What are you getting your kids for Christmas?

my DD2's big gift will be a kitchen set. i got her the cutest 50s diner style one. It has a jukebox on the booth's table.

i'm sure she will also get some gifts from disney world

My kids are only allowed to ask for one thing. I have done this since they were first born, although they will get other things.

My youngest 9 - asked for Rebecca (AG doll) she is also getting a bike, and Cecile (AG doll)

My 11yo - asked for Sonali (AG doll) she is also getting Gwen (AG doll) and a tablet.

My 13 yo - he only wants a phone and a game :confused3 So I am not sure, maybe I will get the Disney Stock for him as well.

So far, I've gotten each of them a single share of Disney stock. (I want to get each a binder, and let them choose--within reason-- a single share for future birthdays and Christmases. Not exactly a "stock portfolio" but I want to build the idea. )

And each of my girls has gotten a leotard for gymnastics.

I want to get each a piece of luggage for our upcoming Disney trip.

Any other ideas out there?

We are redesigning our basement and getting them both a ping pong table. Years ago, we made a playroom for them. Now that they are getting older, we decided the big gift would be a place they could have friends over and hang out. We'll probably put up a dart board, move all the video games and some great "clubhouse" type furniture.

Other than that, I take DD to Disney on Ice every year as one gift and DS gets Bruins tickets.

Today is the last day to purchase paper stocks according to Mousesavers.com.

I like the idea of encouraging investing in their future with stock. I also like the idea of encouraging "giving" - making giving as much of a tradition at Christmas as "getting". Visiting someone in an old folks home, volunteering at a soup kitchen, for kids who are showered with tons of gifts- they could choose one of their new gifts to re-wrap and give away to someone less fortunate. etc. etc. Involving them in actually "serving" not just giving money is imho what the season is actually about.

Sad but very true. We found out last week and since we had kept meaning to but never did we finally made stock purchases for the kids. We had to overnight the forms etc. One person told my DH you had to have all the paperwork in by today. Another person said as long as the envelope was post marked by today you were OK. :confused3

We are thinking about a wii U for Christmas since it will play most of the regular wii games. Our wii is on its last legs and there are a couple of new wii U games that look good.

on the actual disney stock site they say have it in by the 16th.... so any last minuters out there, you still have time

If anyone is looking for Disney Infinity starter kit for the PS3 it is 12.96 at Walmart.com and you can pick up at the store. Came to 13.83 after tax

DD16 is hard to buy for. she has a car (no license yet, we're still working on driving skills), iPod, nook, TV with dvd/vcr player, smartphone and a computer (desktop). the only thing i've gotten her so far is a $50 iTunes card (for $40 from staples-WOOHOO!). she'll probably get a new VB purse-maybe one of the disney ones-, new PJs, makeup and some winter clothes, and that's more than enough, lol. maybe a new Wii game or two.

I believe Disney is still going to sell single stocks, they just aren't going to give you a pretty certificate. So what you can do is just buy a single share from someplace like Sharebuilder and then create your own art work saying you own stock. I did this for my DH when I got him a share of Apple stock. I just grabbed the Apple logo and in Photoshop added something like "Apple Shareholder" below it. Then, I bought an inexpensive but nice-looking black frame. I could have jazzed it up more but since Apple is fairly minimalistic on design, I went plain. I'm going to buy DS and DH Disney stocks through Sharebuilder for Christmas and do the same thing but just make it prettier.

Oldest DS(10): Disney Infinity plus a few characters, remote control truck, some random lego sets, new nerf gun, new backpack for school, swim gear for swim team, clothes, and a few books

DS(3): train table, imaginext dinosaur, remote control car, boots (western and rain), some books for his leappad, and some kind of train set.

Has anyone used Thomas Trackmaster tracks on a train table? We've got a ton of geotrax already, plus quite a bit of trackmaster. I'm debating adding a third wooden set to the mix or trying to see if the trackmaster will fit.

My semester ends five days before Christmas (and one day before Yule, which we also celebrate), plus we are travelling to my folks for the holidays, so the thought of having to do shopping on top of all that was giving me a panic attack. Then I remembered our DCL OBB and that my parents are a day's drive from port... so DH and the kids are getting four nights on the Magic instead of presents this year. ;)

Our surprise trip beginning Nov. 14th will be part of their gifts, but other than that:

DS13: University of Michigan Hoodie, plus 1-week football camp "tuition" at UM Football Technical School in June of '14 (he has gone to the youth weekend camp the past three years, but this year since he will be entering HS in the fall, he qualifies for the week camp but he doesn't know that we have agreed to it yet), plus a couple smallish gift cards for ITunes and Subway, etc.

DD9:

What she wants: iphone 5, Ipod next generation whatever-whatever-blah-blah-blah, a horse, tumbling/gymnastics classes every day, expensive art supplies and sketching pencils (she is a very good artist), and a surprise trip to somewhere ;) (I swear she knows we are up to something LOL)

What she is going to get: possibly a (used, from Gamestop or the like) Ipod touch, a surprise trip to somewhere (yayyy!!!), Prismacolor Scholar Colored Pencils and Prismacolor Turquoise graphite pencils, an extra gymnastics/tumbling session per week, and a University of Michigan jersey.

DS7 1/2: This kid would be happy with a pair of socks! LOL But he lives, breathes, and plays football just about 24/7 (in addition to being in his 3rd season of tackle football already), so he will be getting a backstop catcher/rebounder so he can play against himself when there is nobody to play catch with, a new bike since he is outgrowing his 16 inch wheel bike, the family Disney trip, a University of Michigan jersey (can you tell we are a football....especially UM...family???!!), and probably a toy or two.

All three are getting a stocking filled with hair stuff, cologne, little toys, etc as well.

On the OneShare web page it says they will issue some sort of electronic certificate instead of the official one. Not sure what that would look like, but I guess they do it for a few others as well.

Last year we bought her a "Trunki" - ride on luggage that made our time in the airports SOOO much easier. And that's how we broke the news that we were going to WDW.

While we were on our trip we bought one of the Disney Animator drawings, secretly so she doesn't know we have it. We're going to give it to her for Yule this year, breaking the news that we're going back. :) We've also got a bunch of Disney pins on order, and they'll be going into her advent calendar. So every day in December she'll get a pin for her lanyard. We didn't know what a big deal autographs or pin trading were... so want her to be able to participate this next trip.

Wish we could afford to go every year. LMAO So while it's two years in a row for us this time, it'll likely be a two or three year wait for our third trip. ;) Even more reason to make this next one SUPER special.

My daughter is 8 yrs old and totally loves those American Girl Dolls and all that you can get for them.....clothing, accessories. She needs a new bike so that's a possibility.
