What are the major differences between Vistana Resorts and Vistana Villages??

I have been trying for quite some time to make up my mind between the two, but can't seem to do it.

What are the major differences between the two?

I've never stayed at the villages but stayed at the resort a few years ago. It is my understanding that the resort is much bigger, has a number of restuarants and multiple pools whereas the Villages is newer and much smaller without any restaurant and I think only one pool

We stayed at VV in February and at VR in early December. The major differences are size and age. At VR you may or may not get in a new section. The VV is a much more compact resort. There are 2 pools at VV. VR has seven or so spread over a much larger area. VV is about 3 to 5 minutes farther from Disney than VR. We liked VV better than VR. I would rate our stay at VV a 9.5 and at VR around an 8 or so. We stayed on the 4th floor in building 6 at VV and in the Cascades section unit 2624 at VR. I would pick VV over VR if we have the opportunity to stay off-site again. I will try and answer any specific questions that you might have. One key point, I would not stay at either resort without a vehicle. We got great rates through Hotelkingdom for both of our stays. Hope this helps.

Well, opposite of baileybrad, I would pick V R over V V for our next trip. We liked that there was more to do--different pools and such at VR as well as the restaurants available. It's a small thing , but also liked the store at the resort much better than the villages. We liked the location of the resort better as well--easier access to the parks, restaurants etc.

I have to admit that my view of the villages is colored by the fact that the entire floor we were on other than our condo was under renovation the whole week we were there. Have to post that review one of these days.
