What are you getting your teen DD's for Christmas?

Amazon can have some amazing deals on books. You can get some reply interesting ones, for basically shipping and handling. "The Lovely Bones", for example. Just a few bucks.

Or buy used paperbacks. When I was a teen, I would have thought I'd died and gone to heaven if I'd gotten a box of good paperbacks. I'm hitting up a used bookstore tomorrow for my daughter, and see what I can find.

Wow! Your kids are all truly blessed that they have such lavish gifts to be thankful for.
With the passing of my husband and the loss of my job, Christmas will be limited to some body spray from B&B and a couple t-shirts from Aero for my 13 year old.
I am thankful she understands but the feeling of not being able to provide the types of things she wants (ie Ipad) is a feeling that sits in the pit of your stomach.
I hope you all know how blessed you are :thumbsup2

This is kind of what I thought when I read all these replies! I'm not sure what my 13 yr old DD is getting yet, money is tight for us this year too and I have a husband and a job!! I'm hoping to get her a few small things. We've never bought expensive gifts like ipads, ipods or laptops for her. She has an ipod touch she bought herself with money she saved. (I was proud of her for doing this).

My DD also understands why we can't buy so many presents and she's fine with it too. But I know, I sometimes wish I could buy big presents too. But, it's not the presents that matter. It's being with family and celebrating the season that matters most. :goodvibes

I've done both. When dd was small I was on my own and it was never more than $100 for Christmas. This year it's $600. I have never seen a difference in how much it was appreciated or her attitude honestly. You can have a wonderful Christmas and raise a wonderful child regardless.:)

My DD13 has asked for:

Beats Headphones
Iphone
2 Xbox Dance Games
Itunes Gift Card

Her surprise gift from us will be a Pandora bracelet with several charms. She will be so surprised! :)

I always get her a few gift cards to go in her stocking; however, she needs a wallet so I'm on the hunt for one and I'll put those in there also.

Things are tight around here so I've been able to make it work. I purchased the bracelet back in September when they had their semi-annual event; I purchased a $50 itunes card for $40 from Best Buy; I purchased the 2 xbox games for $25 a piece on Black Friday. I will be using a Best Buy gift card to purchase the beats headphones and she's eligible for an upgrade on her phone so we're upgrading her to the Iphone 4S. It's currently $99 but I'm hoping I can get a better deal on it between now and Christmas. I find it easier for me if I spread out the purchase of gifts between several months. KWIM

Yep.. this is how I do it too. I get a little bit every time I catch a sale or sock away some extra. I don't think I have bought a single thing at full price for Christmas this year. One of the video games I got on Black Friday for 24.99 is 59.00 everywhere now. I can stretch our Christmas budget quite a bit by being careful:)

The only thing DD has hinted about is a camera that can do macro shots, so she's getting a used Cannon Rebel.
The rest are just stocking stuffers:
A closeup mirror that suction cups to the bathroom mirror. (I'm hoping this will help her do her own eye makeup. :thumbsup2 )
Cinnamon Toothpaste. (I don't buy specialty flavors every day, so this is a treat, lol.)
A $20 gift card to Half Price Books or Berean Bookstore.
Hair Clips
Hunger Games t-shirt
Peppermint Peeps dipped in chocolate.
A pair of compression tights for running. (It's starting to get cold out there and she's still running in shorts. Brrr...)

We always get a game as a family gift and this year it's Apples to Apples.

She's going to LOVE the camera! I can't wait!

My DD was born on Christmas Eve so it gets a little tricky.

For her birthday she is getting an iPhone. My husband upgraded his and she is getting his old one. She is going to be completely thrilled with this.

We have been trying to up cycle more and more and that is the theme this Christmas.

I purchased a really pretty ornate vanity for her room which I will be painting with chalk paint. I bought it at a yard sale for 25.00

She is also getting a large stand alone jewelry box that I bought at a flea market for 50.00 that will also be painted to match the vanity.

I am adding in an Ugg like pair of boots, nail polish and some Claire's stuff and a big box of Justice clothes I bought on Craigslist.

I do a "Let's Make a Deal" type exchange with my family on Christmas Eve so she will get some candy and hair accessories with that.

My dd is 15 and she's all of a sudden gotten very girly
Sparkly uggs
Sparkly toms
Nightmare before Christmas lamp
iPod dock/alarm clock
American eagle outfits (3)
A few movies
Make up
Couple of shirts from kohls
Pajamas
Stocking stuffers( candy, underwear, gum, and headphones)
The uggs and toms really blew th budget with her so she won't get as many gifts as her brother and sister but she's okay with that

My dd is 15 too and this year is when all of a sudden she is doing her hair for hours and had makeup and clothes on her wish list. As I mentioned earlier she couldn't have cared less up until this year and even now she doesn't need or want the latest trends, but she is getting particular about how she looks and enjoying perfume and a little bit of make up and stuff. It's a little hard to watch them grow up isn't it? So much easier when everything on her list came from Toys R Us:rotfl:

My DD13 is getting-

Boots like Uggs, but not by Uggs
Disco light
Hollister sweatpants & hoodies
Vera Bradley Backpack
Monogrammed ipod case
Hot pink ipod charger
'Left Behind' kids edition books
Door curtain for her room
Duct tape
Make-up brushes
Nail Art kit
Make-up mirror
earrings
And a ping-pong table for DD & DS. The ping-pong table actually belonged to my sister whose kids are grown & gone now. Helps us & helps her free up some of her storage building space. :thumbsup2

I'm thinking about a Loopdedoo bracelet maker as a joint gift for the girls. QVC's has double the embroidery thread of any other merchant.

I also added a couple of jigsaw puzzles to my Amazon cart- a Lewis & Clark one for DD14 (she's a fan), and a tiger one for DD11. They like to do them with me in the winters. DD11 will probably want to glue the tiger one and hang it up- it's pretty.

She spends so much time on her hair and makeup now! The benefit to it all though is that if I have somewhere nice to go my hair and makeup look good cause I have her do it! Lol.
