Hello!
I tried a TR once before and failed miserably, but this time I will succeed. And I will succeed while posting LIVE!
And yes, we are moving cross country - Minneapolis to Seattle, and then 17 days later, driving back to Minneapolis, picking up my nephews and driving to Disney. We are a little crazy like that. After Disney we're driving back to Seattle with the kids.
All the details: Staying at the BWV June 9 - 17th.
Using the DDP.
6 people are going:
One_Cat my brother, and intrepid Disneyer (also the owner of the points we use to play at Disney.) He will try anything once. He did have Gastric Bypass surgery last year, and this will be his first trip to Disney since then. Using the DDP, we are planning on him splitting some plates. It will be interesting to see how that works. Requested not very many buffets, and then promptly requested 2 ressies to be made that were both buffets...
Wendy, my sister in law. Pasta, salads, and sushi. She is a plain eater, but eats a lot and snacks. She is anti DDP, and hates reservations and planning. Does not go well with me, who MUST PLAN.
Rosebud, my mom. She is on a mainly Vegan diet, though she'll eat some fish occasionally. We do this for health, and a lot of times the fish option is easier when eating out than asking for an entirely new creation. She requested Garden Grill.
Flynn Rider - My almost 13 yo nephew. Flynn is a steak and potatoes guy. He LOVES steak, ribs and so on. He's a foodie in the making and requested fancy restaurants.
Aladdin - My other almost 13 yo nephews. Aladdin is a pasta, and plain food eater. In contrast to his brother he doesn't eat much meat. He is actually pickier though, and since he is determined to stick to adult food now, this Disney trip is going to be a challenge for him. He wanted to do character meals. Something about autographs of everyone. You'll see he's been indulged here, how many more times will they want autographs?
Myself: Heather (sorry no Disney name, how can I choose??) I am also a 90% vegetarian, mostly for health reasons. I do eat a small amount of fish here adn there, typically when we eat out. I try hard to avoid animal fats. On this trip I may slip up here and there. I'll try my best though while still having fun and enjoying the food. I am a huge foodie, love love love Disney, restaurants, and of course combining the two. I just came off of 5 years of working in restaurants as a manager, so I have a little different perspective than many. I want to eat at new, exciting places, and favor signature restaurants.
And finally our lineup so far. I have made wacko ressies this time. I am trying to get everyone's requests in and finally with my brother and sis in law not deciding, I just made them for the other 4. So they may be eating separately. Add to that all of our different ideas for dining.
9th (arrival) Open. We're thinking either Raglan Road or Fultons for lunch. Since we have to meet people after arriving to pick up tickets for the kids, we won't be in the parks till later. We also haven't booked dinner, I feel like we'll end up in Epcot, but I am not sure.
10th - Akershus for lunch. This should be AWESOME with 2 boys. Ok I wish I had a girl going too, but seriously, I can't wait to see their faces.
11th - LATE dinner scheduled for Tony's Town Square. We ate there once and really liked it. That day is a Harry Potter day, so I feel like a late dinner on main street will be really cool. There's a chance it'll get cancelled, but I booked it anyway.
12th - Les Chefs De France for lunch to see Remy. This was a kid request, one saw him last time, and the other has never let us forget the fact he didn't get to go (Flynn). So we're remedying this with this trip.
13th - Yak and Yeti for a late lunch. This is my choice. I think it looks really fun. I'm also trying for a full AK day, and it's going to be hot. I'm hoping if it's broiling Rosebud can remain in the bar for awhile with a diet coke while we finish off the park.
14th - It's time for the Hoop Dee Doo! Another kid request. This will be our 3rd time there, it's quickly turning into the must do. This time I made ressies on the balcony. It's always fun.
15th - Crystal Palace breakfast early (pre park opening, kid and One_cat request), and then that evening we're off to Artist Point for dinner. This is going to be our long Magic Kingdom day, so AP will be our cooling off time.
16th - Early dinner scheduled for Garden Grill. I wanted California Grill, but I got severely voted down by the need of autographs. We ate here the last trip, and had fun though. I just like to do new things.
So there you have it, in 5 weeks or so, we'll be finished with our move, and celebrating with the mouse, good food, and new memories.
