What Are You Celebrating?? Air Conditioning!! A July 2010 TR UPDATE 12/11 p24

So fun!! No one in my life (my kids excepted) understands my Disney obsession.

My birthday is December 4th and our trip is Jan 1st so I'm planning on going to the Boardwalk bakery and getting myself one of those tiny Mickey cakes.

Wha hoo!!

Awesome cake! And such nice friends!!!
Yeah, they are super nice people!
Cool cake! :mickeyjum
I thought so too!
Both - I have 8-year-old twin boys and we are Minnesota Twins fans. What a great season it has been! Can't wait for the post-season!

Love the Mickey cake - what great friends you have who respect (and encourage) your love of Disney. :cool1:
We are so excited about the Twins too. We just watched them lose tonight though :( We have partial season tickets, so we're hoping to get to go to a post-season game.
Some days I think my friends tolerate my love of Disney more than respect it! HA! But these are my office-mates and I do force them to listen to me talk about DIsney all the time. I have a little Mickey on my desk too! (Happy Meal toy!)
Oh. WOW!!! How much of that did you actually eat?? :confused3 Looks soooo yummy!!! :woohoo:
Well, I personally had two pieces. I shared with my co-workers and brought a few pieces home for DH and the girls. It was a confetti cake mix under all that yummy frosting!
What a wonderful cake!!! I would love a piece of that!!!
Oh, I wish I could have shared with all of you!!! I know you'd appreciate it!

That is the darn cutest cake! I want one!
I believe it was made with a Mickey pan, and they just used pre-made frosting and the biggest challenge was the face color. I think they nailed it!!
Wouldn't that be a fun way to disclose a WDW trip or to celebrate going to WDW?
So fun!! No one in my life (my kids excepted) understands my Disney obsession.

My birthday is December 4th and our trip is Jan 1st so I'm planning on going to the Boardwalk bakery and getting myself one of those tiny Mickey cakes.

Wha hoo!!
Like I said, I think my friends have learned to tolerate my obsession. Some have even utilized my "expertise" for help in planning their trips, so they can't mock me anymore!
Oh - you need to get your own Mickey cake!!!

What an adorable cake!

Love the cake!!!!

Wasn't it cute??? I'm sad to say it is now all gone. I'm so glad I had my iPhone to take a picture of it!!!

A little side note - I just had to share this.
Tomorrow is my mom's birthday, so we all went out to dinner tonight to Outback Steakhouse.
We enjoyed a bloomin onion and the warm bread and honey butter.
I see on the menu a Wild Mushroom Filet w/garlic mashed potatoes and veggies! Could it possibly compare to LeCellier? Should I even try it? Well, as I sucked down a yummy strawberry margarita, I decided I woud!

Want to know how it was? My stomach is so full right now, I could pass for a pregnant woman!!!
The mushrooms were good, the gravy was a bit different, thicker than LC, but that meat - oh that meat!!!! It was rare (I usually don't eat it that rare, and I think I got my mom's plate) and sliced on the plate. I cut a piece, put it in my mouth and hardly needed to chew it - it was THAT tender!! Melt in your mouth. Hardly any fat. The garlic mashed were also yummy. I pretty much ignored the veggies (bad me!)
Then at the end - the server brought us out complimentary tastings of cheesecake!!! Just a couple bites worth - it was perfect!! They didn't even know it was my mom's b-day. Very yummy too!
Now, I can barely move. So while I digest and drink water, I will work on a TR update! Maybe I can finish this first full day!

So, I believe I left you all hanging as we were going to head back to Fantasyland. We walked through Liberty Square.
There were a lot of construction walls up for the FL expansion. You could see HUGE piles of dirt higher than the walls.
They had some neat little signs that told about the future plans.

We decided to go to Philharmagic to cool off in the A/C. There was not much of a wait until they let us into the queue. We just waltzed through there and waited right by the doors. There were two women standing near us and they commented that they had never seen it and wondering aloud if it would be good. I assured them that it was well worth seeing. I didn't see them afterwards, but I enjoyed the show and the A/C!!
After that we headed toward Tomorrowland with a stop at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party!! There was a 10 minute wait. I do not ride the teacups. I practically puke just watching!
So I took a couple pictures and posted on FB. If you are on FB, you may remember my post about the girl who passed by with her mom and said, "mom, let's ride the vomit ride". That's why I don't ride!
DSCN2118.jpg

DSCN2119.jpg

I don't think Paige had figured out where I was yet.

Off we went to Tomorrowland! It didn't seem that busy. This was around 1:30 p.m.
DSCN2120.jpg

No, we don't do Space Mountain. We got FPs for Buzz Lightyear I think that wait time was over 30 minutes.
DSCN2124.jpg

Then we went to ride the TTA.
DSCN2121.jpg

DSCN2122.jpg

DSCN2123.jpg

I know this is a crummy picture, but it sure looks empty in some areas, doesn't it? I think they were all in line for Buzz!

We also went to the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor and Carousel of Progress (It's a great big beautiful tomorrow...) then we used our FPs and rode Buzz. I am so bad at this!!!
Sarah was ready to battle Zurg!
DSCN2126.jpg

We visited the misting station nearby and stopped and got a couple cold drinks. I made my way back to Jungle Cruise to get some FPs for later and DH and the girls wandered through the shops on Main Street. We figured we'd start making our way over to the Poly for our Spirit of Aloha Luau and Dinner Show that began at 5:15. I sort of got trapped by the 3:00 parade, and wove my way through the crowds and the shops. I took some pictures on the way.

DSCN2133.jpg

I thought it was a cute parade (what I saw of it). I liked how they combined some characters on the floats.
We reconnected at a watch shop. The girls bought a couple of necklaces and I had my eye on this bag. But I just couldn't spend the $149. Somehow, we found ourselves in the Confectionary! We decided a bit of fudge was just what we needed! Look at all the cute yummies!
DSCN2137.jpg

DSCN2138.jpg

We chose a couple different kinds of fudge and ate about half of it there in the store (I was sure it would melt!) 2 snack credits.

We had this app on our iPhones that told about some "secrets" of WDW. Lots of trivia. Like looking for the Lady and the Tramp's paw prints in the cement outside of Tony's. We found that
DSCN2139.jpg

Then we checked out an antique phone inside the Chapeau. We didn't hear any conversation, but did have a CM approach us and ask if the girls got their free buttons yet? No. So he gave them each an I'm Celebrating button. Of course, now we had to come up with something to say when everyone asked what we were celebrating. It took us a few tries, but we came up with ...

AIR CONDITIONING!!!!

cont.

:cool1: YAY!!!! GREAT update Sheree!!! :thumbsup2 You guys are giving me great hope that I WILL NOT absolutely melt to death next summer! ;)

I think I drooled a little at the sight of those Minnie and Mickey Apples!!! And those Nemo fish cookies were just soooo adorable! :) I think I would have got a yeast infection on the spot if I had ingested THAT much fudge!! ;) Me and sugar just don't get along these days! :sad2:

I LOVE  Philharmagic too! :thumbsup2 The pic of Sarah ready to take on Buzz is absolutley priceless! I will show this post to Em tomorrow - she is at her BFF's for a sleepover right now! princess:

Can't wait to hear how you enjoyed the Spirit of Aloha! It is on our "maybe" list for next summer! :goodvibes

The next thing we decided was we wanted to ride the train. It would be a way to relax and rest our feet as well as kill some time. We stopped into Tony's and used the restrooms there.
It was 4:00 and I was a bit concerned we would be late to the Poly, but the train ride all the way around the park only takes about 20 - 30 minutes. We rode it all the way - I don't think we'd ever done that before without getting on or off.
DSCN2141.jpg

This was the queue area for Splash Mountain!

DSCN2146.jpg

Even the train had pretty light fixtures!

A cute little house near the Toon Town stop
DSCN2149.jpg

After our little train tour of MK, we left the park and headed to the monorail to head to the Poly. I have to say, I did not think that MK was all that crowded compared to what I had expected. Maybe it was because we did not do lots of the headliner rides and we utilized EMH and FPs well, but I had expected it to be so much worse.
We meandered around the Poly and found our way out back to Luau Cove.
Had to snap a few pictures along the way.
DSCN2150.jpg

Beautiful pool - someday I hope to swim there!

DSCN2152.jpg

DSCN2153.jpg

Yes, we did consider that it looks like they are picking the statue's nose.
Getting closer...
DSCN2154.jpg

We went into the line, got our pink flower leis and had our picture taken. Nothing like a picture of four sweaty people with leis! Some people were obviously fresher than us - I suppose if we stayed at the Poly or had been back to the room to freshen up we would have looked better. Oh well. The picture was fine. Of course we bought them when they came around during dinner!
Then we waited in the heat for a while and they seated everyone. We were in the lower level to the right of the stage. Not bad seats, I believe it was Tier II (you could not get Tier I with the DDP I think). Tier I must be front and center.
We had a really nice server named Wally and the meal included wine and beer, so I ordered a red wine. We were first brought out bread, salad and pineapple. Of course, I didn't remember to take the picture until after I'd started eating!

I had really wanted to get through this day but photobucket is resizing the pictures so slowly, it's taking WAY too long. :confused3 I think I'll have to go through the pictures and resize them all before my next update. I'm frustrated and it's getting late. I've still got luau pictures, plus a few from Summer Nightastic when we went back over to MK.

I did notice that if you see the time stamp on the pictures, they are all in central time, so it's really an hour later.

More food and show pictures to come...

first off,...I looooove Outback...I used to not enjoy it,...guess I wasn't getting the right thing!! I now get the Victoria Filet...sweet baked potato and green beans. Same thing every time!! And I am so full when I leave I don't think I will ever be hungry again!!!
Love the pics you took of the signs with Ms. Potts and Chip, and Ariel....can't wait to see it!!!!!
and no,...I don't ride the teacups either---once and I thought I would die! Mike does it every time.,....he loves it!

The Luau looks lovely so far!! :thumbsup2 I hear you on the picture frustration! It took me a while to figure it out too! :) Did the girls change into dresses? I thought they were wearing shorts in some of the earlier pics? :confused3 Or maybe I JUST noticed that Paigey was wearing a dress! Guess I must be tired - off to bed with me now! I'll catch up some more tomorrow!

I'm really surprised (but so glad for you) with how uncrowded MK seemed!!!

The luau sounds really fun. It's on my "someday" list. :rolleyes1

Those Mickey & Minnie apples are the cutest little treats I've ever seen! I've always wanted to do the Luau, but since we're eating at CRT and are using the regular dining plan, I just couldn't do two of the meals which require 2 TS credits on this trip.

When uploading to photobucket, you can pre-select what size you want your pics to be. I'm so glad I figured that out because resizing each pic one at a time is horrible!

Thanks so much for that helpful hint!!!

Sheree- sounds like a wonderful day at MK. It's so nice that you didn't have huge crowds and lines to deal with and that you were able to do some snackin', strollin' and window shoppin'.

Luau looks like a fun time.

Oh, and cool news about the filet at Outback. We are usually Bugaboo Creek folks, but now we will have to try that.

What fun you all had at the Magic Kingdom!!! Oh, how I love the teacups! Too bad you can't handle riding them! Paige not knowing where you were as you were taking pics was too funny!

Love Sarah's Battling Zurg face!

Those apples are adorable! I wish I could be talented enough to make something like that at home! Fudge sounds pretty tasty right now!

Great picture of the girls with the Tiki statue!

Can't wait to read all about the luau!

Yes the fudge is very sweet! All the treats are so cute, it makes it really hard to decide! Sarah was doing that pose every so often on this trip - Not sure why most of the time. She was showing her tough side I guess!
I will work on resizing my pictures before the next update so it goes a little smoother. I have lots of the luau show.

I almost got the VIctoria too! I hadn't been there in a while, and I didn't remember the last time being as good. I was barely hungry this morning for breakfast!
Should be some neat stuff in Fantasyland! You'll have to tell us what you notice is different in November! Dave has fun spinning with the girls. I am happy to let him!

Paige wore dresses most of our trip. She's been having trouble finding bottoms to fit her comfortably, so sundresses worked well on this trip. Trouble is, we only packed a few. She tried on ALL of her clothes before we left. We packed outfits and some of them she never wore! She's lucky I did laundry at the beach condo.
I'm really surprised (but so glad for you) with how uncrowded MK seemed!!!

The luau sounds really fun. It's on my "someday" list. :rolleyes1
Yeah, I was surprised how uncrowded it felt most of the time. The luau was pretty fun - I won't rush back, but we enjoyed it. Wait till you see the show pictures and more food pictures! I have a really busy week, so we'll see how far I get!

Aren't they cute? SInce we wanted to do a couple 2TS this time, (I think we did three) we decided the DxDP would work best. Probably the last time we do that (since Sarah will be 10 in March - not paying adult prices for her!)

Thanks for the tip! I have uploaded the first few days already, but there are more! I'll remember that - it will save me so much time!

Thanks so much for that helpful hint!!!

That's why I love my DIS friends - always full of helpful hints!
It was great - looking at the pictures last night when I posted them, I got all happy and said to DH - that's what I liked best -just going with the flow and doing what we felt like for the most part. I love not having too many things planned.
We don't have Bugaboo Creek - is it a steak house? I am sure there are other better places, (especially non-chain ones) but it was pretty dang good last night!!! :thumbsup2

Great day at MK! I love that the tea cups are referred to as the vomit ride. :rotfl:
I hope to stay at Poly someday too. :cloud9:
Did they find any treasures in the tiki guys nose? :lmao:

Yup, Bugaboo Creek is a steakhouse chain with a Canadian Lodge Theme- Talking animatronic moose, slapping fish, a spruce tree that tells stories. On birthdays they bring out a giant moose puppet and encourage the birthday celebrant to "Kiss the Moose". I don't think so!!!

The Outback and Bubaboo at the mall are almost in walking distance of one another. With a Longhorn Steakhouse as well.

Go Meat!
