What are you afraid of? Unreasonable fears

Never finding a job.....

But I have such a fear of getting a cleaning at the Dentist. I mean I have tried several times but I vomit when I get right outside. Totally weird and odd. I loved the Dentist as a kid. Had no cavities till I was 25 I think.

Also I hear you on the big 18 wheelers.

I know this is weird, but shrimp with the legs still on. They are creepy!

My DD is too......we have those really big ugly crickets (called cave crickets here)......she hates them.

we have those too! in my mom's house, they would come up the drain in the bathtub to get into the warm house. i was DEFINITELY not amused.

Driving on the PA Turnpike. Everytime I drive on it I swear there is construction and they have Jersey barriers up. Those barriers make me feel claustrophobic and don't even get me near an 18 wheeler, I turn while knuckled and tense up....

My least-favorite drive is I85 from Harrisburg down to Baltimore, yikes those lanes are too small for comfort (with too-close jersey-walls in between North/South lanes to boot, plus there is hardnly any shoulder). ack.

(Not really all out phobias/panic attacks but *still*...) I have some serious anxiety about *anything* having to do with *any* kind of paperwork or forms - like taxes, checking statements, etc.

agnes!

My middle tag says it all...

Lobsters.

I actually spent over a year in therapy trying to get past it (no fun living on Cape Cod with this phobia) but I found it was easier to move. Which I did.

i'm also terrified of horseshoe crabs. not all crabs (i own 3 hermit crabs that i love deeply) just horseshoe crabs.

oh, and jellyfish. i'm afraid of stepping on a jelly fish.

once i was in the ocean, and i stepped on a plastic bag (like a walmart shopping bag) and i freaked out so bad i wouldn't get back in the ocean. i thought it was a jelly fish.

Lightning - really freaks me out

I have the bee and wasp fear too. I only did "Sounds Dangerous" once because the bee noise totally freaked me out.

Somewhat afraid of lightening when it's right overhead,...but I love it when it is off in a distance.

I also can't sit on the inside of a booth. I think that comes from living in Hawaii where crumbs would just get shoved into that little booth crack and I have a memory of seeing a cockroach having a field day in that crack.

Thunderstorms.. I'm downright phobic of them. I had one really bad experience as a kid (watched a tornado go right past us during a soccer game, we all ran for the baseball field next to the soccer field and hid in a dugout) and now I cannot shake the fear. I've tried therapy, hypnosis.. nothing works. I know logically I have nothing to be afraid of, but I freak out every time there's a storm. I also hate clowns and mannequins/ventrolquist dummies. Can't stand them.. ugh.

Peeing. At night. In the dark. Just can't do it. I have to turn the light on and look inside the toilet first.

Storm drains. Especially when my kids were in strollers. Ya know, they were going to fall out, roll into the gutter, fall down the storm drain and be swept into the sea. It would keep me awake at night wondering if I should jump in and try to save them or call for help.

Same with falling off a cruise ship. (could people stop doing this so I'll feel better?!!)

Potpourri... I have no idea why, but the stuff just creeps me out. I don't want it in my house, and when I am at someones house who has it I don't want to be near it.

I just got the shivers thinking about it.

I am TERRIFIED that I will forget to unplug my hairdryer and it will start a fire. I have to recheck to make sure that I unplugged it like ten times in the morning.

I am also deathly afraid of spiders and centipedes (I am shivering just thinking about them).

AND (yes there is another one) open water...the ocean is okay if I can see land. But not so much when I can't swim to shore.

Thought of another one.. I absolutely CANNOT look at a mirror in the dark. It completely freaks me out. Too many games of Bloody Mary when I was a kid. Great, now I have the willies *shudders*
