What are the least desirable things about your home's surroundings?

There was a High School two blocks north of my house, along what at the time was the only way in and out. It could be a mess getting in and out right before school started and right after it closed for the day.
About a year after we moved in they close the High School and sold the campus to the park district.
About two years after we moved in they extended my street in a way that opened up another way in and out to the south. Since then, the High School has been leased to a Montessori school. The line of parents dropping off and picking up kids, many of them ignoring traffic laws, is nuts. But we know to exit and enter from the south around that time of day.

It's very far away from police, fire, and emergency medical coverage.

We have the community emergency siren right next door. It’s so loud!

Most people would say my next door neighbor. He’s the one when people familiar with the area find out where you live ask “so what’s up with your neighbor?” He’s not great about keeping up with his property—everything from leaving Christmas lights up (and on until they burn out) for literally years on end, rarely cuts his grass, let’s his driveway deteriorate and so on. He used to fix vehicles in his driveway at all hours of the day and night, but that’s been a while. He had a long haul truck driving gig for a while and would park the cab in the driveway when he was home for a few days. I actually like him. I think he has some mental health issues, but has always been decent to us. If he sees me lifting anything heavy he always offers to help, always has a tool that will work better than what you have that he offers up if he sees you working on something. I think if my house were for sale it would annoy me, but for now he is okay by me.

No sidewalks. People like to walk in our neighborhood at all hours without wearing reflective clothing even though the HOA keeps reminding them. The roads are windy and I'm always afraid I'll run over someone.

My neighbors are all extremely nosy and uppity, complain about every little thing. They all know what’s going on with everyone else and they gossip. A neighbor called the county on another elderly neighbor because they didn’t shovel snow off sidewalk in front of their house once. The sidewalk is considered county property anyway. Extremely annoying.

There’s a high school at the corner and that can come with some pretty awful behaviour.
