happy. Please don't let that post bother you!

Does anyone have any suggestions for a beginner crocheting or knitting book for kids? My 10yr old wants to learn. Also, I saw a knitting loom kit it had long and short looms........are they easy to use? I'm clueless over here lol

Barnes & Noble. They have a variety of small starter kits for knitting and crochet, along with other types of crafts.

:grouphug: You don't have to explain. You are fine and so is your list.

There are lists out there that only have a few items on it but are much more money spent, especially if they are electronics heavy.

Anybody that bothered by your list that they have to make snarky comments is the rude one and only makes herself look jealous and crude.

And thanks for all the ideas everybody. I have to get my niece something, but was at a loss. I got some good ideas here.

My dd turned 10 two weeks ago. Here's what she's getting:

Ipod Touch
Boots
Slippers
Socks
Modeling Clay
Art Case
Justice Designer Book
Jewelry Holder
Scooter
Twister Game
Bands for Rainbow Loom (already has the loom)
Wreck it Journal
Hunger Games Books (set)
Stuffed Zebra from Justice

Grandma/grandpa is getting both her and her brother iTunes cards.

This is the first year since she was 3 that she's not getting anything Barbie or "toys" to play with - and it's the first year I can remember that ds12 isn't getting Legos. It's going to seem strange. But once they get their hands on those Ipods, they won't care what else they got or didn't.

I feel the same way. This will be the first christmas without any Barbie or American Girl things for our DD. Its been year after year with wishlists filled with those 2 categories. Now its just electronics (she wants a tablet, already has a phone), and clothes and jewelry. This Christmas morning will feel "different" for me, but we have an only child so its just the ending of an era I guess. Trying to keep the "spirit" alive still, ya know?

Yes, and I am feeling the urge to get DD12 something else. She still likes AG, Barbie, and Build A Bear, alot, but doesn't use them that much. So she's getting a lot of clothes, and other stuff for her room, but not really any toys, other than Wii games. She has her eye on a white tiger BAB- only available online. I told her she would have to buy it. Now I've been having the urge to get her a BAB gift card (at this point would have to be an email one), so that she can have a "toy".

I don't know. She might get some Barbies (Frozen) from DH's side. But she would be tickled to get another BAB. She has quite a few (some were thrift store "rescues"- not all bought new), but she (and her sister) really and truly has played with them A LOT over the years. She would still play with them a lot if DD15 would do it with her but that is fading away! She loves white tigers too, so it would be a good gift.

To Graciesmom....I do apologize for my hurtful and judgmental comment regarding your gift list for your daughter. After an exhausting day of errand running and feeling overwhelmed in my life I lashed out at you and your post. Please forgive me.

We've all been there!

So what were hits and misses?

My DD9 LOVED:
*Rainbow loom- although she has had a hard time figuring it out
*Nexus 7 w/ keyboard
*clip on book light
* her "new" room- curtains, comforter, GC for paint

LIKED:
*new clothes- she's not big into clothes yet but still kinda picky
*AG doll stuff- camper from Target, clothes, camping set from Target
*books- Warriors set
*movies
*portable charger for the Nexus

There was nothing she didn't like although she did get 2 books she already owns so we will exchange those for a different book.

The 2 biggest hits were her Beats and the plastic nail polish holder shelf. That thing was put up on the wall 5 mins after she opened it. :)

My dd really struggled this year with wanting more "grown up" gifts but also still wanting toys. Watching dd7 get toy after toy got to her. Dd7 also received some toys that were on her list but my in laws bought her mostly grown up stuff. My mother in law in determined that she is too big for toys now. So she watched Dd7 get the AG salon chair and beauty station and almost broke into tears. My dd is an anxious kid - it's not that she is spoiled. She just has a tough time with her very strong feelings :sad2:.

She loved the bungee chair from Santa and the kindle paperwhite and cowboy boots my in laws gave her. She also really loved the Furby Boom.

She liked the new AG doll. She said she loved it but she hasn't played with it yet so I'm skeptical. Also she received several sets of AG clothes.

She seemed the most disappointed but did a great job hiding it when she opened the hello kitty makeup bag my in laws gave her. She also wasn't crazy about the duct tape my mom gave her. I think she is over duct tape art.

My dd10s favorites were the iPod Touch and Wreck It Journal. She was also quite excited by an alarm clock (we will see how excited she is when it starts waking her up) and the set of Hunger Games Books. I thought she would really like the art case because she's always drawing but I haven't seen it out yet. The one flop was the Twister Rave sling thing.

Im a guy but i get lots of my friends stuff for Christmas. Gift Cards are always good, because then they can go buy what they want. A lot of my friends like Pura Vida bracelets, because they are simple but make a statement. I wear one for the Surfrider foundation, one that supports mental health awareness, and my friend gave me a custom one that matches hers. They all have special meaning, and certain ones support charities and funds. Some people, like me, only wear one or 2, but there are plenty of people that wear 10+. I also give them lots of stuff from Vans, because I have loads of points. Vans are a trendy piece that lots of kids enjoy wearing. Pretty much anything thats the current vibe will be a great gift.
