What are the chances we'll see a 50 pt. add-on w/incentives offer?

Mods. feel free to move this post as I wasn't sure where it should go.

Just back from F&W & we stopped at one of the DVC boothes & asked how AKV was selling. Only 25% sold according to the rep & when I asked about BLT he said they have not received any info on when or if they are to start selling it. Not a huge surprise there, but it got me wondering. If sales are slow how badly will Disney want to get rid of those pts.? The recent 100 pt. offer was tempting but I didn't really want to put out that kind of cash right now. A 50 pt. offer with similar incentives though might be a different story. As a new owner I have no history as to what DVC has done in the past to sell those pts. that aren't moving. Any thoughts?

DVC has already begun selling points in BLT and the sales were opened to the public (non-members) on Oct. 5th. As far as I know, there will be no incentives for point values under 100. We purchased 105 in BLT and got the $107/pt instead of the $112/pt price incentive. The cheapest pt/night at BLT is 27, so if you only purchase 50, then you would only be able to book 1 night at the 11 month booking window! Not really worth it.... unless you don't mind waitlisting at 7 months and hoping you can add more nights- not likely at BLT, IMO!

Not sure about incentives on other properties or if they offer more later when sales slack off...

Sorry I couldn't be more help!

You can get a Standard View Studio at BLT for 12 pts/night Sun - Thur during Adventure & Choice seasons. So, 50 points can get you 4 nights.

I think 50 point add on incentives are not likely and a 50 point initial contract is NOT going to happen, so no need for incentives on that.

Sorry, my bad! We have 3 children so a studio is NOT an option for us! I don't even look at the points for those- oops!

I do not remember any incentives for less than 100 points. I do not follow it closely, but I don't remember any.

Thought I would add this in here just in case you did not know.
As an owner you CAN buy as little as a 25pt contract as an add-on without financing, 50pts with financing.
Incentives are rare, if not non-existent, for such low point purchases.

For what it's worth, I know of a couple people who have received the $8 per point discount on a 50-pt add-on at AKV recently. At the same time other people have said they did not get the discount on 50 points. Seems to be some inconsistencies at DVC.

If a Guide initially says "no" to incentives on 50+, you may want to ask that he/she make further inquiries internally.

Thanks for the replies. I did know I could add-on as low as 25 pts. at anytime, but I was just wondering if it's worth waiting & watching to see what deals may come on the horizon. If things are as bad with the economy as they're predicting I wondered what DVC might do. No sense speculating I suppose. I'm not in a rush to add-on at this point, but I do see myself wanting a few more pts. at either AKV or possibly VWL in the future. BLT is just not for me.

Well, for sure there will never be incentives for sold out properties. I still stand behind my original comment. Not likely to happen.

I also want to do a small add-on, but at VWL. Honestly, I wish I had known about VWL when we purchased. In SSRs defense, I haven't even stayed there yet.
I just loved VWL SOOOOOOOO much when we were there in September.
I figure if I get a 50 point add-on, between banking and borrowing, I have enough for a studio at 11 months. Then I can come in at 7 months and try for something bigger.
Or am I crazy?
(Actually, I am crazy, so that is a rhetorical question!:rotfl2: )

We did a 50 pt. add-on at SSR not long before they sold out. We got the $8/point discount (I think) and a $500 visa card (I know).

If I had known we were going to keep adding on, I might have done them both at AKV, but I decided with our first 50 pt. add-on that it wouldn't be worth it to have 50 pts. at AKV. By now, I could have 100 AKV points, and working on the next 50.

I was recently offered an incentive to purchase at Vero Beach and it is "sold out." Apparently they have gotten some back.

(you mean except for the beach properties, which do offer an incentive for 50 pt contracts? ;) )

Both VB and HH offer discounts for 50 or more points. Pricing is $87 per point for those purchases and $92 for under 50 points.

One thing I have learned in life is to never say never, if things get soft enough and both DVC sales and CRO slow down a lot I can see DVC being much more flexible in there terms. If it gets really bad (where a lot of rooms, both DVC and CRO are going empty and DVC is still sitting on $1 billion in points), I can even see DVC doing add ons (including 50’s) at 0 down 0% interest for a limited period of time for current DVC members when attached to and existing membership, since for practical purposes DVC would have the existing contract as security. This way they could book the profit (which is 60+% of gross sales) with only a small charge for the financing loss.

We went to look at the AKV models and was told they don't offer incentives for 50 point add-ons, but someone posted they got one for SSR. Like someone else posted - they'll offer incentives if they need to move things.

I also considered a 50 point add on at BLT, figuring we can use it every 2-3 years, but decided against it for now.
