Are there any rules for bringing a pet if your in a tent?......I guess im just not sure on the pet rules any info?......

1) For a tent, need to keep animals at the pet care center.
. . . they need a 6' or shorter leash
. . . they must be lept in a carrier-cage-kennel
2) They cannot be kept inside a tent, only an RV or Camper with air conditioning, if you are away in the parks
. . . they could escape and run loose
. . . they could die from the internal tent heat
. . . they could bark annoyingly

NOTE: Tent/pop-up sites are located in loops 1500 and 2000. Pets are not allowed. You need another loop

My pet is a pig....she is a mini micro pot belly pig....I don't think she would like the kennel at all......the reason I ask is because the guy at Disney was like bring her we have people who bring there pet pigs all the time just keep her crated in the tent when your gone.....but I wasn't so sure....oh and our tent has ac/heater we will be coming in January. She is soooo tiny and she is gonna be super upset if we leave her at home she is a house pig and sleeps in the bed with the kids every night.

 Never heard of a pig sleeping in bed with the kids before! Why would it have any harder time being left at home than someone's puppy/cat/dog, etc?
Sometimes they actually do better, and are happier in their own surroundings than by themselves all day in unfamiliar places.

Good luck to you! pixiedust:

This!!! You asked the question, OP. You got a very straightforward answer. I think you were a bit rude when all TheRustyScupper did was answer you. You said you spoke with a CM, so why the need to come here asking about the rules? Maybe looking for an answer you liked better???

That was the question.........

NOT AN ANSWER BUT THANKS TO EVERYONE!

If you google "fort wilderness tent camping with pets" you'll get great answers to your question. In the two minutes it took me to look up, it seems that there are specific sites for pets and a care center to keep them if you are in a tent. I hope that some Disney magic finds you and makes your stay pleasant for your family and anyone else you may encounter.

It seems as if you got an answer from a CM. You then came here and asked a question, and got answered by Rusty, who is not only knowledgeable beyond belief, but answers these same questions daily, because he himself works at The Fort. So his comment about a pig being a pet, and that there are rules for pets and that you are going to have to follow the rules and that the cast members are there to enforce rules. He was not being rude, just giving you the matter of fact answer.

disneyprincesspluto,

You asked the question, you got the correct answer from Rusty Scupper.

You don't have to like the answer. But that IS the answer.

You also didn't clarify who "the guy at Disney" was in post #3 but it doesn't matter since you already have the correct answer.

So now you have time to schedule boarding for your pet, either at the Pet Center on WDW property or at home. If you haven't trained the pet for this, it's probably time to do so.

PS - You owe Rusty Scupper an apology as well IMHO.

With all do respect....................would the pig be upset, staying home or is it YOU would be upset leaving the pig at home.

Frankly traveling with exotic pets, especially in a tent is not a good idea, to many things could happen!

I would suggest a friend or family member at home pet sit. Its safer and healthier for the animal and the animal would be in surroundings they know, and not sitting in a strange tent wondering if the family is ever coming back.

Hes my beef with the answer guys.... I get so sick of seeing people giveing snippy answers. if I was standing next to someone having a conversation would you answer someone like that....no I hope you wouldn't....and I get sick of seeing it done on here all the time...so no I don't feel like I owe anyone anything.. when people give an answer to someone stop and think would I answer them like that to there face? I took a lot of offense to that snippy little answer I was asking for the information and help not a snippy little answer as if I was an idot of some sort for even responding to his answer!..Its not that the answer wasn't the answer I was looking for its that I had 0 knowledge on anything pets and the fort and im sorry a 1 2 3 snippy answer was not was I was looking for.As for the question I asked and need information on.......
I made a phone call to a girl I went to high school with that works at the wilderness lodge and she informed me that unfortunately people give customers bad advice over the phone all the time.....so if I would have shown up with pig they would have had to help me get a pet loop(which I didn't know they had) and then used a kennel and if that didn't work I would have had to rent an rv from a local company.(she said you wouldn't believe how many times this happens) But she is passing the word along with a copy of this post to show that there needs to be a discussion of employees giving wrong information. And even she had not known of the no pop up or (soft side ) rule.....but then again like me she has never taken a pet camping at the fort. but she did find out that if you come during a busy time that sometimes they will (open) up more pet loops.

With all do respect.......I really don't understand about 50% of your answer, and that is assuming your friend is giving you the correct information over the phone. Please note Wilderness Lodge is not Fort wilderness and I would trust Rusty. From what I know Rusty gave you very correct information.

Lastly I would have told you my opinion that I stated in the post whether I was face to face or not.!

If you had taken the time to read through this board, and many others on here, you would see that Rusty Scupper is one of the most prolific "answer" posters on here, and his answers are spot on. He is also known for his lists, rather than sweet little paragraphs. He summarizes his answers concisely, and an easy-to-read format that we can all understand. I once answered a question with a list and apologized to Rusty Scupper for stealing his format LOL.

If you had taken the time to get to know us here, you would have known that RS would have been first to answer and with the official info. The fact that you came barrelling in here, with no punctuation and using lots of run on sentences with bad spelling indicates that you googled, posted and then got annoyed immediately.

There was not a single thing that RS posted that was snippy or annoying. It was ALL FACTS. Maybe it's the type of thing you learn as you age, but I appreciate his answer and his methods. Makes it easy.
