What are you getting your husband/SO for Christmas?

I have DH's birthday and Christmas coming up, so I'm looking for some ideas. And I thought it might be helpful for others to get ideas, too!

Right now my ideas are:
- bottle of his favorite whiskey (it will take him about a year to go through it, so it works out well!)
- fancy lather shaving cream stuff he wants (with the lather brush - he has gotten into this recently)
- a new t-shirt for his favorite college sports team (he wears his all the time and they are getting worn out!)

Anyone else have any good ideas?

Computer stuff I think.
When we're getting close to Christmas and want/need something we tell the other one and wait to get it for Christmas. It ends up being more practical than fun but we don't mind. He wants to upgrade the graphics processor on our desktop and that will require a few other parts being upgraded as well. When all is said and done it will be about $400 so he's getting computer pieces for Christmas. Any fun money we save for vacations instead of gifts. We're boring:rotfl:

Good thread. I hope to get some ideas. Dh got the fancy shaing stuff last year, it takes so little that he still has 1/2 of the bottle of soap and aftershave. It does smell lovely. Hmmm maybe some cologne. It is useful and at the same time a bit of a splurge.....

These will sound kind of odd, but they will be big hits with dh, lol.

This year, he's getting a 3-cent piece (from 1866) and a remote-controlled helicopter that has an attached camera/video camera.

In addition to just a couple small gifts that we surprise each other with, we usually just decide on a big item around the house that we'd both like and buy each other that for Christmas. This year it's most likely going to be a new love seat and end table for our living room.

So far I have gotten/ am getting the following for my DH:
The Avenger's Bluray
LOTR Trilogy Bluray
2 sweaters
a hammock (he has always wanted one. I found one for a steal on amazon)
A remote starter for his car (still researching this one so if anyone has any experience with these let me know. I'm mostly concerned about installation)

Still need a few more ideas...

DH's birthday is Christmas Eve. We will be at Disney. That is our gifts to each other. For my bday he gave me a couple of lotto tickets. I will most likely do the same.

You are a good wife, he will love that! And if he doesn't, bury him in the back yard... your choice whether to do him in first or not...

As for my DH...
He wants the Lego Star Wars Imperial something-or-other... about $400, and we have nowhere left to put it... (Our REAL SHTF plan is to use the shrink ray and move into the lego mansions that fill numerous places in our house... NO one will look for us there, and just think how much longer the food would last!) I don't know if I'll get it for him... probably... but I'm hoping for a coupon at least.

He also mentioned wanting the "Smallville" seasons on DVD. I'm hoping I can find a bunch gently-used... they are SO expensive new, for something you can watch for free on hulu/netflix...

not sure beyond that. We are planning a new kitchen right now, which, of course, will be expensive, and paying off bills, and there's nothing we really "need". I hate going out and buying "stuff" just so he has things under the tree...

This could all change as I haven't bought him anything yet but so far I'm thinking:
"The Shooters Bible"

"A Rick Riordan book he hasen' t bought yet. Cant remeber the title but he has been reading them all with our daughter.

A cowboy hat he wants but would never buy himself

A Bass Pro GC

Clothes

I'm getting a picture commissioned. DH is a comic geek....so I'm getting Batman drawn ...with a little costumed Stitch standing behind him, imitating him.:)

well, he is going to Philmont next summer, so probably an REI gift certificate.

I'm still working on it. My husbands birthday is in a week so I can't even begin to think Christmas until I get the gifts for that.

He doesn't consider clothes or shaving stuff gifts. Pretty much all he ever wants now is DVD's and the occasional book.

I'm thinking of the new James Bond BluRay collection. Oh and maybe the new Universal Monsters BluRay collection.

I need to get those ordered. I know he likes those movies so those will work well.

Why do people do this? It is like belittling somebody else's idea gives you a special kick. The rest of your reply was thoughtful then you added this special zinger.

I could say that my dh doesn't consider books or DVDs gifts because we buy those year round as we want them. It doesn't add anything to the conversation though. It isn't helpful. It is demeaning to somebody who wants to give those as gifts.

It's kind of funny but I get him underwear and tshirts every Christmas. He never shops for himself so at least he's getting new stuff at Christmas LOL. We also don't usually buy for each other. This year so far I did get him a grumpy tshirt for our January Disney trip. I might get an ipad gift card and some new cologne. It will be low key since we decided to do Disney.

Since we're hoping to get married next year, I suggested we each only buy each other one gift for Christmas, because I'd much rather sock that money away for the wedding.

I'm thinking from my I'm going to give him a grill and from dd she'll give him the LOTR blueray set (which works as a gift for me too)

I have no idea how I'll get the grill home without him seeing it.

We are going on a cruise in about three weeks so we are "keeping Christmas small" ;)

I already purchased him a set of vinyl figures he wanted. There are 10 of them and they are pretty small so I am going to wrap them all individually and put a ribbon on them to put them on the tree. I am hoping I can make them look like "present" ornaments so he wont know they are actually gifts.

A package of underwear.

"Hook" on blu-ray is on his Amazon wish list.

A gift card to a sports store so he can get new running shoes. (Or if his parents ask I will tell them to get him this)

If I don't get him the gift card I will probably get him a some other book or Blu-ray from his wish list.

He also just had a birthday and I got him a book off his wish list, a Vinylmation he wanted and a pack of razors.

ETA: look in to setting up an Amazon wish list! I always get him other stuff but it is a great way to get him something I know he wants and it is still a surprise because he doesn't know I bought off it. I just started one for myself so when he asks what I want I can point him there.

DH just got a firearm and that is his birthday and Christmas gift. I did get him some Halloween nick knacks (his bday is Wed) that he really liked for the kids to give to him. And for Christmas he said he wanted a jacket so I will likely get that for him as well.

Something from thinkgeek.com. The favorite guys' gifts come from them every year.

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chrono with the orange bezel. Water resistant to 600 meters... because you just never know! ;)

I have no idea. I usually come up with something good every year, but I am at a loss for this one. I'm sure he'll end up with razors, socks, and favorite candy in his stocking. At the rate I'm going that may be it.
