If you'll get it you'll love it. McDill is the Taj...... A great assignment!

Interesting thread. We considered moving to Florida before deciding on Hawaii.

We had a couple of big issues. (This was in 1999.)

Our biggest issue with Florida was water. In 1998-99, there was talk about problems with the aquifer, lack of fresh water, and the possibility of having to repipe in order to provide non-potable water for irrigation.

Another issue was that at the time, 80 people per day were moving to central Florida. I don't know what the current numbers are, but that's an issue.

You need to do research before you move. Several people provided good resouces. Take a look at the census numbers, as well. It'll give you an idea of what's happening in various areas of the country.

Hello Telly

Glad to run into you again. There is a lot of good information here. Speaking as a grandma I would be heartbroken if my grands moved far away. I have my oldest grandson here right now. However you have to do what is best for you and your children. I am sure you will make the right decision. Do you own or rent now? If you rent it would be a lot easier to go down and rent for awhile to decide for yourself. The younger the children are the easier it will be for them to acclimate. You only have one life and you need to make the most of it.

We have visited several retirement communities trying them on for size. Not sure if they have such for you younger folks.

You have good looking kids and I have to say that you look like you could be a model. With your personality and looks you will fit in any old where you want to fit in IMHO.

Selfishly, I was hoping you had already moved as I am headed that way in a few weeks and you did promise a guest room to me, and only me. LOL

LOL! I'm sure you'll be fine! At the time I loved my job and had a great boss. That's rare! I'm moving in FIVE DAYS? :earseek: and I'm not coming back this time. ;)

...And where did I find this thread...in page 3 or 4?! I'm glad I checked the old posts!

Well...Linda...I'll make sure you'll be the first one to know (that I made it there) once I'm settled there! :) I'll make sure your bedroom is set up to your liking...and serve you breakfast in bed too! ;)

ORD2KOA...AHHHH....HAWAII!! :sunny: I wouldn't mind living in Maui, but the cost of living there is just ridiculous!! One gallon of milk is $4.99!! YIKES!! Hawaii is a little bit too far from my folks! At least in Florida, I know I can drive to Michigan. I have driven to Florida twice and it wasn't too bad.

Pin Wizard...How was your move? I hope everyting is fine with you and your new place. Good luck to your new journey!
