what are the most crucial items to pack for an august trip

;) don't forget your cell phone charger!!!
Personally, I have to do laundry, even on vacation. So I bring liquid detergent in a sealed container and softener sheets. I also bring plastic hangers from home, ther's never enough in the room. That way you can hang washed clothing if you don't want to dry.

Ha! Carrie I brought all that stuff along too! :) DD14 only wears abercrombie and there is little room for shrinking! lol.. I bring the hangers along and a little ziploc bag of dryer sheets for the socks and non shrinking items. I did carry on luggage so I brought along a little dollar store size of powdered laundry detergent instead of the liquid.

Lots of underwear, in fact take an extra pair with you in your backpack ....

Body glide or talcum for prickly heat and chafing

I have found I am more comfortable in a skirt than shorts, let the air circulate, so a gauzy skirt, just below the knees and some gauzy topps to screen the sun but not block the breezes.

I also like the cool max sports bras as they WILL wick the moisture away from your skin - Sam's or Walmart

Just remember if you use an antiperspirant, your body will sweat in all the other places, chest, back, crotch and feet.

Dress in light colored, lightly woven fabrics.

Don't forget a hat !!!!!!

Most of all, don't forget your sense of humour and patience! I see so many unhappy faces in the crowd, it's a vacation, you are supposed to have fun! We go Jun and Aug every year, come rain or come shine (and there will be both) Have a Blast!!!!

I was going to mention the moisture wicking bras. I also like moisture wicking panties.

In the travel item section of WalMart you can get Tide sink paks. It is a small amount of laundry soap--may be a different concentration, don't know--that works nicely to rinse a few items in the hotel sink and hang to dry. In addition to the plastic hangers, I also bring clothes pins that can hook onto the hangers.

A small Washcloth you can carry around the park and get wet as needed

We've missed moving this thread to the Disney "tips" forum where it's a better fi than here on the ThemeParks board.

Thanks,

Knox

I also take peppermint foot lotion/scrub its great to pamper your tired feet after a long day, and peppermint is so cooling!;)

I second the Peppermint!! I bought Peppermint Leg Gel from the Body Shop. The first few days of my trip I didn't use it. I paid the price the next day. I finally started using it on my feet, legs and knees when I returned to the room. Very refreshing!!!! It made a BIG difference the next day!

I take medication with me I MIGHT need just in case. Coming from UK I went to a chemist (pharmacy) expecting to be able to buy what I needed to sort myself out. The guy just looked at me and said "ma'am you would need a prescription for that." This is something I can buy from a supermarket at home so this time I am prepared!

Also anything like aspirin you might want to use as you can buy it in the resorts but the price was :scared1:

I always have a very small sewing kit (won in a Christmas cracker of all things) in case a button falls off something.

I also take shampoo and conditioner as staying in DVC the little bottles don't last long with long thick hair.

I have learned (finally) NOT to take towels as the hotels have them for the room and the pools so it is a waste of case space.

Wow! Thanks for some of the suggestions!

I am going to look for the wicking bras tomorrow! One thing I HATE is wearing a bra in the heat!

I am also going to order the iPOD fan!

Make sure you're always carrying a poncho in the parks with the Florida rains and everything. I would also make sure to bring sunscreen in the park cause you will need it.

I JUST ordered 3 fans from e-bay! and guess what? They are lime green! Thanks again guys!

AND, I went to Kohls yesterday to check out the wicking bras- let me tell ya, the few Champion sports bras they had there were like a suit of armor shield:lmao: I would probably sweat just sitting still in the darn thing:rotfl2:

I tried on another one by Vanity Fair or Bali- I forget- but it did not fit right. I have to try Boscovs and go from there.

I am on a mission for a very light wicking bra- any girlies out there have any suggestions?? (maybe I should pose this question on the CB)

If I can't find one- I will just go with a real light bra with no wire.....and no support.....and why even wear a darn bra! :lmao:

They are torture I tell you! TORTURE!:scared:

Body Glide if anybody in your group is prone to chaffing.

I also take peppermint foot lotion/scrub its great to pamper your tired feet after a long day, and peppermint is so cooling!;)

I found a peppermint lotion at Target by Watkins

Avon has a product like Body Glide that I purchased for DD

I also brought packets by Crystal Light to put in the bottled water. They have one for hydration.

Lots of water, sunscreen and sweat rags! Plan a nap in the pm, the heat will wipe you right out!:scared:

Hope this helps! :cutie:
