What are you getting your Teen DS's this Christmas?

I have worked all year to gather the following for my DS (13yr):

The entire Star Wars book series (can't remember the exact number but there are over 300 books, easy)
Five Nintendo DS games
Glow Sticks (we play games at night, no lights in the country, so this is fun)
and
A family vacation to Disney, where he has $200 to spend on whatever he wants

Sounds great, I really never knew there were 300 Star Wars books, my son is a big fan. Every year people ask me what I got for my husband for Christmas and I always say 3 weeks in Disneyworld! I think they think its strange that we don't buy each other anything, but we always put the money towards our trip.

It is a very large series that is still being added to -- the newest book Crucible was just released in July or August. Some of the books are e-books only and many of the older books are out of print but available on Ebay. We gave him half the books back in September for his birthday, so he will receive the rest for Christmas.

That doesn't make sense.

I have an older ipod 4 and an ipad 2 and both updated to ios7.

My 13 year old finally came up with something, he wants a 5th generation ipod touch. He got a 4th gen one last year and up until this weekend was perfectly happy with it. Apparently because he can't upgrade to IOS7 he can't get some of his apps to update
He hasn't really asked for anything else so I'm going to just get him that.

You updated an ipod touch 4th generation to ios7 and can use all the features of ios7? According to apple ios7 is not compatible with the 4G.
The Ipad 2 is though.
This is what is listed on apple's site for system requirements
iPhone 4 and later
iPad 2 and later
iPad mini
iPod touch (5th generation)

My boys have a more updated list and I have some ideas based on what they have said they want.

Oldest (almost 16)

Wii U
Some games
A couple of movies
Better phone for texting
Steam gift cards

Middle (almost 14)

Duck Dynasty series on DVD
Better texting phone
The last two books of the Divergent series
A few Xbox or Wii games
Steam Gift Cards

Youngest (9)

Games
Steam gift cards
Skylanders Swamp Force
Disney Infinity

My 12 yr old is getting an electric guitar and Rocksmith 2014. He plans to teach himself. (Already plays trombone and cello) Didn't want to spend a lot on a beginner guitar. This morning I was on Best Buy and bought Maestro by Gibson guitar on sale for $99.99 and Rocksmith 2014 on sale for $49.99 and because I bought both, I got another $50 off making the total around $107 with tax.

My 18 & 16 yr old boys have lists that include video games, gift cards, Xbox points, hoodies, Vans and candy (like that super huge Reese's.)

Anyone here subscribed to the tween ds thread that could post a link? I thought I did but I was wrong and I can't find it. Thanks!

I need more ideas. My son has asked for very little. He plays lacrosse and doesn't need more gear, he plays video games and only had asked for one, and my parents bought that for him. He is almost 15.

I am in the same boat. I have twin DSs 14. They no longer have time for video games, too busy at school. One has asked for a newton's cradle and the other one has no ideas. :sad2: So, I am thinking of giving them their own checking account. They can use the money for summer camps, fixing up the old truck for when they start driving, etc.
Now DS 12 wants a lot, but is not getting a phone or ipad. He will get a baseball glove and hunting stuff, his 2 main hobbies.
They said they really don't need any presents since we just returned from Disney. But it makes me sad that I can't come up with one "wow" gift this year.

DS16 had a fairly short list this year. Usually it's full of video games but he's not liking the newly released stuff. Here's what i've gottne him so far-
Nintendo 3DS XL
Grand Theft Auto V
The Office dvd
Family Guy dvd
Manchester United tshirt and hat
New Balance shoes
No idea what else to get him. Maybe some iTunes, Steam and Xbox gift cards.

They love Flow Society shorts, so I will have them find a few pairs each that they like and will get some of them. If you don't know what they are, do a search of them-they are CRAZY!

.

In our house they are simply referred to as "Ugly Lax Shorts" LOL I need dto get my boys each a pair this year...thanks for the reminder!

We have preordered a PS4 and NBA Live 2K14 for our DS (he turns 18 in mid January). His stocking will consist of gift cards (Subway, iTunes, etc.), movie passes, socks, etc.

He is a huge clothes horse, and has more clothes than any human being should ever possess at one time :crazy2:. I refuse to buy him anything more to wear unless its an undergarment of some sort.

Sigh....then I have to figure out something to get him for his birthday 3 weeks later. Why couldn't he have been born in June?!?

OMG...I'm right there with ya. Oldest son turns 19 on January 15th. He has asked for a Xbox One, so that took care of Christmas. He, too, will get gift cards for his stocking. They are very useful at college.

Then three weeks later I'm buying again. There's a concert ticket he has asked for, so probably that and maybe a game for his new system.

January birthdays are certainly bad. Only thing worse would be a Christmas birthday. :lmao:

DS16 is getting

A custom-made baseball glove
A bat
UnderArmour Hoodie
Jake cologne from Hollister
pajama pants and t shirt

In his stocking~
Replacement blades for his razor
Chapstick
socks for VB
Gas cards
Nuts/candy

His 17th birthday is a few weeks after Christmas, but he isn't getting anything, since we just paid big bucks for his travel elite VB team dues and paid off his 2014 summer trip to Costa Rica.

Two older boys are getting ENO backpacking hammocks and mosquito covers. They camp and backpack fairly often.

DS(19/college student) is getting

PS4 and a couple of games
New tires for his car (he came home for Thanksgiving and needed 4 new tires!)
Moto-X cellphone
clothes and sneakers

Stocking:
"Emergency Wallet" (cheap wallet w/gift cards for those "broke student" days)
Steam Gift Card
Playstation Plus 12-Month Subscription
Portable Cell Phone Charger
Cards Against Humanity

Bumping. Went shopping today still need ideas boys 16 15 and 19. 19 year old actually gave us a decent list. Not so much for the others...

Have you ever looked at the MADLAX website? They have different styles that my kids like. Also, look at Sport Stop website. They have different ones also.

I found an 8 foot lacrosse rebounder that I got 20% off at Dick's. One son wanted new LAX gloves, he picked 2 pr that he liked, both $200.00! We walked into JonnyMac's one day and they had some that were even more comfortable and tough looking for $50.00 on clearance. The other guy wanted a Brine head to replace the one he has been using for 4 years (afraid it will break soon) and we found it on Amazon for $15.00, we bought two. They don't make it anymore and our local lax store wanted about $75.00 for it.

Our kids didn't only wanted one video game each this year, usually they have many, many more on their lists. I bought a nice TSA lockable guitar case for our youngest, and we are still behind on our oldest and he has no ideas. Maybe the checking account idea will work.
