I've seen them on packing lists but I don't know why, can someone shed some light on this for me please? I don't want to be caught without them!!

THERE GREAT FOR WET CLOTHES LIKE BATHING SUITS. SOME PEOPLE PACK THERE OUT FITS IN THEM. SO ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GRAB AND GRT DRESSED GRET FOR KIDS. ALL KINDS OF USES REALLY.

Good for taking room service cookies with on shore excursions!

We found that ziploc bags filled with ice kept items in the cooler actually cold! On past trips we found the cooler to be pretty useless (it isn't a small fridge as it appears to be, it just "maintains" the temp. of what you put in it) but thanks to the tip about bags I picked up on this board we were able to save money keeping beer and juice boxes in the cooler.

VIXENSLC ... ? Not sure but did you say that you put ice in baggies in the frig, it keeps things actually colder. I know the frig's stink ... oops, I mean don't get things very cold.

noahsmom-Thanks for asking. I've been wondering about this too!

Hi!

I use my ziploc bags to keep things dry (books, camera, daily itinerary, visors, etc...) in my beach bag. We always throw the wet towels or t-shirts in our bag to go back to the boat and this way they won't get the other items wet. Plus if you go on an excursion and you're on a boat with water splashing over the sides (trust me ... this can happen to you!), the items you want to keep dry will stay dry in your ziplocs. Also protects your cameras from the sand if you don't want to bring a bulky camera bag to the beach.

As mentioned before, they are also great for the trip home if your bathing suits didn't have enough time to dry out.

I like the "ice bag" idea myself! Thanks for that great tip!

According to my room steward on the previous trip, the "refrigerator" in cabins is just a cooler. It doesn't chill down food/drinks you placed in there. It just maintains them at slightly below room temperature. He had no idea why they were designed that way nor what purpose they were meant to serve.

However, we have learned from here that it can almost be a real refrigerator by placing ziploc bags of ice in it. The concept is similar to the ice cooler one takes to picnics...

We take various size baggies with us. The small ones are good for packing up the leftover cookies and chips from room service so we can take the on an excursion. Also we ordered sandwiches the night before St Thomas (we were doing Magans Bay on our own), put them in the baggies, kept them in the cooler over night and they were good for lunch the next day.

Also good for keeping 'like' items together when packing, all medicines together. I also always pack shampoo, conditioner, anything spillable in them before putting in the suitcase. It only takes one trip with shampoo all over your clothes when you unpack to figure out why.

I usually use a zip lock bag for my bar of soap that I take on vacation. I cannot use the soap at the Disney Resorts and on the cruise, so I bring my own. Great way to get the soap from the resorts to the cruise if you happen to do Walt Disney World before.

I can see how packing your kids outfits (socks, undies, shirt and shorts) in a zip lock bag for each day. It seems that it would make dressing easier for the kids each morning. I think that my kids are a little old to do this.

Thanks for the tip about the ice in the cooler on the cruise. Definitely will come in handy in August.

I put wet clothes in some. In others I collect sand or shells if the beach I am going to allows this. I also use them to pack sandwiches and chips that I ordered from Room Service to carry off ship. I also use them to put my cameras in when I am on shore, especially if they are not water resistant and you are anywhere near the water.

I also make up post card labels that I print on laser labels, so that when I am ready to do my postcards, all i have to do is slap the label on the postcard, and write a couple of lines.

gee, i know i have used them for lots of other things. I pack liquid items in these too, in case they should leak during travel.

I am a huge fan of putting my kids outfits in the ziplock bags. I do this everytime we go to WDW. In the morning, I toss the kids their bags, then I have my shower and by the time I am out the kids are dressed and almost ready to go. Plus for my DD I put in all of her hair bows/etc. THis way I have everything I need to get her ready to go.

BTW my kids are 8 and 6
