What are the "real" benefits of joining?

We have been members for almost 9 years, and feel that DVC at WDW is our second home.

We have started to invite out of state relatives to stay with us at DVC. It was a three generation trip which had something for everyone to enjoy. It was a perfect way for Grandma to get to see her out of state grandkids, while everyone had lots of fun.

It is a great way to keep a family that is spread out across the country in touch with each other.

We were on a 7 day west coast cruise last year (that we paid full price for. About 15k out the door.) and went to the DVC presentation on the ship. After the presentation we were talking about pros and cons and asking everyone we saw with a DVC lanyard if they had any regrets. The only regrets we heard were, "did not buy enough points up front," or, "didn't buy in soon enough." But what really pushed us over the edge was when we realized that the cruise we were on was the first real family vacation we had been on in 7 years. Now, for less than the cost of 2.5 cruises, we have guaranteed vacations for the next 50 years and couldn't be happier about it. Our first points use will be the DVC members cruise in September and we have a 3 BR grand villa the week prior to Christmas and are taking the entire family with us. Being able to share our good fortune with family and friends is a huge plus for us.
