I took the children and one of their friends bowling Saturday afternoon and the bowling alley we went to is in a small town near us where I lived briefly about 20 years ago.
Whilst there I saw a guy that I used to go out with but it was nothing serious. However this got my mind racing back to the past! Inparticular I kept thinking of my former best friend. We went to Primary and Secondary schools together and shared a flat until she got a serious boyfriend when we were both in our early twenties. We've bumped into each other occasionally since but haven't kept in touch.
Since Saturday I have been trying to track her down! Usual places, Friends Reunited(but she hasn't registered), Facebook, even the electoral roll. Her surname is Smith so I was looking for a needle in a haystack!
Today whilst walking back from helping out with DD's school swimming class I was accosted on the arm - when I looked around it was her!! I couldn't believe it, I told her that I'd been "looking for her". We had a lengthy chat and we're going to meet up again properly after half term.
Chatting to her today was like we'd never had a break - we're both determined to stay in touch this time. If this had happened in Eastenders people would be complaining saying it was too far fetched, I feel so happy today but must admit to being a bit freaked out by it!
