I got the idea for this topic from this thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1387112 So when you have been on the WDW Monorail what are the weirdest things you have seen? This is my story. Going from the Polynesian to the Grand Floridian about 4 or 5 women come in the car that my family and I are in and start to sing. Well in my opinion they had to be drunk because each of them were holding some soart of alcoholic drink. Plus I have taken bar tending courses at college so I can tell some of the sings of being drunk.

So does anyone have any crazy stories from the Monorail that they would like to share?

As a former monorail pilot, I have TONS. But 99.9% of them I cannot share.

However... my last day as a Monorail Pilot, I was able to get a good friend to come ride with me. Here's a picture:

Not the WDW monorail, but the one at MCO: false teeth.

Someone had left a full set of upper/lowers on the bench at the end of the car. DS always likes to sit up there and watch the tracks as we go along, so he bolts straight for it every time, and this time (when DS was about 3) we encountered the dentures. We immediately pointed them out to a security guard so that they could be retrieved and taken to L&F.

I felt really bad for whoever had left them; those things are horribly expensive and I've been told it can be painful to break in a new set.

A single sneaker. I wondered about the poor person walking (or hopping) around MK with only 1 sneaker. Why would someone leave 1 shoe on the monorail? Sort of like when you see a single shoe lying on the road...

I can tell you how that happens on the side of the road. In college I was driving home with a friend and his idiot friend from home. Well the idiot friend has his foot out the window with shoe on- I say cut it out. He say why I need some air. I argue back that I'll kick him out of the car. He tries to play it off- Well bump in the road- Goodbye shoe!= He wanted me to stop and go back for it. *this is on 95 in CT. Yeah not happening. So that is one shoe on the side of the road.
My unusual monorail story. We met a family that was just riding the monorail. For their entire vacation, they told their little sons that the monorail was the big ride. And they would just ride around and then go swimming in the pool! They said they didn't know how much longer they could pull it off- My kids had a look like this:scared1: on their faces as they shared their story.

I once saw an airplane driving the monorail. No kidding, here's a picture I took.

That sounds like a joke to me. My husband would absolutely tell something like that to strangers.

No joke. The same thing happened to my idiot friend back in high school. In CT, ironically.

No joke! They were even doing it "one more time" before bed with the older one while mom went back to the hotel with the little guy. They just rode the loop- we bumped into them again on the monorail a few days later!!! and my kids were :rotfl2:

Since 2000, I've been (literally) all over Disney. So it's very well possible that you've seen me. :)

On one trip in '05 we were in Epcot and DH and younger DD wanted to go back "home" to GF I needed to stay in Epcot and do a "Flat Stanley" for a friend so me and older DD went to WS to do that. DH and DD get on the packed monorail and while standing he hears someone saying "Steve?" Here it was our next door neighbor and his family (who we didn't know were going). They were going to eat dinner at Park Fare. What are the odds in that happening?!!

I think the weirdest thing was the middle aged heavyset woman who decided she needed to change her shirt on the way from Epcot to the TTA-i right in form tof my DH, DD, DN and myself....DH was so emabarrassed and I am trying to keep my DD from staring at her, but of course my DN had to open her 15 yo mouth, she goes ewwwwwwww, oh that is so NOT RIGHT, I was more emabrrased then the women was evidently!

Hearing Jack Wagner's famous quote, "Please stand clear of the doors; Por favor manténganse alejado de las puertas," five times. The doors kept opening and closing. Someone on the monorail stood close to the doors.

I am frantically thumbing through my daughter's San Francisco State course catalog to make sure there are no classes in Alcohol Mixology....

;)

We got the pleasure of seeing a young "lady" putting on a show in her short skirt. At first I thought it was an accident, but then I could tell by hers and her companion's responses that it was on purpose. :sad2:

I'm not a prude, but come on! Why WDW? :confused3

Not that it's specific to the monorail, but we started talking to a family on the monorail that were at WDW for 10 WEEKS! They jusy kept moving around from hotel to hotel. They were at the end and said they were getting a little worn out. Um, just a little?

We had almost the exact same thing happen at sea world. We were pulling into the parking lot and person getting out of the car directly 1 row in front of us was our next door neighbor who we also didn't know was going!

Today's wierd monorail story. DD, DS and I were riding the loop one last time before heading out today. We got on at CR, got to TTC, unloaded and loaded guest, the speech plays("please stand clear..), the doors close.....then everything shuts down. No lights, no speakers no AC, nothing. I looked at my watch to see how long this would take(thinking maybe 5 or 10 min) it took less than 3 min to power back up and get on our way:thumbsup2 .

Sounds like they had to reboot the computer system...
