What are the chances? UPDATE page 2

We have an amazing Aunt who just called us up to ask about our already planned WDW vacation- staying Feb 2-11 at Pop (we know that we would have to cancel- costing us $200 but we are more than willing to suck that up)

She has 500 points at her disposal (expiring quite soon-something about being able to bank 200) and would like to share them with us. She said she thinks a 2 bedroom would be best for us since we have 2 kids (5 and 2)

She is calling tomorrow to check on availability- and if there is any she will let us use the points

We are complete DVC newbies- And trying our hardest to not get our hopes up

Obviously she cant call till tomorrow morning to inquire about availability but

Do you think we have any chance of having a 2 bedroom villa from the 2-11th of February available? We would love to stay at AKL or Bay Lake- but geez we would be happy with anything!!!

1 bedroom?

Studio?

Anything?

I have booked a vacation over President's Day weekend with less than 3 months out. We were not able to get one room the whole time but we were able to go as long as we were willing to hop resorts mid stay. We still had a great time.

I would think going before President's Day weekend you should find a room.

I absolutely promise to let you know

DH and I are are slightly freaking out. We are 10 days out and had everything set. Choosing Pop allowed us to take our kids on a 10 day trip- something we never imagined possible (esp. since we stayed for 5 nights at POR in May). And then Aunt calls..... OF COURSE we start looking at DVC, and how absolutely amazing the villas are. Drooling really. And then we realize how slim our chances are of actually making a DVC stay a possiblity with little to no notice.....UGH- Long night indeed. I will then spend tomorrow looking at the phone willing it to ring...

You might discuss now whether you are willing to change resorts during your stay because that will give you a much better chance. Here is some pixie dust that you can make this work.

I would TOTALLY be willing to change resorts mid stay, after one day, any time lol

DH is completely on board too thank goodness

I think you have a chance of gettting something, especially that you are willing to change resorts.

We have done split stays several times so far and honestly, it is not that bad. We are doing it this summer and will just make the move day a DTD day.

Did you have Free Dining or any other free offers with your stay at POP?
You will lose them... just so you are aware.

We decided last week to check for availability for 2/23-3/3. One call and I was able to book a 1 bdrm for 8 nights at the same resort. I was very surprised as was DH....because the room was the only thing we were worried about. Good luck!

I think you will be fine. I know for a fact last week when I called that they still had 2bdrm at baylake available Feb 4-8 because those are the dates we were looking for but not wanting two bedrooms and they said that is all they had.

If you knock your pop ressie down to 1 night, you only lose 100$ which is about the cost of 1 night.. just a thought.

Yes- we are booked with free dining- we got an amazing deal really- for 2 adults, 5 yr old and 2 yr old, 9 nights ten days at Pop, ten day park tickets, upgraded to Regular Dining Plan and we paid around $1870

So- we figure that even if we lose $200, our park tickets will be around $812, and if we still wanted to do the dining plan it would be around $880 for a total of $1692

Looks like we would only be out about $25 to stay in a DVC Villa-

As soon as she calls I will update- who knows when that will be. I have to leave to take my son to preschool so I pray its not then lol. If its a go then I will be back with 800 more questions I am sure

Quick question, will your aunts points still give you the 9 night/10 day stay?

Honestly, no clue! I have no clue if 500 points to use is a lot or not, if it would cover that length of time, etc. Since we are not going to change the flights, I told her we could stay at pop for a few days if need be!

UGH! Aunt just called (I thought she forgot about me. Then I thought my phone was broken because it wasnt ringing....) She wanted to confirm our dates again, and let me know that she is calling Disney NOW
