We have a compact car booked, we usually do a full size. Just my husband and I flying into Ft Lauderdale for unrelated disney trip. I wanted to see what are usually the choices in compact?

Thanks guys!

Be aware that Alamo does not use the EPA vehicle classes, they use their own, which in simple terms they do by bumping up from the EPA definition, which means that the cars they define as compact are what the EPA defines as subcompacts: you'll find cars like Chevy Sonic, Kia Rio, Toyota Yaris or Nissan Versa in that class.

We got a Chevy HHR in August 2012 when we reserved a compact with Alamo. But every other vehicle in the row was a Yaris.......so I think we just got very, very lucky with the HHR.

HHR has to be the worst rental car I ever got. Got it twice as an intermediate with Avis on business trips. Couldn't switch.

It worked well for our family of 3. Certainly seemed to offer more space than the Yaris  but what do I know? :rotfl:

Eww, really do not want a Yaris or an HHR. Is compact the smallest or is it economy? What would we expect to pick from with standard or fullsize?

There were lots and lots and lots of Impalas when we booked a full size for our August 2012 vacation. Great trunk room.

Economy is smaller; those will almost universally be tiny hatchbacks where the only reaistic place to put your luggage is the back seat.

I rented an Alamo compact in March. I chose a Mazda 3 (which I liked a lot). If I recall there were also several Toyota Yaris', Ford Fiestas and there may have been some Kia Rios...probably others too.
