What are the chances of "critters" (bugs, snakes, lizards etc.)getting into your ground floor room?

I don't want to have any bugs in our room. Haven't seen any in past visits at Disney resorts.

We had a pair of ducks in our room once. I've got a picture of it. Yes, there was food involved, and yes I'm a bad guest for feeding them, but they were very cute ducks.

We were at BC of all places, and found a snake in our first floor bathroom. It was little and nontoxic but I didn't want to take any chances so I called maintenance to come get it. They took FOREVER... Now my youngest always asks for a non-ground floor room at hotels.

Not sure how he got in as those halls are endless.

Had roaches/palmettos in our room at POFQ, second floor room, so they climb that high (or fly). Have seen snake in BB lazy river too, expertly wrangled by the CM's.

Has not put me off, might want a new room if too many bugs..

Yeah, I don't like the palmetto bugs at all - big roaches that fly - but a palmetto bug in your room is usually a one off, unlike an actual roach infestation.

We've never experienced issues with bugs or any other critters in a ground floor or any other room at Disney, but as several PP have said it's Florida so it's not out of the realm of possibility for any room at any resort.

What's BC?

We've never had bugs or critters in many, many first floor stays, mostly at BWV. But we do not leave our door open for long periods or we know we would! Hopefully the mousekeepers do not leave the porch door open long either.... fortunately they only visit once or twice during our DVC stays.

We had a very large Black Rat Snake on the floor of our Grand Floridian Big Pine Key ground floor room!!!! It was not happy either!!! NEVER a ground floor room again. They said that it was probably wrapped in a coil under the sofa bed because we never had a chance to open the balcony room since it was only a couple of days into our trip. My son would pull the bed away from the wall to watch TV and they said he must have disturbed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stayed at All Star Music on the ground floor and had no problems with critters inside. That isn't to say that I wouldn't see 5-10 lizards outside on the path back to the lobby area.

Never a ground floor room for us....I've seen too many guests in ground floor rooms leave the slider open and go in and out....even at moderates I've seen guests prop open the door and sit outside...

Personally, we prefer the upper floor getting away from guests being above us, stomping and running that's easily heard thru the floor....

I think I will check my room when we get in. Never had s problem before but now nervous since I read these posts!!

and check everytme you come back in at the end of the day because the housekeepers could have left the door open long enough for something to slither in...

Aggressive snakes tend to not like people (or anything) bothering them, so they are less common in such busy areas. They are usually the friendly, non-harmful ones looking for bugs and lizards to eat. They're doing you a favor ;) The big baddies don't come out too often.

We had the cutest rabbit sitting just outside our patio door at the Yacht Club this year when I went outside. Sadly I didn't have time to grab my camera before it hopped off so not all critters are nasty.

The older I get the less encounters like this bother me. The older I get the braver I get. Might even hold a nonvenomous (sp?) snake one of these days.
