What are you drinking in your cabin?

Hubby and I aren't huge drinkers at home... sometimes a beer or a glass of red wine with dinner or friends. But on vacation, I could see us wanting to have a drink or 2 before dinner, maybe after..etc. I really don't want to lug beer in my carryon, and wine won't sound good to my hubby. So I figured I'd bring on a bottle to mix with ?juice, coke,???

What kind of mixers are available and what do you mix with? Is there ice in the cabin? Is it easy to get coke or juices every afternoon? Tell me how you do it! TIA

Wine. Is mine.

You can have ice in your room.

You can get fountain soda drinks coke etc at the self service soda station. This is available 24/7.

If you get mixers from room service or bars there is a charge.

I usually take a bottle of Grey Goose and tonic water, grab limes from Cabanas and your state room host normally supplies the ice. You can also grab orange juice from Cabanas. Love to have a drink while getting ready for dinner or just out in the verandah while the rest are getting ready.

Enjoy!

So you also bring your own tonic in your carry-on, right?

We are planning on bringing a couple of bottles of wine. Not sure why I did not think about a bottle of hard alcohol. I think this will be a must. I really like beer though but same issue. I don't want to lug it on board.

We took a bottle of Grey Goose, a bottle of Grey Goose Cherry Noir, Veuve champagne, and Fireball! Since we were in concierge we had access to club soda and tonic for the Grey Goose. For the Grey Goose Cherry Noir we used the lemonade at the drink stations with a splash of Sprite. Fireball.... We just shot that or chugged it out of the bottle depending on how far along the day was.

Prior to going on the cruise I saw a thread asking if DCL carried Fireball and the overall consensus was yes they do. However, on the Dream they did not carry it and we ended up making several friends because we had it in our cabin. The bar tender in the sports pub told me he couldn't believe the amount of time each day he gets asked for Fireball.

If you do not finish the bottles that you bring , can you carry half finished bottles off at the end of the cruise?

We bring a bottle of Parrot Bay coconut rum and a bottle of Crown Royal. Husband likes his Crown w/diet coke. He normally wouldn't touch a diet soda for anything but when you mix alcohol with a diet soda there's something about the artificial sweetener that interacts with the alcohol and makes for a very smooth cocktail. On that same concept: I bring Market Pantry (Target) brand strawberry lemonade low calorie drink mix packets. It's like Crystal Light but Market Pantry is the only brand I've found that does strawberry lemonade. Not raspberry. I will mix the drink mix with some water then pour in some coconut rum. It's crazy yummy. Alcohol swells me up enough. Soda would swell me up so bad I'd be in real pain. I'm always carefully choosing where my calories go. I'd rather drink them than eat them. I'll cut every calorie possible even with my cocktails.

You can also mix the coconut rum with the lemonade from the drink station. Or Coke for a Caribbean Cola. Yum!

We have brought a high-end vodka & Kahlua onboard. Mix those with a little whole milk for a White Russian.

We've brought pre-mixed mudslide & orange creamsicle onboard. Just had those over ice. Still yummy.

I got really ambitious last Septmeber when I cruised with my girlfriends! I made two 2-qt carafes of Hippie Juice to have in our cabana on Castaway Cay. I brought disposable rum-runner flasks pre-measured with watermelon vodka, triple sec, and coconut rum. I got the 2-qt pre-measured packets of Crystal Light pink lemonade. I packed all that inside two plastic 2-qt carafes sealed inside the jumbo size, heavy mil ziplocks. When we boarded I scheduled with the concierge to bring me a bowl with 4 cups of sliced strawberries the day before Castaway. When the strawberries arrived I pulled out my carafes, dumped in the liquors & strawberries, then filled to the top with water. I placed the carafes in my refrigerator. The morning of Castaway I wrapped each carafe in a towel and placed it in my beach bag. I put the carafes in our cabana refrigerator and voila! Hippie Juice for the girls to enjoy! It's delicious!

I've never read an official rule on this. What I do is keep the receipts from when I purchased the liquor in the US. The bottles are marked where they were bottled/distributed. I bring the bottles back with me if I decide I have the space and it's enough to save. I keep those receipts handy when coming back through customs just in case they decide to search my bags and ask. I do NOT declare these bottles on my customs form because they were purchased in the US and I have already paid tax on them. I can prove that!

We packed parrot bay and individual cans of pineapple juice (which is not free at the bars on board). The individual cans are easier to store and fit in the fridge better. We also packed individual cans of pineapple orange juice. I packed a little bottle of grenadine to make the kiddo mocktails with sprite. I packed 6 bottles of wine, 2 champagne and a bottle of vodka for our 15 day cruise.

On board, we used the lemonade berry drink and the coke at the drink stations as mixers and ordered extra OJ at breakfast each day to fill a tumbler to make mimosas in the morning.

Edit: I forgot we brought a bottle of Captain Morgan too, and we ended up buying another bottle of Captain and another bottle of Vodka in Cozumel because our supply was already getting low....

We have packed mini cans of ginger ale, cans of pineapple juice or orange juice to mix with Parrot Bay, my husband always has rum for rum & coke. We bought premade mudslides this last cruise. And I always have Baileys to pour over ice or add to a decaf coffee at night.

I forgot we packed mini cans of ginger ale for sea sickness (which they do have on the ship) and also rootbeer for floats...they do not have that on the ship.

Bring a bottle of vanilla flavored vodka and mix it with Coke or Diet Coke. It tastes like cream soda. Quick and easy.
